I have a lot of good memories playing this game when it originally came out, so picking it up again was mostly just me wanting to relive some of that nostalgia. After finishing my first playthrough, I can say it was absolutely worth it. The game definitely shows its age in some places, but I honestly did not care. Running around Middle earth, fighting enemies, and getting to experience a Lord of the Rings story that takes place alongside the movies was just as fun as I remembered. It was really cool coming back to something I played years ago and realizing I still enjoyed it. There were a lot of moments where I remembered exactly what I was doing or where I was supposed to go, which made the whole playthrough feel like going back to an old game I never really forgot. I just finished my first playthrough and I am already planning on going back for Heroic and Legendary. If you played this back in the day and have good memories of it, I would definitely recommend picking it up. It is absolutely worth the money if you are looking for some nostalgia. It may be an older game, but it still holds up as a really fun Lord of the Rings experience.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 2: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Bom game, boa experiência.
Fun game played it with my grandpa when I was a kid
Mimo iż jestem sporym fanem twórczości Tolkiena, to ta gra mnje odrzuciła całkowicie.
Buggy mess. Made me want to suck start a shotgun. Will play the re-rerelease.
Great experience on the stream deck with friends. I do not know why it says unknown for steam deck compatibility. While it’s an old game, it will definitely be to your liking if you’re a fan of LOTR or just want a fun game with your friends.
fantastic
this is a very hard call for me. i think if all the bugs ever get addressed and patched out, i would change my review to positive. war in the north is one of my favorite games of all time, it is the second best lord of the rings video game (the first being the last days of the third age mod of mount and blade warband, which if you wouldn't count then war in the north is the best lotr game of all time) and its great that its available again for sale in an official capacity, but essentially what aspyr did (or whichever underling company they had do it), is add a very very good idea into the game, which in turn created a billion bugs that didn't exist before, and instead of playtesting it at all they just shadow dropped it for 20 bucks. like, basically its a really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ implemented fan mod that just makes the game buggy for no reason. as for the bugs i encountered, there were quite literally so so many i dont think i can remember them all, but i will try. -several pieces of armor being equipped caused parts of the characters body to be see through, like i put a chest piece on the elf and literally through loading screens until i gave her a different chest piece her entire torso was invisible (same for the dwarf, who i played as, but with boots and it made parts of his legs invisible). -similarly, the wounded dwarf you talk to later in the story at gundabad, his face did not load onto his character model and never did the entire time you talk to him. -there were various instances of knocking an enemy down, pushing heavy attack to finish them while theyre laying on the ground, the animation playing but the attack not connecting despite looking like it does, then the enemy gets up and attacks me and is able to damage me but my attacks miss them entirely, only for them to randomly die shortly thereafter. -a few times when manning a mounted crossbow, instantly it would kick me off and not let me interact with it anymore. -many times there would be a health or mana potion on the ground that walking over wouldnt pick up. -i like many encountered the weapons and gear on the floor when traveling back to hub areas. -im not sure how to quantify this as a bug but im sure it is, but several times orc wizards or whatever would just literally one shot me from full health to 1 health, but never kill me? i think there's more bugs i encountered, ill add them if i can remember, or encounter them again (because of course ill probably replay this version despite having easy access to the others) a bug i didnt run into because so far ive only played solo is apparently theres a problem with progression being saved to characters when playing this co op, which i guess was present in the original version? idk im such an anti social guy that i never knew that existed, but its well worth bearing in mind. that being said, none of the bugs prevent the game from being played, but theyre all really kind of annoying, especially for someone who has owned this game on steam since 2016, and has played and replayed the 360 one a bunch of times way before that. hell, the nano second i owned a ps3 when i was much younger, war in the north and demons souls were the only two games i had for it. so for someone who has played this game a lot over the years, paying 20 dollars for a just much buggier version feels wrong? but i paid it anyways so whos the real idiot here? and, to be fair, it does run well and look nice, so idk also, like why the ♥♥♥♥ didnt i just get this game for free? like i said ive had the original on my steam account since 2016, when nightdive rereleased the original dooms as DOOM + DOOM II, i got that for free because ive owned those games for my entire life on steam, soooo why not for this game? but the features they added are pretty good... i guess. being able to hot swap between the characters when playing solo is both awesome and kind of annoying. you HAVE to equip them with gear, you HAVE to level them up, if you want them to be healing you HAVE to give them health potions and if you want eradan to be using his bow (or farin his crossbow), you HAVE to be giving them ammo, the ai no longer manages anything, they just do attacks (and they dont always pick up gear, like potions and ammo, but a lot of the time when swapping to them id notice new armor or weapons in their inventories that i did not give them?). but being able to find all the secrets on a level playing solo is really cool, and theoretically replaying the game on higher difficulties should be much more manageable now since you can (are forced to) micro manage the ai. it would have been great if there was a toggle feature to go back to how it is in the original version. and then, of course (and not really the point of my review) the game itself is so good. i mean, the gameplay is pretty repetitive, but its only like 10-13 hours long of a campaign, and with friends probably shorter. but honestly, it feels so good attacking an orc and then executing him and it zooms in and slow mos and your cutting his head off. its just really nice. as for the story, i am kind of a tolkien snob, ive reread lotr, hobbit, and the Silmarillion (and unfinished tales of middle earth) each between 3-5 times (and will do so many more times before i die), and so a lot of lotr video games really annoy me because the people who make them generally seem like they know nothing of the source material (most of them go off the movies, which, while i like, the older i get the more the movies kind of annoy me). that is far from the case with this game, the writing in this game, while not perfect (in many ways not perfect), is pretty solid, like it comes off that the writer(s) actually read the source material, and probably also read the Silmarillion. my favorite thing in this game is when you ask gandalf why they arent just going to ride the eagles to mordor, he gives you a pretty solid answer, which fills me with so much joy, because whenever some mother ♥♥♥♥♥♥ brings that up it makes me go insane, like it just makes me want to rip all their skin and limbs off. please, if you are the type of person who is asking that, read the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ source material, and learn how to think. anyways, what's more, i love all the voice acting in this game so much, especially beleram, i dont recognize the VA from anything else but his performance in this game is so so good. i also love the depictions of locations, like carn dum at the end looks incredibly awesome even though youre only there for five seconds. this is just a really special game. so yeah, its nice that this game is available again after a pretty long time of being abandonware, but please aspyr stop being a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ company and do more than the bear ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ minimum when rereleasing a game, please, war in the north deserves way better than you slapping on a new feature and just letting it thereafter be how it is. again, if that changes, ill change my review to positive, but i would be really surprised if that happens. thanks a lot brutally realistic combat. log onto www.warinthenorth.com to claim your copy today
played for 4 hours came back the next day and the game won't even start, very buggy not recommended until they fix it.
