About
The Sinking City 2 is a third-person survival horror set in 1920s Arkham. Deliberate, tense, and resource-lean: pressure builds as you push deeper, relief comes in brief refuge, and fear is something you manage. Mind your inventory, take on unnerving puzzles, and double back via unlocked shortcuts for supplies and upgrades.
A Roaring ’20s port city buckling under a supernatural flood. Tide-stained avenues and battered Art Deco. Speakeasies gone dark. Districts feel lived-in and water-worn, with routes by foot and skiff, shortcuts behind collapsed seawalls, and secrets tucked in boarded parlors. You’ll navigate a hospital where science hides its face, a fish market where the merchandise bites back, and descend deep below the city to where eldritch horrors stir.
A ritual gone wrong trapped her soul in the Dreamlands, and now malevolent forces have stolen her body. To rescue the woman you love, you must walk a dangerous path through catastrophe to the source of the flood — her presence always felt, but rarely seen.
The Slither animate the dead. Deep Ones surge from dark water. Shadows bend space and test nerves. Some fights must be met head-on; others demand a retreat to rearm, retune your build, and return better prepared. Or take on an optional investigation and come back with an upgraded gun.
Exploration is the key to survival. Read ritual residues, sift through grisly clues, decode journals that shouldn’t exist, and pry at masks that won’t come off. Optional cases never gate progress — but they unlock safer routes, hard supplies, and upgrades that change how you endure the next encounter.
The Sinking City 2 draws on Frogwares’ detective roots to deliver survival horror that runs deep and hits hard. Shaped by studio obsession and community feedback, it’s a faithful Lovecraft experience: myths made manifest, and the inconceivable fear that results.

Overall I enjoyed my time with this. Unfortunately everything seems a little sub-par. However the short comings feel more like man power limitations rather than poor decision making, which is definitely worth noting. What's here is impressive considering it was made during a war.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 4: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

I really liked the game. I played through the whole thing on the second-highest difficulty on my first run, and I definitely struggled to survive in some places. Although, to be fair, that might also be because I'm simply not that good at games. Gameplay-wise, it feels very much inspired by Resident Evil, and I thought that fit the game really well. It never really felt like I was “winning”. It felt more like I was surviving and somehow managing to make it through, which I really enjoyed. I also liked that manual saving actually mattered while exploring. Dying could set you back a noticeable amount of progress, so death had some real weight to it. That created a nice bit of friction and made exploring dangerous areas feel more tense, because you couldn't just throw yourself at every situation without thinking. The boss fights, on the other hand, felt much too easy to me. The essentially unlimited money exploit makes it possible to stock up on so many resources that the bosses lose a lot of their threat. It creates a strange contrast where normal exploration can feel tense and punishing, while the supposedly big encounters can become much easier simply because you walk into them carrying a small ammunition warehouse. I did find the story a little thin in places, especially the relationship between the main characters. I honestly think it would have taken something closer to a trilogy for me to really become emotionally invested in their relationship. The standalone DLC actually shows that even a much smaller threat can be presented in a compelling way and still feel worth your time. So I do think a slower introduction to the world and more time spent developing the characters and their relationships could have worked. Of course, that would also require a much bigger budget, so I understand why they chose to tell a self-contained story instead. The atmosphere was excellent, and I enjoyed the puzzles. I only had some trouble with the final puzzles at the Fish Market because I found the clues a little confusingly worded. I also really liked the pin-up in the hospital, although probably mostly because I can already imagine MandaloreGaming eventually reviewing the game and going: **“Wait, are these from real people?”** I'd recommend the game to pretty much anyone interested in this kind of survival horror. I think it's worth buying even at €60.
Proud of the devs and what they've done here. If you like Resident Evil (specifically REmake 2 and 4) or the first Sinking City, you'll likely enjoy this! No technical issues whatsoever
The Sinking City 2 is a refreshingly enjoyable game that shares a lot of DNA with other survival horror games (like Cronos The New Dawn, RE2/4 Remake and Dead Space) but it also carves out its own spot in the genre as well. The unique submerged city design that has you boating around from block to block as makeshift islands, is a nice touch and gives the devs some freedom to create a bit of a unique story path too vs the normal run here or run there formula. It is 100% more a SURVIVAL HORROR game vs an action one, though it does have some action segments sprinkled in too. On normal difficulty you will often times find yourself low on ammo or completely empty but the game is generous with respawning items during the few boss fights throughout. If you're new to the genre, the combat and enemies can feel overwhelming but they do have an easy mode and it also has a different difficulty setting for the puzzles themselves too, so you can play on hard mode with easy puzzles for example, if you wanted to. It's about 7-8 hours or so but I am pretty okay at these games so it may take you longer or w/e but yeah not bad, I think the new game plus is supposed to be really nice so we'll see here soon, I am on the final chapter now just exploring before I take out the final section. AMD users should beware that the launch build came WITHOUT FSR!! So you are stuck with native or TSR for now. Nvidia users are fine as DLSS is there and working.
Very good survival horror. Good weapon variety, good enemy variety, really good puzzles, It takes every survival horror lesson from games before and pulls off something great. And this studio made this game while in Ukraine, during a war, while winning their franchise back from a scummy publisher. And for those who are complaining about it not being like the first game, It is certainly different. Different is not bad. It is simply a different kind of game. To expect a franchise to stay the same, and become disappointed when it is different is natural, but when that happens, Please for the love of god judge it as it's own thing. Lets not pretend the first game is this perfect game when it is busted as hell. It's a lot of fun, but it's clear the scope needed to be smaller, and with less things that could go wrong. As someone who enjoys survival horror, this game is great. It is a labor of love, or should I say, a labor of Lovecraft.
Take some of the best survival horror games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill or Alan Wake, add Lovecraftian horror and you get a great game called The Sinking City 2, that takes the best from the mentioned titles.
Appropriately spookie, and unnerving for a Lovecraftian survival horror. Had a few weird bugs but nothing that wasn't fixed by a reload.
