About

Scavenge and fight for your next day alive under the shadow of gargantuan war machines. Enemies in the game can literally tower over the battlefield. To put it another way:

The battlefield is unpredictable thanks to The Forever Winter’s Dynamic Encounter system: enemies have their own goals and agendas, operating in coordinated groups, undertaking full-scale battles — and they’ll intelligently react to your actions. The battlefield you leave won’t be the same one you return to.
Use your wits, stealth, and skilled gunplay to make it out alive. Choose your path in the shadow of the two great superpowers, loot the dead, and make it out alive. While the warring factions may ignore you at first, the more disruptive you become to their goals, the more they'll seek to remove you from the equation.
Ecological collapse compounded by runaway technological advancement brought us here: a dystopian world choked by 40 years of industrial-scale violence between two military superpowers, AI automata, cybernetically enhanced soldiers, human-machine hybrids, and relentless automated warfare. There's two sides to this war, and you're not on either.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Cool lore but bad everything else, would give positive rating if they added an option to customise the players appearance.
So this is how i put it to my mate: So you know when you first watched terminator 1 and you saw that scene of the war in the future with giant machines blasting away at some guys in a technical while others ran and hid amongst the dirt......remember how your heart cried out that that was the film you wanted to see.....but we never really got .....do you wanna go there?
It definitely needs a lot of work and might be worth waiting for. As of now the updates are very consisted containing fixes and new content(while also breaking the game). I'm quite optimistic that it will turn out to be something.
WARNING: I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO HAVE A GPU WITH ~10GB OF VRAM OR MORE RATHER THAN RELY SOLELY ON THE MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS Bought this game day one to support the development and started playing it recently since a lot of the game's muscle has been wrapped around the beautifully crafted bones. It is still janky because the animations could do with some refining, the spawning system still needs work, and ai generally needs some improvements to make them more lively such as by allowing them to make more advanced tactical maneuvers, i.e., leaning corners, throwing hand grenades, suppressive fire. Additionally, more weapon variety and gear unlocks through quests ala Escape from Tarkov would add more to the progression. Nonetheless, I am definitely enjoying my experience for the following reasons: The tunnels added a more meaningful way to onboard new players and allow them to learn the game and build up xp, credits, and loot before they decide to head out into the main maps. The game is such a feast for the eyes, seeing 3 Europan Medium Mechs shoulder to shoulder wrecking havok is a sight to behold. The music is even better with vol. 2. I appreciate the game's challenge because it is based more on one's own awareness and ability to plan and adapt to different situations rather than your character's stats. lastly, as the warning above states, I highly recommend a gpu with 10gb or more of VRAM because there are moments where I go above 8gb of vram usage, such as on ashen mesa, while my render resolution is set to 50% on medium graphics. That being said, performance has definitely improved and I am able to run the game with an Arc B390 iGPU with 12 Xe cores and VRAM set to 11.9gb at ~50-70fps (no frame gen just tsr upscaling).
The game is not "broken" nowadays, but it's still unacceptably buggy for being a year in. However, what's underneath the unacceptably buggy framework is an incredibly remarkable game which I absolutely adore; it's the closest thing I have to a "favorite game" of the last few years. It's a fast-paced, high tension escape room full of giant robots. Most rooms feel more like a puzzle than they do combat: it teaches you to think "how do I get through alive?" rather than "alright, time to kill this squad," in most circumstances, and the danger of even basic enemies never really goes away. The enemy AI is much better nowadays, though I've definitely seen some silly stuff (member of a patrol walks off a cliff, someone bumps into a wall, etc.,), but the incredible, awful issues are all tech side. There's still somewhat frequent desynch issues and mission progress bugging out unless you're the host, which is insane a year out. But I think it's worth playing. If you like co-op horror games, if you like Tarkov, this game is probably up your alley if you can stomach some insane jank.
