The Graveyard is a very short computer game. You play an old lady who visits a graveyard. You walk around, sit on a bench and listen to a song. It's more like an explorable painting than an actual game. An experiment with poetry and storytelling but without words.

I think this game should be seen as an art project more than a game with exciting gameplay and an interesting story. The game revolves around walking on a straight line and looking at the graveyard. You play as an elderly woman who decides to go sit on a bench and rest for a while. As she sits, a song starts to play and after it ends, the woman either dies on the bench or walks away from the graveyard. It would be more fun going to a graveyard than ever playing this. Some may say the game is telling a larger story that can only feel meaningful if the player fills in the blanks themself. This game is abstract and feels like they made it just to get easy money. I think games under 20 minutes should be free. Now, you don't need to play it since what I described is the entire game it is really bad and a complete nothing burger. I was robbed of my money with this one, save your money for something meaningful.

Great indie game from the dawn of the indie game era brought to us by Unity. Shows how minimal interaction can create an experience entirely different from an animation or short film.
First thing first, I got this in a game bundle that I bought and figured I'd just go ahead and try it. The arguments about it being $5 USD are fair. The game: Walking in a straight line, wait a bit at a bench until she sits, listen to a song, get up and walk out. There is no exploring, no reading the gravestones, no visiting, just... going and leaving. Now that said, would I recommend this on a very good sale? Yes. The slow, shuffling movement, the breathing and adjusting when you walk to far, the difficulty in walking more than 4 steps at a time.. it feels appropriate. As you get to the bench it gets quieter and quieter, then there is the song. As you leave, the noise and foulness of the modern world come back into focus, louder and louder as you get to the end. Police sirens, ambulances, cars, just.. noise. Like she walked to her death, the final silence and rest, and then after breathing and feeling what awaits her, went back out into the fray for a bit longer. So artistically, it's very nice. It's very symbolic and the art style is very good for the theme. Now, that said: The song.. I don't really like, not so much the message but the words and I'm not a big fan of the singer. I feel like they could have had an older woman sing it. The controls are like really bad tank controls. It's very difficult to get her to turn or move. I know this because I attempted to explore... which, they should be exploration. The bench was difficult to get her to sit on and I ended up just backing her into the bench and letting her stand while I looked it up - then she sat on her own. I'd have liked a button that started an animation of her adjusting to try to sit. All in all though, I see the complaints and the 'Do not recommends' are valid. Personally, since I got it for like $1, I think it was an okay little 18 minutes and in my particular situation I'd say it was worth it, and if you get it free or for a dollar or less, then yes - go ahead and experience it. At the same time, you can watch a video and experience it the same way.. but I feel it is recommended.
Impressive and slow. Powerful and without a real finale. A must-play. Eindrucksvoll und langsam. Wirkmächtig und ohne echtes Finale. Sollte man mal gespielt haben.
It's weird and short but I kind of like weird, short things. It's more of a nice little piece of art. I experienced it, but not the same way others experienced it. In this economy $5 is a lot for some folks, but I don't mind giving $5 for a weird, short, experience.
I walked very slowly to the bench, turned to sit, and did so. Saw a close up of my face, then I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ died and couldn't close the game. 10/10 would review in 2026 again
感官类型的游戏,非常艺术,游戏虽没有什么操作性,这也是它的独特之处,喜欢就会为他买单。
I suspect that you will either love or hate this. And if you don't love it, it is expensive for what it is. I enjoy it very much but that's maybe because I enjoy graveyards in real life. I think this very short piece of cinema (it isn't a game) manages to capture that melancholic feeling of knowing we must die really well. Two points worth mentioning: it won't stop unless I press the "windows" key and then press "stop" on the steam screen. And the subtitled song is in Dutch.
