About
On Sunday the 7th of March, 1936, a group of locals made their way up the long, muddy track to Galley House. As far as any of them knew, the house had stood empty for decades.
Inside, they discovered the bloody aftermath of something horrific.
The authorities were summoned, and the crime scene was eventually cleared away. But nobody ever figured out what happened that dreadful night. It seemed likely that no one ever would.
Now, many years later, you have access to a peculiar machine — one that lets you listen in on echoes of the past. Can you piece together the events behind The Incident at Galley House?

Perfectly scratches the mystery itch. I like this one more than The Roottrees Are Dead and the Rise of the Golden Idol. I think the Obra Dinn is still the gold standard for me, and I put it on par with Case of the Golden Idol. I'm big on atmosphere and like historical settings, so if that's your thing then this is a slam-dunk purchase.
This game is haunting. I played it in one sitting a week ago, and I still keep thinking about it. I might even fire it back up to see if there's a scene the achievements aren't counting. The story, the mystery, the art, the voice acting, it's all superb. I was already following this developer after Seance at Blake Manor, and they do not disappoint.

OH BOY this is the most fun game ive played all year. Its a database deduction game kind of like Obra dinn, Roottrees and TR-49. Where you try to figure out how everyone in the house died. To do this you need to use context clues to know which rooms have which people in it at a certain hour. If you get it all right you get to see a cutscene from that moment, where you can gleam new information. The atmosphere is great. The music is lovely. The voice acting is actually good (looking at you UNHEARD) Truly the best deduction game I've played in a long time. If you love any of the beforementioned game you will do yourself an favor by playing this game
What a great little game. It's a murder mystery a la "And there were none", but with a twist that makes it more unpredictable and interesting for the characters. The story is great, as are the characters - voice actors did a wonderful job here. There's also a terrific hint system, you never feel like an idiot when using it, and often it gives you just enough nudge to get back on track. I had plenty of fun here, even though the gameplay is just sitting at the machine and inputting codes.
Overall: 5/10 - Worth a Weekend Story: 5/10 World: 5/10 Bosses: n/a Gameplay: 6/10 Difficulty: 5/10 The main draw of this game is the deductive puzzles. The story and gameplay are nothing particularly special, but the main enjoyment comes from piecing together the main mystery. It gets a little stale quicker then I would like, but its a short enough game that it didnt keep me from having fun.
banger alert
Jump back in time to watch scenes play out like Obra Dinn, but you've got a machine that lets you jump to exactly where you want (even down to the exact line of dialogue) without having to watch the same transition over and over. Piece together relationships and motives like Roottrees, but it's a murder mystery instead of genealogical research. Setting reminiscent of one of the best Agatha Christie novels but with spooky stuff and a completely different cast. This one sets a new standard for detective/deduction games that really make you use your brain. I want to especially call out just how good it feels to lock in a code. You think successfully locking in three correct answers feels good in Obra Dinn/Roottrees? Try this. The UI is also excellent. There's a ton of information and they give you all the tools you need to cross-reference it by time/person/location, bookmark important parts of scenes, and take notes.
One of the best deduction games since Return of the Obra Dinn
Do you love “& then there were none”? Coincidentally, I just watched a reimagining of the play recently and that spurred my decision to buy this game day one. My track record: I’m a huge sucker for these puzzle games (Return of the Obra Dinn / Rootrees are Dead / Lorelei & The Laser Eyes / Case of the Golden Idol ) I had not touch the original “Type Help” text-based game at all. But you know what’s the testament for how much I loved it? Whilst I was out on my workday, I couldn’t stop thinking about Galley House and started up “Type Help” to get me through my morbid curiosity. Those small ‘tests’ helped to solidify some of my theories and I rushed home to see the full scene in the Galley House. This is a game that needs you to be crystal clear on the order in which things happen and to latch on to conversational nuggets. It’s not hard and does lack a quantity of ‘a-ha’ moments. But the light bulb moments… they do shine bright. One of the biggest ones is a huge deviation from the original ‘Type Help’ so I still strongly recommend original players to come and try the remake!
