If you enjoy this genre, it's hard to beat this iteration. As a gaming animator myself, it really gets under my skill when the animation detail in a franchise goes downhill, as it did for this franchise. So I'll recommend this one - pay attention to the animations, they are top notch and detailed. You can hardly call yourself a real simmer if you haven't got this classic.
This game was my introduction to the Sims series, so I might be slightly nostalgia-biased, but yeah, what a great game. I must say, after playing the OG Sims, this game is such a huuuuge leap forward. Even tho I still think Sims 3 is where the series peaked, this one is still amazing and has a place in my heart. Performance side, honestly, I haven't encountered a single crash or some game breaking bug, so all good. The only thing that I would point out was the irregular framerate. I would say I still have a pretty decent PC so it was kinda annoying to deal with FPS drops, but again nothing too crazy. So yeah, overall lovely game, can only recommend!

The best Sims game! Just take the time to go to Mod the Sims and follow the guide to set your game up. If you try to run it without fixing it it will crash. This is an old game and EA, of course, didn't bother to fix it.
I played sims 2 when it origionally came out and was completely addicted. I hesitated when I saw this version because of the reviews but tried it in the end and fortunately I dint experience the crashed a lot of people are describing. This game gives you more or less complete freedom on how you want to play which is what completely turned me off in later sims games. For me the only con would be that you can't switch off certain expansions, they're all automatically included. I like having them available but in some gameplays I would like to switch off some
