At Thors Military Academy, Erebonia’s best learn everything from the art of war to liberal arts. First year Rean Schwarzer learns he’s been selected to join the controversial Class VII, and they’ll need to deal with more than just class warfare--they’ll need to safeguard their country from chaos.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.43/day in the week to Sep 3 → 1.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
Hasta ahora el más débil de todos los Trails. Los personajes están super bien y el gameplay es más accesible que nunca pero la historia deja mucho que desear. Por suerte el 2 mejora en todo, pero aún se queda corto en comparación con los demás
Score: 5/10

Art: Good. The jump to 3D adds a fresh element to the experience. Seeing the characters, monsters, and environments from this new perspective makes everything more engaging from the start.
Music: Excellent, as expected from the series. The soundtrack is one of the strongest aspects and consistently supports both atmosphere and battles very well.
Story: Good, but the structural choices are questionable. Starting again from zero with a new cast of high-school characters after the last five games feels like an odd decision, likely intended to appeal to a younger audience. The development of the main conflict is extremely slow; three chapters in and almost nothing substantial happens with the main villain. It takes around four chapters for the plot to finally move, which is roughly 20–30 hours of playtime. The school festival in chapter 5 feels like filler, and the concert lacks an original song despite how much buildup it receives. The ending is quite good, but it arrives too late. There is a huge amount of optional dialogue for players interested in character interaction. With many main characters (even if Rean is clearly the central one), it is easy to find someone you like, but the story often splits the cast by chapter, meaning you sometimes progress without the characters you prefer. Overall, the pacing is a serious problem; the game feels too much like a prolonged prologue. It is understandable given the number of characters and locations, and the fact the saga spans multiple titles, but it is still frustrating.
Gameplay: There are improvements over previous entries, both in combat (thanks to the transition to 3D) and in equipment systems, particularly quartz and arts. Cities are much larger compared with past games. However, boss design and balance are highly uneven. The chapter 6 final boss is poorly tuned: you face two sub-bosses, then a main boss with an S-Craft that can wipe almost the entire party in one hit, while the sub-bosses also hit extremely hard. There are wild difficulty spikes within the same area; you can clear mobs effortlessly in under a turn, yet the boss can crush you in two. This becomes worse at higher difficulties. As in previous games, bosses have devastating S-Crafts that are not telegraphed, and the only reliable defense is grinding or spamming protective arts. The final dungeon is unnecessarily long and linear, and certain sections force annoying backtracking if you do not complete them in the intended order.
Accessibility: Very limited. There is no way to reread previously seen text, and difficulty cannot be changed once selected and the game has started. There are no visual accessibility options for players with vision issues. Controller support exists, but that is basically it.
Other: Character sprites moving while talking look unnatural; their motion during dialogue often feels odd. Character movement itself is clunky, and control options had to be adjusted through Steam to feel more fluid. It is also distracting that some scenes have voice acting while others do not, even within the same sequence.
Overall Experience: A solid entry with good music and competent presentation, but weighed down by serious pacing issues, uneven difficulty, and some questionable design choices. It works as an introduction to a new arc, but it often feels like an overly extended prologue rather than a fully satisfying story. It’s said that the plot improves a lot in the following games, and that does create interest in continuing the series; however, the pacing problems remain and don’t completely go away.

most disgusting below mid slop ive ever had to sit through honestly. A form of torture honestly if you're forced to continuously play this. when i've EVER seen someone criticizing or hating on a game most people actually like and been confused.... THIS is my specific individual moment just like that where im that person leaving the review, this is NOT a good game

peak 10/10
Despite really good game mechanics, this game is a terrible disappointment. The story is awfully boring and the characters are poorly written. Waste of time and money.
bruh this is me replaying it lol. first trails game holds a special place in my heart, but be sure to play this series in order (sky FC first)
Прикольно. В целом средненько в сравнении с trails in the sky.
I recently got into the trails series from sky FC remake and I loved it (what an ending btw) I was recommended ToCS due to it being (relatively) spoiler free compared to the other games in the series as i wait for the 2nd chapter remake. ToCS has this way of being interestingly written despite being hella troupe-y and cliche at times, it feels like it leans into it. Like I felt the same way to an extent with FC where the writing was simple and even predictable but just the worldbuilding and individual arcs gradually pull you in and create such an interesting overarchcing narrative that was better than the sum of its individual parts, I couldn't help but want to see where things where going. One critique I have that links to this is the final chapter where it feels like the game needs to fill a jrpg quota and pulls a persona and
introduces mechs at the very end, which felt like it was not foreshadowed properly.
I also felt the reveal of
(the traitor) to be kind of a stretch like some parts in retrospect DO make sense but the voice playing from the airship at the end of Chapter 5 was stupid imo
It may feel dated in some ways for example the graphics which i do get esp since trails is a long series but I genuinely have found it to not hurt my experience at all, Infact I would say the style adds to the charm of the game. If you like long form story telling and slow burn worldbuilding PLEASE try the Trails series. I genuinely cannot put into words how excited I am to play through the rest of the series as I try my best to avoid spoilers.
