I have a lot of mixed feelings about this game even though I recommend it with just over a hundred hours clocked in. The good: Building and customizing your vehicles is a ton of fun and I've gotten a lot of enjoyment just designing frankenstein trucks. Driving (when your vehicle is configured right) is a lot of fun, off-roading even moreso. The atmosphere makes for some kino coziness, like smoking a cigarette on the beach during sunset after a long, treacherous haul across the coast. The bad: The jank! This game is full of jank, so if that's your bread and butter then you're in luck. Objects fall through terrain and seem to rez mid-air above where they were last placed when you leave an area & come back; neatly organized piles will explode into big messes. For example, I stocked a fridge with vodka and sausage, saved and quit and when I loaded my file the next day, the fridge was up to the ceiling, sitting on top of a pile of meat and booze lol... Neatly stacked tires will collapse into piles and disappear through the ground... Etc. Etc. This game seriously needs a better save system. There's no autosave, so if you die or make a mistake, that's potentially an hour or so of progress just gone. One single file, prone to corruption, that you can't make backups of without going into game files is obnoxious as hell! I have been lucky to only have one corrupt file happen. Turn combat off until you get an AK and ammo, by the way. You can put weapons in your truck cab but reloading them is done by putting one round of ammo in at a time; you don't get to carry spare mags or clips, just boxes of ammo. Sometimes when you save, quit and reload, you'll find that box of ammo you just reloaded from is magically full again! If the weapon is in your backpack, you have to throw it onto the ground (and risk it clipping thru terrain) to equip it... A weapon slot with a keybind would fix this issue. All that being said, I still recommend the game, if you have the patience for it. There's a lot of fun to be had under the jank. I hope the devs new game, Apocalypter, fixes a lot of these issues.

Very good. I vaguely remember waiting for a Wasteland Trucker game a few years back - this is what it became. Small team indie game with some rough spots, but it’s fun and surprisingly deep. There are all kinds of features here that I wouldn’t necessarily expect from a game like this, including ground deformation, and the truck physics are pretty good with things such as total weight and distribution actually making a difference. Honestly, just read through the feature list. It’s all that and more. I also discovered there are multiple vehicles, and all of them can be worked on and upgraded, and there are multiple kinds of races, which adds quite a bit more depth than I initially expected. Also a nice touch is that the costly upgrades make a meaningful difference to performance and handling. No FFB, but my G923 setup works great for driving with manual shifting. I’m always going to wish for better graphics, and especially the buildings and character models in this one, but even so, this game is just about great. A really solid effort and super low price equates to an easy recommend on this one.
