Germany, 1956. The war is over, but justice is not served. Former Nazis walk free, while their victims lie in unmarked graves. As a prosecutor, you'll unearth long-buried evidence, confront witnesses and hunt down perpetrators. Will you have the courage to bring these "ordinary men" to court?

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Jul 21 → 1.8/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About

Justice requires courage. The courage to uncover truths that no one wants to see. The courage to confront former murderers who now wear suits and command respect. The courage to be threatened, ostracised or worse. And the courage to look into the darkness and be changed forever.

You are Esther Katz, a young prosecutor who has just joined Fritz Bauer's new special unit. Your task seems impossible: to investigate crimes committed years ago, where evidence has been destroyed, witnesses silenced and the perpetrators embedded in the highest ranks of society. Every decision matters. Every interrogation can bring you closer to the perpetrator or lead you astray. Silence is your worst enemy. Time is working against you. And German society is not ready to face its past.

In 1956, Fritz Bauer and his team of “Nazi hunters” demanded justice when everyone else demanded silence. A small team of prosecutors defying an entire nation. Criminals hiding in plain sight as respected citizens. Experience their dangerous struggle through the immersive investigations. Uncover truths a country has fought to keep buried. Challenge a society desperate to rewrite its own past.

The BUGS were killin' me at times but overall I still enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere created by the art and music was especially delectable.
The premise sounds incredibly boring: investigate old criminal cases by interviewing witnesses and digging through piles of documents. But it's not! Bringing Nazi c*nts to justice is priceless! You will be fist-pumping the air when, after laying out your case in court, the judge agrees with all your arguments and sends the b*astards to jail.

A masterfully crafted detective game with a strong message. I am in awe at how incredibly deep cases are gracefully intertwined with a personal story of the main character, just enough to feel for her but not to shift focus from the horror of the investigations. Everything from voice acting and soundtrack to UI and overall design feels like a passion project, intentionally made to the highest standards of quality. I would be really proud if I was the dev. Detective part shines as well, encouraging player to dig deeper and pay attention to the details, and all of the details are important. Combining evidence for conclusions and piecing events together on the map of the crime scene is very satisfying and feels like a real detective work. The only drawback is that the base game contains only two cases, but they are a great example of quality over quantity, as each of them feels like a separate complete story with its own heroes and villains. Looking forward to DLCs
All investigation mechanics are great. I especially enjoyed the court part, where you need to prove your claims with documents. There are even different ways to prove the same point! This game absolutely needs more content, and I'm looking forward to upcoming DLC. I love everything about this game. But I became a bit more disappointed in the humanity along the way.
Absolut großartig – ich will mehr Fälle! Ich habe The Darkest Files regelrecht verschlungen.
loved it
