The Beginner's Guide is a narrative video game from Davey Wreden, the creator of The Stanley Parable. It lasts about an hour and a half and has no traditional mechanics, no goals or objectives. Instead, it tells the story of a person struggling to deal with something they do not understand.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.57/day in the week to Aug 10 → 15/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Очень личная история. Больше слов нет
This is less of a game and more of a meta commentary on art criticism. This game is made by the creator of "The Stanley Parable", a very meta game itself. It's a showcase of games made by a fictional developer named "Coda" with commentary and interpretation about his various works and what his friends thinks the games mean. There's a bit more to the game than that, but expanding on it would risk spoilers. My theory is the creator did not care for the reception and various interpretations of The Stanley Parable and/or his other works, and made this game as a meta commentary on the nature of art interpretation. I can't say I'd recommend purchasing this game to be honest. If you're highly artistic or a game developer perhaps you'd enjoy it, but there isn't really any interactivity at all to the game. I'm not sure what you'd get out of playing the game versus watching a youtube playthrough at 1.5x speed.
i love games like this. Davey Wreden is amazing
spoilers about the narrative The game tries to tell a simple story about the uninterpretability of art (and the artist for that matter), but in doing so it tells you how to interpret art. A complete 180 from normal art interpretations where to interpret is to bring the art to life. The game is also ugly, the FOV is too low and it tries to impress you with easy textures
Aucun jeu ne m a donné plus envi de faire un jeu (+on peut bhup)
This game hit me in a way few others ever will. Coda reminds me of way I felt about game development when I tried my own hand at being an indie dev. People always invading my space, crossing my boundaries, and thus making my job harder. And because I wasn't a professional, I didn't have the resources to keep going when there were so many strangers breaking my boundaries. I felt as if none of the money I made from indie development was worth the annoyance of putting up with those bad apple individuals, they ruined the metaphorical "bunch" for me. Game spoiler here
Coda wasn't some traumatized recluse. He was just happy to make something and sick of people invading his passion.
and I'd say that's the thing I felt as well.
Started strong, but fell flat quickly. A walking simulator while you listen to the creators thoughts.
