Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Every market we collect.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
No United States chart position — it charts only in the markets below.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 8.14/day in the week to Aug 19 → 24.57/day in the week after.
Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
The year is 1998. A private jet belonging to the Roottree Corporation has crashed. On it were the Roottree Sisters and their parents. Combined, they were worth over a billion dollars.
Now, due to the eccentricities of their great-great-grandfather Elias, their money must be redistributed to the rest of the family. But who's actually a BLOOD RELATIVE? That's where you come in.
Armed only with the power of your mighty dial-up modem, you'll scour for photos, books, articles and other evidence. Then, you'll make connections and deductions based on the family relationships you uncover. With every spot on the tree you fill in correctly, the names and photos left in your possession will have fewer and fewer places to go — but the evidence will also be harder and more obscure to find.
Can you put together the final pieces of the puzzle?

Reviews
This game was an absolutely party for my brain. If you are someone who likes rabbit roles, research, etc. This is the game for you. The game dives into the history of the Roottrees, asking you to figure out the entire family tree and expose some family secrets that have long been hidden. You do this using the tech of 1998 (that dial up sound still triggers by the way). The puzzles are intriguing with clues hidden everywhere. The follow up of Roottreemania was even more complex and challenging. Overall, I highly recommend to anyone who loves a good puzzle game.

If you like Googling and reading Wikipedia articles mixed with "Guess Who?", this game is for you.
Soft recommend As a deduction game this setup works. The main mechanic of referencing a web of articles to reconstruct a family tree is a fun concept that is executed well. The main flaw is that this game relies on the crutch of validating your work as you play, so locking in partially-correct information (intentionally or unintentionally) undermines the fun of the process. I can make a deductive guess based on circumstantial evidence (posing of a photo, racial origin of a name, etc.), and immediately get confirmation whether I'm right or not. Other games in this genre (such as Obra Dinn) are lesser offenders of this due to the nature of how they present information to you. I noticed it a lot with Roottrees and I think there was probably a better way to handle this part of the game. I'll also say that I did not find the meta story to be a reasonable pay-off for the setup. We're uncovering fairly milquetoast "family drama" from ~60 years ago, rather than anything actually related to the titular "The Roottrees are Dead" inciting event. That's the most depth I can discuss the story without spoiling anything. Rounding out, I have to mention I was impressed to see the size of the postgame scenario, I think if nothing else this game is good value for money and part of a niche enough genre that you should probably give this a play if you enjoy the likes of Obra Dinn and Galley House.
