About
On Sunday the 7th of March, 1936, a group of locals made their way up the long, muddy track to Galley House. As far as any of them knew, the house had stood empty for decades.
Inside, they discovered the bloody aftermath of something horrific.
The authorities were summoned, and the crime scene was eventually cleared away. But nobody ever figured out what happened that dreadful night. It seemed likely that no one ever would.
Now, many years later, you have access to a peculiar machine — one that lets you listen in on echoes of the past. Can you piece together the events behind The Incident at Galley House?

Great deduction/mystery game. Overstays its welcome a bit but does an incredible job of pacing the information and mystery to keep it engaging. If you like Obra Dinn or Golden Idol, this is right up there with those greats.
This was a nice little mystery game. Not too obscure or ridiculous to solve, but a good challenge. Enjoyable artwork and voice work. The story got a little shaky and didn't really wrap up cleanly, but that didn't really diminish enjoying the game. A solid B rating.

A deduction game in the vein of Obra Dinn, Golden Idol, or the Roottrees. Like the Roottrees, it's based on a free game that was published on itch.io, then given a substantial glow up (Type Help was a command-line simulator with no graphics nor audio) and an extended ending to be released at a very reasonable price. I enjoyed the game very much. Piecing together clues to find new scenes, understanding the core mystery, then figuring out the overall timeline of all people, was really great. The presentation is really nice overall: the backgrounds are a bit bland, but the audios (the heart of the game) are really well done, the machine UI is clean and very user-friendly, and the notebook features well thought-out. On the negative side, the ending (as in the last 15 minutes, out of a 10h or so game) was quite underwhelming, and looking back a little inconsistent with the rules of the universe, as the author obviously tried to create a conclusion for the "full game" and ended up with something weaker than the rest of the game. The journey there was very enjoyable nonetheless, which is what matters most. A solid entry in my collection of deduction game.
found 'type help' in a reddit thread some weeks ago and lost my tab and with it my progress. this is when i learned this adaptation was only days away from release. just finished my playthrough and must say i really enjoyed it. i especially found the third act quite satisfying. 4.5 stars from me
Great whodunnit, even if a little bit too cryptic at times. I wish I had more tools to note certain informations on the timeline and use the portraits in it to cross out who isn't there anymore because the notepad is quite finnicky. I'd recommend it to all fans of golden idol and obra dinn.
I would absolutely reccomend this to those who seek a thrilling and layered mystery game! I went into this having already played "The Roottrees are Dead", but I knew virtually nothing about this one. That, I feel only elevated the experience, creating a similar exploratory effect as with "Outer Wilds". I ended up spending a lot of time thinking about the events of the game inbetween play-sessions, which is rare for me. Too often, I feel like games like these rely on massive leaps in logic for the story to make sense, or to solve the puzzles, but that rarely happened here. I only needed to make use of the hints a couple of times, nearly all of which resulted in a "duh", which really only means that it was my own impatience that was lacking, rather than the required puzzle pieces. In general the hints are very good because they are actual hints, and not just answers. The only exception to this was *potential spoiler alert* towards the end of the first segment of the game, where I had already collected all the necessary information, I just couldnt piece it all together, and I had to clock through nearly all of the hints, to get to one that didnt give me information I alrady knew. A little annoying, but really nothing but a minor detail. I kind of wish it was possible to turn the hints off, as it felt a little too tempting to press it whenever I got stuck, but I guess thats mainly a case of self control. The game is kind of short, but it also lasted longer than I had expected, which made the price so much more worth it. Thank you for making this amazing game! I will be looking forward to whatever this studio produces next!
