About
The Sinking City 2 is a third-person survival horror set in 1920s Arkham. Deliberate, tense, and resource-lean: pressure builds as you push deeper, relief comes in brief refuge, and fear is something you manage. Mind your inventory, take on unnerving puzzles, and double back via unlocked shortcuts for supplies and upgrades.
A Roaring ’20s port city buckling under a supernatural flood. Tide-stained avenues and battered Art Deco. Speakeasies gone dark. Districts feel lived-in and water-worn, with routes by foot and skiff, shortcuts behind collapsed seawalls, and secrets tucked in boarded parlors. You’ll navigate a hospital where science hides its face, a fish market where the merchandise bites back, and descend deep below the city to where eldritch horrors stir.
A ritual gone wrong trapped her soul in the Dreamlands, and now malevolent forces have stolen her body. To rescue the woman you love, you must walk a dangerous path through catastrophe to the source of the flood — her presence always felt, but rarely seen.
The Slither animate the dead. Deep Ones surge from dark water. Shadows bend space and test nerves. Some fights must be met head-on; others demand a retreat to rearm, retune your build, and return better prepared. Or take on an optional investigation and come back with an upgraded gun.
Exploration is the key to survival. Read ritual residues, sift through grisly clues, decode journals that shouldn’t exist, and pry at masks that won’t come off. Optional cases never gate progress — but they unlock safer routes, hard supplies, and upgrades that change how you endure the next encounter.
The Sinking City 2 draws on Frogwares’ detective roots to deliver survival horror that runs deep and hits hard. Shaped by studio obsession and community feedback, it’s a faithful Lovecraft experience: myths made manifest, and the inconceivable fear that results.

Great story and true to Lovecraft. Gameplay is a little clunky but didn't take away from the pleasure of the game.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 4: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

after so many let downs this year i just want my review to be the Gordon ,Finaly some good ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ food meme. this is survival horror done to perfection. also if the guys getting bombed and drafter can get UE5 to run 120fps at launch, i refuse any other devs silly BS reasons anymore. this game runs like a dream. you can tell after only an hour in that this is what passion for your project feels like, it might be wierd to say as i dont know them ,but i am so proud of frogwares and this acomplishment
after 100% this game i can say its awesome the story is fun the combat is good and this game is a million times better then the crap show first game IN EVERY SINGLE WAY. i highly recommend this
The sinking city 2 completely won me over. The world is so well-crafted that i often found myself stopping just to admire the environment, The atmosphere is unique - full of mystery, dampness, decay and that constant sense that something vast and incomprehensible is moving in the background. The amount of work put into the world - building is incredible. Every neighborhood has its own character, every building has a story, and every details shows the developers poured their soul into it. The game makes you feel like you are part of a word that dosent want you there - and thats its greatest achievement. The gameplay is improved, the comat feels cleaner, the missions are more interesting, and the overall experience is much more solid than the first game. For me, its one of the best cosmic horror games .
I've liked the game honeslty, it's a good survival horror with honest mechanics, good visuals, stellar art direction, memorable characters and a love story which does not feel forced or unnatural. The only caveats i have are this: -melee combat is a little janky, in a sense where it's often hard to predict - will your hit land on an enemy or not. -i'm a little sad the devs abandoned the detective (dare i say, sherlock holmsey) aspect which i liked the most in the first game (tbh it was the only thing i REALLY dug in it). But it's still okay because i love good lovecraftian stories - and this is VERY competent lovecraftian story - and i like more streamlined experiences in general. -i kind-of-sort-of wish for second non-canon ending or some secret epilogue as a prize for beating the new-game plus, and also for a capability to use your resources from the first playthrough. P.S.
.
This is a fun game with a lot of problems and despite the fact that I have a lot of things that I found made no sense or were just unfair at times I don't regret buying it at launch and getting the dlc. I do really like this game which is why I have so much to say about it. For me it hits all the marks: lovecraft theme , horror , story driven. Its a classic survival horror game that secretly wants to be an action game. Gameplay wise you will find it does all the things games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill2 do (I mean the remakes of these games because of the heavy action angle). Its very well put togheter and it is fun to play through but its also incredibly basic. It has nothing in the design that is special about it that makes it be a Sinking City game. Yes , I am disconsidering the mask runes. For me they didn't have much of an impact , alot of times I forgot that existed. Not to mention you can't open all the slots or runes by the end of the game. Considering the story and location and its predecesor you would expect to at least have some sort of Sanity mechanics . Heck I dont understand why look towards resident evil when there are better games set in the same lovecraftian universe that did way cooler stuff if there were to be an inspiration. Such as Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth. Lets talk about Sinking City 1 . Sinking City 2 is not brothers with the first game , it is a very far off cousin of it. Far Far Far off. The only thing they have in common is a couple of lore drops , the location and the very sad excuse of a investigation screen. An investigation screen that would be completely useless to have if you didnt get 1 sad point for linking the clues you found around the locations. I played the game with both investigation settings and it didnt make a difference for me. It feels like that screen was kept because it is supposed to still be related somehow with Sinking City 1. Any Adventure game DNA that Sinking City 1 had is almost all removed from the second game. The town is almost empty , the few people you meet have nothing else to say except go there do that . Or look at me I am so strange and lovecrafty for 10 lines of dialogue max. For the last NPC you meet I didnt even realize her quest was done while doing it. It is sad because the concept of each NPC you do meet is intresting. The problem is that its once again basic. In other survival horrors you would meet an NPC and then you get to interact with said NPC the entire game or a big chunk of the game to see or help them with whatever parallel objective the NPC was up to. In here its a strict A to B encounter. I stumble upon NPC 1 at A and he wont help until you go to B and bring him the thing. Cool. Encounters are fun cause the shooting is fun and works. What felt unfair is the forced arena battles where they throw 10+ creatures at you as if I am now playing Bayonetta. Other than that everything works as expected and you keep getting introduced to new monsters that keep the scares scary. I would recommend playing the game at the start at an easy difficulty or normal otherwise you might throw your monitor out the window. That being said the most common enemy is a zombie and they are faster than you would expect and can grab you fast as well. Make sure to actually dodge when running around. The game is scary , I think the horror was incredibly well done and is the highlight of the game. The sound and art and level design is 10/10 and the only things in the game that had depth to it. The atmosphere is thick and oozes all that you would expect of a lovecraftian game. It was these details that added the most to my enjoyment of the game. One note here , for the monster spawns. You will notice that you get to see what the locations will throw at you before it does it. That adds to the tension and its great. Until you are 5 hours in and you realize that monsters appearing and attacking is not random at all but it is strictly tied to completion of objectives and getting those special boxes. There are a few encounters that don't go by this rule but in general that is how it goes and it will feel repetitive. The story. I love the outline of it , two nutcases find each other and fall in love and then proceed to do magics that endagers themselves and the entire world. The intro to the game is 10/10, a very strong start. And then you do the first objective and your other half gets to tag along for the rest of the game as the annoying voice companion in an object. I have not seen this trope done well in any other game than Cyberpunk. The curse continues. She will annoy you as she keeps yelling at you what to do , move faster and other great advice while zombies are biting your ankles or your stuck in an arena with 10+ monsters slapping you around. I wish I could mute her. You cannot. She doesn't add any new views or opinions to the table, despite the fact that the entire game Calvin and the writers keep telling me how cool and special she is, I dont see it in action. Most of the times she'll just briefly describe the thing in front of you not give her view or knowledge as a character about said subject. No , her breaking a couple wards do not count. We see Calvin doing similar magics in the DLC. Faye gets that Mary Sue treatment from middle of the game to the end. I don't know why Calvin loves her so , at some point I though maybe he is under a spell or something. I won't spoil the ending , I think that was well done and it really fit the theme and the game. That being said I will make fun of these two "romantic" moment. So imagine this, they look eachother in the eye after many battles and Calvin goes like " Ow Faye I love you so much cause I am terrible man for X reasons (of which he goes into great details.)" . Faye doesnt dispute any of his claims :D and she goes like "Ow Calvin I love you too because you are not like other men and you let me do things? achieve my dream" . Which this case was ugh horrible horrible things you ll get to see at the end of the game to get the joke. Scenes that clearly were not supposed to be comical but they are. Another thing the story spends quite some time telling you or Calvin himself telling you what a bad person he is. You aren't convincing anyone. He might be a dumbass who was India Jones-ing around and fell for the wrong woman then proceded to let her bring the .....redacted.... but he really does care and does his utmost to go to hell and back to save her ass or help some of the "survivors". I like Calvin and he deserved better. The DLC - its shorter and more focused. Its a better everything than the main game has to offer. I disagree that it needs to be played after the main game. I don't understand why that notice is there. The DLC is also more of an adventure game in some ways than the main game. Cause Calvin actually gets to have a conversation with a NPC who is a character of his own. Calvin reacts to things in the house. The DLC is very well made. It sucks that it was a day 1 dlc rather than a part of the game. It would have been a great intro to the game as well to get to know Calvin more. In conclusion I recommend the game at a sale if any of my complaints above would affect you more than it did me. It is a great attempt at something new from the team and I hope that the next game will be even better. The art and sound team did an amazing job with this one !
Love it. Very nicely done. Everything is on a good level. Maybe to hardcore sometimes though.
