Ok, so first things first, I read a lot of interactive fiction. So I know a good plot when I see one. This has that in [I]spades[I/]. I tested the demo first, and only got three chapters in before buying it. That's how hooked I was. Right from the start the writing and the setting had pulled me in and I needed to know more. Add in to that a mystery about a dead boy, a spooky supernatural setting, and an otherworldly presence and I was a goner. The writing is spectacular, the author really knows how to use tone and details to set the scene and freak you the ♥♥♥♥ out. I am usually terrified of all things horror, but this one did not give me nightmares, so that is a win, LMAO. But every time things got weird, or tense, or even slightly scary, I couldn't look away. I stayed up till almost midnight before forcing myself to get some sleep because I [I]needed[I/] to know what happened. The mystery is so superbly done; it never feels tropey, or like you can guess from the start what's going on. There was a lot of supernatural, but at the heart it was pure humanity, and that really helped sell it. The characters were all well fleshed out, believable, and different enough that I never got confused. They were are also written like normal teenagers, with plenty of diversity that it felt realistic. Anuja and Diego were my favourites, though Addy's touch of fierce sarcasm definitely helped reel me in. And of course, there's Rex, who starts the whole thing off. There's too much to say about him without spoiling it, so I urge you to read it and you'll see what I mean. All in all, this was an amazing read, and I'll definitely be playing it again to figure out what other paths I can take and discover other secrets that I might have missed on my first playthrough. That alone makes believe it's worth the price. So yeah, it's less than a fiver, and it superbly written, and will fill at least an afternoon for a single playthrough. You should definitely buy it.

One of the best games I've played. 100/10 would recommend. :)
A really interesting creepy horror/mystery story. You can choose to be with anyone but there was one character's love story that actually brought tears to my eyes (it was sad and beautiful at the same time, Im a sucker for this trope anyway). I wish there was a longer epilogue though, maybe like in the future or something? See who is with who and settling down with the chosen love interest/some gone to college. Overall, I think this is up there with some of my other favourite choice and heart games. I liked all the characters especially the dog. We need more animals in these types of stories.

I told myself that I would only play through about an hour or so of this when I started. Now, ten hours later, I'm finishing my first playthrough of the game and sitting with the end of a story that I just began. I couldn't put this story down once I started it, and the story kept me hooked all day. I am satisfied with my ending, but I am curious about how much of the story I might have missed out on based on the branching paths. I will definitely need to return to this one someday. Highly recommend for any story-driven gamers. I think the only thing that I would recommend is allowing people to go back and make difference choices from specific chapters once they have finished the game. I want to see where other paths I could take would lead me, but I also don't necessarily want to do it all again from the beginning.
Stat management is a pain in the ass. I can't enjoy it when my character is such an idiot that it sucks no matter what choice I make.
god I wish I could play this for the first time again
Incredible story with a diverse wealth of options, pathways, and endings! I am astounded by the amount of detail and consequence that each and every single choice holds. I feel as though I've never had the same path twice, and even as I've encountered endings that other players would consider "perfect" endings, I still feel like there's something, out there, that I haven't figured out. All in all, a 10/10 experience.
A really fun read! I don't usually go for horror (and this wasn't too scary if that's what you're in the market for), but it was just creepy enough to feel like the story had high stakes and had me stressing over major decisions. The characters were all well-defined and likeable, pacing was good for the most part, and yeah! Romance mechanics could have been more fleshed out, kind of preferred my first playthrough where I neglected that aspect altogether. But as always, with CoG, I tend to think of it as cheap for a book and an afternoon's entertainment, so grab it while it's on sale!
Even though this game's emotional impact and storytelling may not be on par with some of the more famous Choice of Games games, such as Choice of Magic or Heroes of Myth, it is fun. Extremely fun. That is why it is my personal favorite Choice of Games game, and why I am taking the 30 seconds necessary to leave this review. Play it! You won't regret it.
