About
Lured in by shared nightmares, madmen travel to a remote island crowned by a silent Tower. No one remembers the journey.
The Lantern of the Laughless Saint is an open world RPG built around exploration and connection. You learn the land by walking it, following rumors, reading scraps of burned history, and meeting lost souls who wandered to the ends of the Earth, following the same feverish dream of a light buried beneath the Tower.
Somewhere in the depths is a theater with an empty stage, waiting for an audience. As you repair or ruin the lives of the island's inhabitants, the phantoms they leave behind take their seats in the audience. The more seats you fill, the more the island listens, and the greater the applause for your final act.
And if you don’t want to descend alone, you don’t have to. The entire game is fully playable in co-op: explore the island together, delve into the depths for treasures, and make the choices that will decide the fate of everyone on the island, and beyond...
A wild, ancient island to explore
Follow leads, find shortcuts into the Tower, stumble into side stories, and piece together what is real and what is mere delusion.
Open Ended
Most quests have multiple resolutions. Mercy, violence, compromise, deceit.
A large cast of bizarre characters
Many strange folk find their home on the island. A giant toad learning to read. An ancient skeleton who just wants to swim. A musician from a faraway land hunts for something precious. Everyone has a theory for why you’re here. None of them agree.
The Amphitheater
Your choices change the world. Treat others with kindness and generosity, and a trusted friend will take their seat in your audience. Fail or abuse them, and something darker takes their place. The House fills either way.
Visceral Combat with multiple weapon types
Punchy combat against strange horrors
Full co-op
Play the whole game together. Explore the world, share the spoils, and decide who you will become, because the consequences belong to all of you.
The Tower does not call the whole. It calls the broken, the wanting.
Fill the seats. Start the performance. Find out what is buried at the bottom of the well.

Sooooooo janky right now. - can't sit/sleep - I'm taking half health damage from a lvl1 skeleton but can wipe out a lvl 30 NPC no problem - my settings choices reset every time I die or log out. - the economy is broken, I'm selling everything at face value and basic leather boots are like 500 coins. - it bugs all the way out some times where the map is just bouncing around and then we're back to normal. - pretty frequent game crashes. Lots of potential though. I'll leave it for a week or so and come back to check in.
It’s got a lot going, but upon finishing it I feel very unsatisfied. Endings can be vague, but they should be satisfying too, this wasn’t not. The ending really kinda sucked for me because
they have it kinda set up so only one person actually gets an ending, while the other is put aside
. Left an extremely bad taste in my mouth. I think the update that allowed single player characters onto multiplayer worlds was a bad choice. The game performance suffered immensely, with constant auto saves causing frequent desyncs (though this has been fixed) and joining multiplayer is harder now, less consistent. Before it was so easy to just click join game and get in. Now you need to choose a save, worry if save states match, blah blah blah. And, no quests done in multiplayer carry to your single player (as the guest) so like… what’s the point? I wanted to try to
experience the ending myself, but I couldn’t because I’d have to replay the entire game. Stats are saved, but not progress
? Spell crafting is cool though. Wish you could edit spells you’ve made, and it can get super expensive. And a major gripe is how easy it was. I used two handed weapons, and killed the majority of enemy in 1 or 2 hits. Even bosses went down quick
though I didn’t get to fight the final boss, so, maybe he’d be hard
. The first little bit is a challenge, but when the steamroll comes it doesn’t stop. No quest markers is fun and challenging when done right, here it isn’t. One quest simply said our goal was north of a town. It was barely north, and far more west than north at that. We might’ve found it quicker if we were given better instructions, but we weren’t. It needs better instructions given. WoW Classic doesn’t offer marker, but it works. Because NPCs give good instructions. All in all, I had fun, but feel very unsatisfied.
Also, the concept of it mattering who filled your audience seemed pointless. They were different colors but I don’t think it changed the ending AT ALL
. I’d wait around, many updates improve the game and add new stuff, it’ll probably be so much better in just a few months. And when out of early access, hopefully it’ll be amazing.

Spent an hour in town crouched and walking back and forth to get sneak up. 10/10. My only real complaint is that night is super dark and impossible to see. Same with interiors, and I don't see any proper brightness settings in game.
Loving the game so far, only major issue I have found is there is this weird camera clipping glitch where camera POV sinks into your knees and there is no fix, hoping the devs see this so it can be looked into and worked on. Issue occurred in the amphitheatre area of the map
It's been working fairly well, only 1-2 crashes in multiplayer so not too bad. The pole vailting perk is broke unfortunately Other than that, suuuuuper fun game
Absolutely beautiful stuff.
Ive been having a good amount of fun so far. The devs seem to be quick with the hot fixes as well which is a major plus. It is an early access game so there are lots of bugs and some crashing but the game has been "out" for 2 days so it was expected. There are a lot of familiar things like the perk system, lockpicking, stealth, stolen items, and alchemy. With all that said, the lore is unique and fun from what ive seen. I personally think its worth picking up, but it depends on what youre willing to put up with.

If whimsical was a game
I can't play properly. I'm averaging 20 fps or less on the lowest settings. I really want to play this game, but unfortunately, it's very poorly optimized right now. I hope they can fix it as soon as possible. I'm looking forward to playing it once it's actually playable.
