The Case of the Golden Idol

It's quite good. The music and sound effects are good, the art is great. I like the way you solve puzzles. The game does not hold your hand at all, but it does teach the player well. The scenes are fun to solve, and the overall story is interesting. It is rather short for the price, so I would recommend it on sale. Really the only thing that I didn't like, was how the game lays itself out. There is an overall story, but that isn't exactly clear when you're doing the first few puzzles. The scenes are spaced out just enough to where new information doesn't really make sense until you piece things together. That is why the game works. However, splitting your game into scenes like this leaves immersion to the side. You can be immersed in a scene, but once you're done...on to the next puzzle. This can sometimes feel like "work", which is why I would stop playing and come back another day. It didn't have quite a hold on me as other puzzle games that don't operate on explicit scenes or levels. I truly understand that this is due to the game's design, but I still thought it mentionable.
