Stat management is a pain in the ass. I can't enjoy it when my character is such an idiot that it sucks no matter what choice I make.
god I wish I could play this for the first time again
Way too punishing, feels like you need a guide not to fail every godamn interaction with obscure stats, with minimal freedom to adjust to take each situation as it comes. Feels like your character stats mean next to nothing and personality / town stats matter a lot but it's not at all easy to decipher what would change the latter or how.

Incredible story with a diverse wealth of options, pathways, and endings! I am astounded by the amount of detail and consequence that each and every single choice holds. I feel as though I've never had the same path twice, and even as I've encountered endings that other players would consider "perfect" endings, I still feel like there's something, out there, that I haven't figured out. All in all, a 10/10 experience.
A really fun read! I don't usually go for horror (and this wasn't too scary if that's what you're in the market for), but it was just creepy enough to feel like the story had high stakes and had me stressing over major decisions. The characters were all well-defined and likeable, pacing was good for the most part, and yeah! Romance mechanics could have been more fleshed out, kind of preferred my first playthrough where I neglected that aspect altogether. But as always, with CoG, I tend to think of it as cheap for a book and an afternoon's entertainment, so grab it while it's on sale!
I'm not a good review writer, but this is one of the best I've read so far.
Even though this game's emotional impact and storytelling may not be on par with some of the more famous Choice of Games games, such as Choice of Magic or Heroes of Myth, it is fun. Extremely fun. That is why it is my personal favorite Choice of Games game, and why I am taking the 30 seconds necessary to leave this review. Play it! You won't regret it.

It’s like Stranger Things Season 1 mixed with Scooby-Doo mixed with ParaNorman, in all the best ways. Really, there are few stronger hooks than playing a character everyone thinks is a murderer and getting to explore the conflict around that. Especially in the spooky and believable town that Yeonsoo Julian Kim has crafted here. You can really lean into it in several different ways—becoming angry and deciding to validate people’s fears if they are going to treat you that way, doubling-down on being nice and friendly and pleasant with everyone so they’ll see you’re a good person, becoming truly epically depressed, diving into the occult as a coping mechanism, or just trying to ignore it all and act normal. One of my favorite parts of The Fog Knows Your Name is the author’s commitment to letting the player decide whether the creepy events they encounter are truly supernatural or if there is something else at play. The game consistently offers genuine explanations that can lean one way or the other, so the player is kept guessing. Are you a Shaggy or a Velma in these situations? The fact you’re never sure only heightens the creepiness of a lot of the events. Your choices on how to interact with characters are also very diverse and almost always cover all the bases of how you’d want to react in any given situation. There are quite a few different endings to the game, and all are done well and are satisfyingly varied. There are actually THREE different mysteries to solve in the game, and unless you are really threading the needle, I think most people will only solve one or two per play-through. There are also a nice variety of tones of ending, all the way from joyful to depressing to macabre. Better yet, of the ones I’ve seen, they’ve all been satisfying. I would recommend The Fog Knows Your Name. It’s a fun, creepy title with great characters, a mystery that keeps you guessing to the end, and is probably the closest you can get to satisfying a Stranger Things itch in a Choicescript title. Plus, in my opinion, Choicescript needs all the horror titles it can get!
The best choice of games horror game. Choices matter, there are quite a few different outcomes for the story based on them and it is clear, wich stat will help wich choice. Very well written plot with balance between explenation and mystery and a great pace. The interaction with the cast fells very natural and their reactions and growth is very well written. And most importantley, unlike other games of this type (cough Fernweh Saga cough) it manages to generate an exellent atmosphere of mystery and dread while giving enough explenation about what is happening and enough interaction with the rest of the cast.
Very well-executed high school supernatural mystery. The characters are interesting and non-stereotypical yet still feel age and setting-appropriate. The plot and writing are REALLY good, and although the secret behind the fog
wasn't some massive surprise or anything, in my opinion at least,
the author did an excellent job of setting up the eerie and mysterious atmosphere, creating a tangible sense of unease that kept increasing as the story's events unfolded, and just generally did a great job with the setting and pacing to really pull you in. It delivered what you'd crave from any classic of its genre while still being original enough, it had quite an array of endings and variables to make it very much worth replaying, and was just an all around great, fun, spooky time. There's some romance in there too, though I'd say it's the least interesting part of the story for me. It can be quite punishing with stat requirements for some choices, forcing you to make difficult compromises and even possibly resort to a little min-maxing, but I feel this is not only warranted but necessary, as it is a supernatural mystery with some horror undertones. If it was more forgiving, it would have undermined the eeriness and sense of danger. All in all, an awesome read, I wish there were more like it.
