ASPYR! GIVE US BATTLE FOR MIDDLE EARTH 1 + 2 AND RISE OF THE WITCH KING! WAR OF THE RING! TWO TOWERS! RETURN OF THE KING! CONQUEST! THIRD AGE! PETER JACKSSONS KING KONG! AND MY LIFE! IS YOURS! (yes i know about the all in one laucher for the BFME games thats how i keept playing them!)
Game that starts of awesome, but unfortunately gets progressively worse. You can just tell where - after you go to Rivendell for the first time - the devs stopped caring. Halfway through the game gets buggy and the ragdolls become glitched. When you finish the game, it shows a super cool, well animated cutscene, with great graphic design. That SUCKS, it shows what the game could've been right when you end it. I can't recommend it in the current state.

The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 2: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

The Lord of the Rings: War in the North – Legacy Edition gives a once difficult-to-obtain Middle-earth action RPG another opportunity to find an audience. The original game was developed by Snowblind Studios, while the Legacy Edition was developed and published by Aspyr. Rather than rebuilding the adventure from the ground up, this edition preserves the foundations of the 2011 release while adding modern conveniences and technical improvements. That approach means its age remains noticeable, but it also preserves the straightforward, cooperative action-RPG identity that made War in the North distinctive. The story takes place alongside the larger War of the Ring but deliberately moves away from simply recreating the Fellowship's famous journey. Players instead follow Eradan, a Dúnedain Ranger, Andriel, an Elven Loremaster, and Farin, a Dwarven Champion. Together they confront Agandaûr, one of Sauron's servants attempting to strengthen the Dark Lord's influence across northern Middle-earth. This parallel storyline is a clever way of using familiar lore without forcing players through events they already know. Famous characters still appear, but the three heroes are given their own mission and gradually establish themselves as an important fellowship in their own right. The journey is particularly interesting because it ventures into areas that receive less attention in many Lord of the Rings games. Locations such as Fornost, Mirkwood, and Mount Gundabad contribute to a darker northern atmosphere and help communicate that the war against Sauron extends far beyond Gondor and Mordor. The story is generally linear and lacks the complicated decision-making of a narrative-heavy RPG, but its focus works well for an action-oriented adventure. There is enough dialogue, lore, and interaction to provide context without constantly interrupting the combat. Combat remains the centerpiece. War in the North combines hack-and-slash fighting with RPG progression, allowing players to develop abilities, obtain equipment, and specialize the three characters according to their strengths. Farin naturally excels when fighting enemies at close range, while Eradan provides a more agile combination of melee, ranged attacks, and stealth. Andriel supplies magical abilities and support options. Because each character handles encounters differently, switching heroes can significantly change how battles feel. The equipment and progression systems provide additional motivation. Defeated enemies and explored areas regularly produce weapons, armor, and other useful rewards, creating the familiar cycle of fighting, looting, improving a character, and tackling tougher opposition. The RPG mechanics are not exceptionally complex by modern standards, but they complement the action effectively. Building stronger characters and discovering better equipment gives even repetitive encounters a meaningful sense of advancement. Cooperative play is arguably where the design reaches its full potential. The three-character fellowship naturally supports teamwork, with each hero contributing different abilities during large battles. Friends can coordinate melee pressure, ranged attacks, healing, magic, and crowd control rather than simply fighting independently. Solo players are still supported through AI companions, and the Legacy Edition improves flexibility by allowing character swapping. Being able to change the active hero makes solo play considerably more versatile and allows players to respond to different combat situations without being locked into one character. Aspyr's modernization focuses heavily on practical improvements instead of dramatic reconstruction. Character swapping is accompanied by refined target locking, interface adjustments, clearer health and mana information, autosaving, bug fixes, and other quality-of-life changes. These additions make the experience more approachable on contemporary systems without changing its fundamental structure. Anyone expecting an extensive remake with entirely new graphics, redesigned levels, modernized animation systems, and completely reconstructed combat will therefore need to adjust those expectations. This is fundamentally War in the North preserved and improved rather than replaced. That preservation also means several weaknesses survive. Combat can become repetitive during longer stretches because progression frequently consists of moving into another area and fighting another collection of enemies. Level design sometimes reflects the relatively straightforward structure common to action games of its era, while character progression lacks the enormous variety offered by more elaborate modern RPGs. Animation and presentation can likewise reveal the game's origins. The Legacy Edition improves usability, but it does not disguise every element of a game originally designed more than a decade ago. Nevertheless, the atmosphere remains remarkably effective. War in the North offers a grittier interpretation of Middle-earth, emphasizing brutal battles and dangerous expeditions through hostile territory. Its ability to draw upon recognizable elements while exploring less familiar parts of Tolkien's world gives the campaign a personality separate from games that simply reproduce major scenes from the films. There is a satisfying feeling of participating in another front of the same enormous conflict. The Legacy Edition therefore succeeds most strongly as preservation. Snowblind Studios created an accessible combination of action, loot, character development, fantasy adventure, and cooperative play, and Aspyr has made that experience easier to enjoy on current hardware. It remains imperfect, particularly when judged against newer action RPGs, but its simplicity can also be refreshing. Battles are immediate, progression is understandable, and the three heroes offer enough variety to encourage experimentation. For Lord of the Rings enthusiasts, cooperative action-RPG fans, or players who missed the original release, The Lord of the Rings: War in the North – Legacy Edition is a worthwhile return to a relatively unusual corner of Middle-earth gaming history. Its dated elements and repetitive encounters prevent it from reaching the highest tier of the genre, but the strong setting, enjoyable combat, loot progression, distinctive heroes, and cooperative structure remain compelling. Aspyr's improvements make the adventure more convenient without erasing Snowblind Studios' original identity, resulting in a welcome revival of a game that deserved another chance. Rating: 8/10

I first played War in the North years and years ago when it was Xbox360. It still holds up, graphics are decent, game play is fun, and it's still one of the better Lord of the Rings games out there in my opinion.
С этой игрой связано детство, пожалуй ни одна другая игра по властелину колец не вызывала столько эмоций, комментарий в поддержку легенды
The port is buggy where enemy AI gets stuck in a corner and sometimes gets outside the boundary where the only way to damage is via ranged attack and im gonna be honest, the game is really mid at best. A pure 5 out of 10. Recommended if it's on sale
ЛЕГЕНДУ ВЕРНУЛИ!
Aspyr, put Lord of the Rings: Conquest on Steam with online multiplayer and make it NOT an unplayable launch like the Star Wars Battlefront remasters and my life is yours.
