Hailed as one of the largest, longest and most meticulously detailed turn-based JRPG series of all time, this first chapter in the ongoing Trails saga sets the stage for what's quickly become Ys developer Nihon Falcom's most popular and best-selling franchise in their entire 30+ year history.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.43/day in the week to Sep 3 → 0.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I did not expect to play a game that's so focused on character interactions! I love its unique turn based, shaman king power of spirit style. You cannot afford to waste your turns, especially during more difficult fights, while also maintaining your special gauges to unleash the ultimates/crafts at the best time. I must say that I'm completely into the story and its characters, glad to know there are multiple entries in this franchise, since the lore keeps expanding the more we explore, characters get developed at a satisfying rate, unlike alot of games where they are mostly stagnant and not knowing much about them even after finishing said game. I have nothing but praise for this one as I'm ready to jump onto the next one and see what it has to offer!
I found this game after playing the demo of remake of the 1st chapter, I like turn-based RPGs and I decided to try original game first also because of it's top-down camera angle and it's old but cool stylish graphic, and as it turns out it's a peak. I really liked the story because of the ending and now Im hooked to play the second chapter but not the OG game. I tried it, now i know what it was like and I wanna play new remakes now. And lack of voiceover was putting me off of playing Trails because it's a 50 hours game and there's a lot of reading. Voiceover is huge reason for me to play remake of 1st chapter now. Here's my thought on gameplay of the trails: I didnt understand 'skill' and 'action' mechanics with quartz for the first 10 hours and than after re-reading in-game tutorials i got it, and it's cool skills system that I didnt meet anywhere yet I didnt like that there's so little accessory with 'unique' features like " now your normal attack will use fire element". I found only 2 of those items with fire element and water element. Any other accessory was just complete removal of one negative status of something like +2 DEF. It's kinda boring and I hope in remake I will see something more interesting. Also in town's shops where you can buy weapons there's always a choice of 2 weapons of the same type where one of them is always just better but a little bit expensive (If you do some side quests you will always have money to but better stuff so there's no actual choice here, you just get the best one in shop or find it in dungeons). I would like to have a choice of weapon maybe with same damage but different effects like more range or some negative effect on hit, just to make gameplay even more interesting. And also you can accidentally escape the fight even if you didnt want to because there is no conformation for that button. When I was farming I misclicked it 2 times but it's not a big deal because of ability to speed up gameplay. Lastly it's the final dungeon of the game. Maybe I builded my party wrong but every usual mob fight took me like 2 or more minutes even with speed-up mode so it was kinda joykilling also because of equipment that you can find there you had to fight every time you open a chest. Everything else was just amazing: cooking, music, combat. Also Steam Deck runs it perfectly in 90 fps but default controls are not great.

used to play this game when i was little, then i kinda forgot about it and tried to find it again until today. and honestly it was very worth it
Aun teniendo remake, sigue siendo un buen juego
I've fallen in love with this game several times during my playthrough. The first time, when I heard The Whereabouts of Light . I swear, memories of things that never were haunt me ever since. Then again each time a new character was introduced. This game heavily relies on dialogues and interaction, and even if some of them are more on the cringy-side, every character brings fresh and enjoyable dynamics to the table. And again, when I found that every little story progress changes the dialogues with the NPCs. The sheer amount of words here is mindboggling. How much love did they put into this project? Finally, when I realized I've been playing just the introduction to a deep, wide and beautiful saga. Had to control myself not to immediately start SC after the finale. Would definitely recommend.
Абсолютный шедевр. Никогда не подумал что игра 2004 года может довести меня (20 летнего лба) до слёз после прохождения. 11 подарков мальчишек из 10
Peakest of peak (also trust me get the mod which restores the Japanese voice acting it makes a world of difference)
The ending made me cry. Can't wait to spend a few hundred hours playing through the rest of this amazing series.
RGP clásico con batallas de turnos, lindos escenarios en 3D y personajes en pixeles.
