Picking up shortly after The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, Estelle travels across Liberl in search of Joshua. The journey involves more than seeking loved ones, however, as the Bracer Guild also tasks her with unraveling the mysteries behind the newly unveiled Society of Ouroboros.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.71/day in the week to Sep 3 → 1.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

If you played the first chapter (and you have to do that if you want to play this one) then you already know what you're getting into. This is the same. Same pacing, same balance between story and action. The difference is that everything is bigger in the sequel. The stakes, the relationships, the gravity of the situation these bracers find themselves in. This is an incredibly well done sequel. I will admit I got a little thin with the game around the 40% mark but I'm so glad I stuck with things because everything really does take off after the slump. By the end credits I was fully invested in this game anew and wondering if maybe I would play that 3rd entry right away. The Legend of Heroes series is all about a player's emotional connection with vulnerable characters. These are more like novels than crunchy AD&D scenarios. If you are open to that you will have a great time playing these because, really, no other game does what they do as well.

Best sequel ever!
Nightmare difficulty is indeed nightmare, not for the faint of heart.
Awesome game! Really epic. What a dramatic improvement on the 1st. Holy, what a storyline. So so good. Best JRPG series in the world. Play it!

Trails in the Sky SC feels like a game you can revisit after some time away, load up New Game Plus, try new quartz layouts, and lean into different party members. Once you know the twists, it shifts into a comfort replay where the joy sits in character moments and small side stories across Liberl.

💙Favorites 💬 Payoff To The Slow Burn: FC lays the groundwork. SC takes that foundation and delivers huge emotional moments, several answers, and a satisfying continuation of Estelle and Joshua’s story. It feels like one long game cut in half, in a good way. 💬 Estelle Front And Center: Estelle gets so much space to grow here. Her reactions, grief, stubbornness, hope, and determination carry the whole game, and I loved watching her step into her own as a bracer and as a person. 💬 Cast & Relationships: Party members feel richer this time, with more focus on their histories and links to the wider plot. Small conversations in towns land harder after everything that happened in FC, so the world feels even more lived in. 💬 Bigger Stakes, Same Cozy Liberl: The story scales up into strange tech, ancient threats, and wild set pieces, yet you still spend plenty of time helping normal people with grounded problems. That mix keeps the journey grounded in humanity. This is one of the reasons Star Wars connects with me so much, and to see it accomplished in a long series is fantastic. 💬 Increasing Combat Strat: Boss fights and late-game encounters push the craft, art, and quartz system more, so positioning and builds matter. It still feels like the same grid-based combat, just with sharper teeth and more interesting party options. 💬 Soundtrack Level Up: The music goes even harder than FC. Battle themes, tense dungeon tracks, and emotional story songs hit right where they need to, and there are scenes I can recall just from thinking about the background music that played there. 💬 Perfect Follow-Up On Deck: Just like FC, SC feels very natural on Steam Deck. Long stretches are great for bed or couch sessions, and it is nice to carry both halves of the story as a little JRPG duology in handheld form.

🛠️Improvements 💭 Long Dungeons & Backtracking: Some late-game areas run a bit long, with big multi-floor dungeons and stretches that ask for repeat trips through old zones. That structure fits the story, though it can drag if you are tired or focused on pure progression. 💭 Hidden Quests For 100%: SC loves missable quests, points, and little flags that affect rewards. Great for people who enjoy guides and combing every map; a bit stressful if you want 100% in a blind run. (I for one, loved it). 💭 Still Text Heavy, Still Quiet: Like FC, this release leans on written dialogue with very limited voice work without a patch. I played it that way and still loved it, although a fully voiced version in the future would fit the scope of the story really nicely.

🎯Verdict Absolutely recommended. Trails in the Sky SC takes the slow burn of FC and turns it into a huge emotional payoff, with bigger stakes, heavier scenes, and some of my favorite character growth in a JRPG. The writing, world building, and relationships are the real stars here, and finishing SC made the entire Liberl arc feel like a staple story I will think about for a long time. On Steam Deck it pairs perfectly with FC as a two-part saga for long, cozy sessions. If you already liked FC or you care deeply about strong stories, expansive worlds, and memorable characters, this is an easy must-play.

Nices teil!
Irrefutably better than the first game, however the gameplay loop is pretty much the same and I find the game to be seriously boring at times. I really wanted to finish all 3 in this trilogy but I don't think I have it in me. Maybe some other time... EDIT So I did end up sticking with it. It seriously picks up by Chapter 5 and onwards. There's still a ton of cliches and other issues, bit the story unfolds, you get to know your companions better, the fights become more challenging. All in all, I had fun at the end, so thumbs up.
