*Short version** I enjoyed my time with this story, but it has plenty of short comings that will hopefully be resolved with book 2 (assuming that happens) This is my opinion on the game after playing one playthrough. The concept is fantastic being born into a royal family and follow your MC as they grow up etc. I also like how all the main characters have portraits you can view However the game feels bloated with too many characters, it dilutes the amount of interactions you can have with each of them. Most of your skills are completely irrelevant in this book (i can only think of 1 scene where one of your skills matters) They should have tried reducing the amount of characters or at least leave some of the unimportant characters for book 1 out of it and introduce them in book 2 Also the criticism of the story ending abruptly is valid, especially that on my play through where you spend most of it locked in a room, whilst the soldiers did the more interesting story off screen. I am hoping the sequel to this will be better as the concept is good and now they have got past introducing all these characters and can start using these skills you developed since a child.

One of the worst choice games which I have ever laid my eyes on. It reads if it was written by an 8-year-old. No cohesion, no consistent backstory or story building. “Give a beggar 1, 5 or 10 gold”; how can you know how much one gold piece is worth? Everan is named as a kingdom but ruled by a lord. You have no allies in the end, but throw a big party for your allies??? I strongly discourage you from ever purchasing this game. I only finished it in the hopes that it would get better. I was disappointed.
PLAY THE REMAKE INSTEAD
Not gonna lie, the current Steam version of The Sword of Rhivenia is simply not very good. It has some great ideas, but that doesn't matter much when the execution falls short. So, why did I give it a thumbs-up? Well, the only reason is that I wanted to show my support for the upcoming remake, which takes the original idea and improves upon it in every way. As I mentioned earlier, the current version is mediocre at best, so the author decided to completely rewrite it. Honestly, I think that turned out to be a great decision. If you want to give it a try, google "The Sword of Rhivenia (Remake)" and you'll find the free demo.
Seeing some of the negative reviews for this I was kind of wary but the premise was enough to buy me in. It has some minor writing problems and a kind of rushed ending, but overall it's a pretty interesting ride where you really get to craft your character and their presence in the world. And the ending could be mostly forgiven if they actually plan on a sequel, which I hope happens, but doubtful. Discounted, it's a steal. Full price? Personally, I'd say it's still worth it. It's as good if, not better, than similarly priced novels.
I've been a fan of this game since the demo and am really looking forward to the sequel, however, there is one(maybe two?) feature I would really like to see added if possible: a save/load option. I often find myself having to restart the game from the beginning after making a decision that I misinterpreted or was executed in a way I did not intend. I understand that not being able to go back and undo things helps with the realism and immersion but I think it can also be a detriment to the game. I spend more time quick-firing through the story to get back to where I was to make a choice more in line with what I initially wanted than actually trying new routes and interactions.
I have played many of these games made by hosted and this one is the best one out there, the writing is great and the relationships feel real its a shame the developer stopped making part 2 hopefully she continues it because it has the potential to be even better than the first one. This book is mainly for creating your character and relationships- the overall story is abrupt, but I actually suggest it! If you're still hesitant, wait until book 2 comes out and see then.
Good but short, a few outcomes are railroaded in. Its been a long time but still no part 2, so I suspect this will never be properly completed.
Really makes you feel the burden and responsibility come with the throne and your choices.
La historia esta bien, no obstante algunas de las habilidades no parecen tener efecto en las decisiones, además de que varios de los personajes que tienen una barra de relación apenas interactúas con ellos. A parte de eso, el juego es muy entretenido y la historia es interesante.
