About
Lured in by shared nightmares, madmen travel to a remote island crowned by a silent Tower. No one remembers the journey.
The Lantern of the Laughless Saint is an open world RPG built around exploration and connection. You learn the land by walking it, following rumors, reading scraps of burned history, and meeting lost souls who wandered to the ends of the Earth, following the same feverish dream of a light buried beneath the Tower.
Somewhere in the depths is a theater with an empty stage, waiting for an audience. As you repair or ruin the lives of the island's inhabitants, the phantoms they leave behind take their seats in the audience. The more seats you fill, the more the island listens, and the greater the applause for your final act.
And if you don’t want to descend alone, you don’t have to. The entire game is fully playable in co-op: explore the island together, delve into the depths for treasures, and make the choices that will decide the fate of everyone on the island, and beyond...
A wild, ancient island to explore
Follow leads, find shortcuts into the Tower, stumble into side stories, and piece together what is real and what is mere delusion.
Open Ended
Most quests have multiple resolutions. Mercy, violence, compromise, deceit.
A large cast of bizarre characters
Many strange folk find their home on the island. A giant toad learning to read. An ancient skeleton who just wants to swim. A musician from a faraway land hunts for something precious. Everyone has a theory for why you’re here. None of them agree.
The Amphitheater
Your choices change the world. Treat others with kindness and generosity, and a trusted friend will take their seat in your audience. Fail or abuse them, and something darker takes their place. The House fills either way.
Visceral Combat with multiple weapon types
Punchy combat against strange horrors
Full co-op
Play the whole game together. Explore the world, share the spoils, and decide who you will become, because the consequences belong to all of you.
The Tower does not call the whole. It calls the broken, the wanting.
Fill the seats. Start the performance. Find out what is buried at the bottom of the well.

Amazing gameplay, great art direction.
It's still got a ways to go, and I hope for more content for sure, but it's an enjoyable start! I like the vibe, the graphics are tolerable. I wish some things were a little better explained - like the perk that deals 30% more damage to enemies with weapons and 30% to enemies without weapons - I assume this is checking whether the enemy has weapons or not, but I could also see it checking me (basically me doing more weapon damage and less magic damage). Another thing - it'd be nice to know what all slots I can equip stuff in. And fix the hyper-sensitive guards - I didn't even steal anything (since the last time the guard was nice to me) and I am getting fined...

Games fun, however if your friend is too far and you teleport it crashes so dont teleport to far for now
Morrowind vibes with a ton of jank thrown in, Game is flat ugly which is off-putting a bit.

Took a day of playing before I could figure out how to cast spells. I don't know where anything is or what I'm doing and I'm afflicted with a curse the effect of which is entirely unknowable. You would never see issues like this in a AAA title, and here I am having the most fun I've had with a game since Morrowind.
among a wide catalog of many good indie games on steam this game is kind of bad, in fact at the moment this game is a putrid pile of anus puke every ai is broken the textures all look like my hairy brown orangutan ass the lore made me really sleepy though and i do have sleeping problems so that was nice + rep ! the levels are way too big and super empty the megastructure look was pretty cool in that first dungeon for like five minutes and the lighting is doodoo ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ which is why theres 1000 very visible light entities thrown about randomly in the air also whats up with those random out of place electrical switches i see potential in this game but it needs some more time in the oven or maybe devs that arent mentally handicapped illiterate indian techbros! no idea if they are any of those things im just assuming :D buy game if you like morrowind but none of the good parts just the jank anyways im 15 and i have never ever ever played an elder scrolls game or an rpg for that matter. going back to roblox porn permananently after this game ruined my perceptions of steam being in any ways a good platrform to play games on ♥♥♥♥ you :steamhappy: fif you downvote my review you are a pedophile
meh..
An engaging, if paired back, open world RPG in the vein of Morrowind. It focuses mainly on combat and exploration, so stealth stats are difficult to level, lockpicking and pickpocketing in particular have a relatively limited number of opportunities for use. You can still be a sneak/archer build though. For the most part the exploration is engaging, a nice variety of the usual biomes and a pleasingly weird fungus biome too. It leans into the weirder side of early Bethesda RPGs and is better for it. Whilst the overall story has interesting beats, it is currently heavily weighted towards the climax and more ongoing narrative would be welcome. There's a deliberate lack of quest markers and this can be an issue as certain characters can be hard to find or return to. A quest marker for the hand-in phase of a quest would be a welcome change in many cases. The difficulty is present at first, but you quickly outpace the challenge. The general approach is lots of low level enemies with the occasional very high level elite or miniboss, and this makes the challenge curve feel strange. There's not a great sense of general progression in difficulty nor is there any indication of whether or not your prepared for an area before a fight breaks out. Alchemy is present and near identical to the Bethesda system, which is great. I couldn't find a way to apply harmful potions to weapons, meaning anything with a negative effect is largely wasted. Overall, there are plenty of rough edges, sometimes clicking to attack stops working until you hit the tab key twice to jump in and out of the menus. But I would give this a strong recommendation all the same. It certainly has the nostalgic feel of Morrowind. It will be interesting to see what is added and refined as development progresses.
