About
The Message from Deep Space is an odyssey of puzzles. Take the role of the mission's Translator, working alongside a scrappy band of scientists, and venture headfirst into the world of deciphering an alien language --- completely from the ground up.
Set in 1973, Earth is the recipient of a meteorite that broadcasts radio waves. In the role of the mission's Translator, the player is responsible for designing responses to the meteorite's transmissions, which, if correct, will elicit new messages from the meteorite. Only through this radio wave dialogue will patterns, words, syntax, and meaning all take form, leaving but one question:
What is it the aliens want to say?
Translate an alien language
Learn about an alien civilization
Interface with a retro computer
Manage a user-driven dictionary
Design radio transmissions by frequency
Collaborate with scientists that respond to your actions

Inspired by The Golden Record aboard the Voyager I space probe, The Message from Deep Space takes a realistic approach to deciphering an interstellar message. Beginning with the limited universal constants available to technologically advanced civilizations, the message spans a range of real-world fields of math & science. Decoding the message is tough, but with the support of the game's meticulous linguist, the single-minded computer programmer, and the affable astronomer, it is a challenge fit for anyone with Curiosity and Perseverance.

This must be so interesting to STEM students who dabble in all fields scientific, I am struggling so much but it is a fun game.
Great game. A fun mechanic that unfolds into a moving story. I felt like the game gave me nearly everything I needed within the game, as an educated adult. I just had to look up more details on some of the chemistry stuff. The last tenth of the game was rough, as the possible answer space grows so large with different ways you could write things. Deciphering intent and guessing at formatting is harder than actually knowing the answer at that point. But I never felt any particular part overstayed its welcome, despite the game length, and it wrapped up nicely. I did run into some issues with the mouse cursor. It doesn't update the game cursor when you click back in, so I had to realign my mouse with the game mouse any time I alt tabbed. Might just be a Linux issue though.

^_^ (Alan Akers,Bryan Bautista,Carrie Collins,Douglas Doppler)
I am getting stuck, a lot, and I love it. I walk away for a few hours, come back with fresh eyes, and almost always solve it straight away. I know it gets a lot harder and my head is going to hurt but I'm looking forward to how many more hours I'm gonna spent staring at my screen thinking "this doesn't make any sense"!
Excellent simulation of what it may be like to receive an alien signal and decoding it into plain English. Funny bits of humor interjected as your coworkers "help" you progress with the decoding work.
MESSAGE IS GOOD, HUMAN TO MESSAGE ENJOY DO
I like the message game.
TLDR. Give this game a chance if you are interested in math, science and linquistics. It gives you feeling of intelligence even if you technically just solving 5th graders homework. I rarely review games but this one deserves one as it has to be my GOTY. The game will need some understanding of math, science and linquistics (there is reference booklet provided but i find it very hardly actually helpful, and instead it's there to just exist); those subjects doesn't go on super complex level but with very little knowledge it can get hard. Also note taking and scrap paper is almost must have to enjoy this game as some puzzles get really hard to solve completely in your head (there is also digital white board provided but using it with a mouse feels totally useless for me and also the scaling is too zoomed in so sometimes you would require more coordinates in each direction). The game has very clever way of building more complex concepts from nothing (well technically not nothing, but only from scientific constants and previously built concepts). Also i like the characters a lot, but understand why some moght not (their whitty remarks at each other and "clever" jokes might sound unprofessional for doctors, but i like that humoristic touch they have instead of dry academics). But then to those things that some other reviewers have complained about. Firstly the hint system (or the ideas where other teammates try to give you a push), is usually provided for every task except for the few i would've liked them (so this is kinda the only negative the game has at it breaks the flow when getting stuck for longer time on single puzzle). Also those impromptu dialogues that have hints can be turned of from the settings as well as the meetings where the team straight up explains to the boss some of those words (you'll miss some lore but if you really want to solve the game yourself without any help they can be turned off). And secondly that the game starts to be more about what the game excepts for answer instead what the grammatically and logically correct answer is, is something i haven't experienced yet and i'm little over halfway done (every answer expected from me has been very clear except in few cases where it has been fault of my own logic instead of the game). Usually when it feels the grammar doesn't make any sense is because your previous toughts have been wrong and you have to redefine the translations instead of trying to push on with incorrect information. There has been situations where i have defined a word as something hundred messages ago and it felt good at the moment, but then have to come back to it because there is new information that breaks the old definition (and also some words that i have redefined multiple times until finally landing to correct one, or most plausible one at least). And lastly that the alien math is too similar to human math. Only too thinks that it takes from actually human math is that set theory (it's pretty likely the aliens would use it if they used binary logic like we do, but even if they use binary logic they can use other foundation like type theory) and using pi instead of tau (tau = 2*pi). These can be discarded easily if you take the game for what it is, a fun puzzle game. Lastly comment for the devs. When i use ctrl+enter to submit the answer it adds newline which can be very frustrating sometimes when the last thing has been you fixing typo and then it breaks down the word from middle and causes compilation error. And also if i use tab to go thorugh dialogue when in response windov it outputs those same tabs to that response sometimes losing my text cursor completely. Otherwise fantastic game
This game is great! If you're okay with doing a little math, then The Message from Deep Space will be a blast the whole way through. This game is really well crafted. I can only think of maybe three or four times where I thought the solution to a puzzle was a little frustrating. Cool story with fun characters. The game is very kind and gives you tools like a digital whiteboard to solve problems so you don't have to go get a notebook or tab out to a different app. It helps a lot with the immersion. The music is pretty good, but it feels like some songs are overplayed sometimes. I like how you can do a lot of things with keyboard shortcuts so you don't have to use the mouse too much. If you liked Arrival (2016), you'll like this. The Message from Deep Space really captures the wonder of outer space, and the game gets surprisingly hopeful and inspirational. I cried at the end.
