About
This DLC follows the ending where Jan Scientist stays on the planet. Average playtime is estimated at 20 hours.
Jan Scientist can finally pursue his true calling. While other Jans left, he stayed to lead a team of new specialists - assembled by and from himself. Only a scientific crew of perfectly aligned altered Jan Scientists can offer the expertise needed to unravel the Oasis phenomenon.
Studying nature's survival here in space is a life-defining opportunity. However, this goal-oriented plan of the Jan Scientists might not be so apparent to Jan Geologist, Biologist, Chemist, or Physicist.
The Oasis, a lush paradise that shouldn't exist, becomes the mystery you will obsessively try to solve.
Terraforming the nine arenas unlocks it, forcing the landscape to yield answers. But with each seemingly right step on a research path, the planet responds with implacable earthquakes and radiation, hinting at secrets best left undiscovered.
Your biggest hurdle? Years-long planetary cycles of scorching sunrises that force you underground. Setting a functional underground base requires building in varied soils, constructing new components, and researching modules like the Cryosleep Chamber, which buys time to witness your scientific actions' long-term effects.
Still, even in cryo-slumber, increasingly vicious cycles wear down your crew’s readiness to work.
Each planetary cooldown offers a brief window to freely explore a dramatically changed surface.
Terraformed landscape opens new building possibilities, spawns bonus-providing pickables, and lets you evolve your research-essential technology by extracting and refining new planetary resources. Specialised structures further let you transform, combine, and amplify what you gather.
Field Labs introduce new assignments for alters to continue their work while you cryosleep. But will they change once faced with the vulnerability of ageing?

I did not think the DLC was as good as the base game. The base game was a lot more narrative and story, less base building. The DLC drops a lot of the narrative and focuses on base and surface building way more. I got the DLC to support the devs regardless because I loved the base game so much, but I think thats a good summary. The DLC at least has a unique ending.
OK so why thumbs down? Read it down: but be aware that it explains dlc story
Imagine waiting 1 fookin YEAR or actually IRL where everyone talks about dlc to finally explain one side mission mystery that was most interesting side mission to find lush oasis full of plants and water on barren land planet full of anomalies... everyone speculated planed may be alive and oasis is like central myselium network or something... like by pulling radium out it should trigger planet deffense system as planet may be alive and the rapidium is its growth hormons of GIGANTIC cells... i mean i hoped on something like that yes... guess what i got in this fookin dlc 1) one literallly lobotomised scientist 2) to find out almost 20 k years he is on that planet just cloning himself 3) and then at one point he just destroys everything and starts over cloning 4) endings are most idiotic : you either clone yourself or just die in oasis 5) NEVER anything is explained how or why or what is oasis, and how it survives nuclear summer heat ( its like buy bait scam ) You literally in endings choose either clone ( possibly to show that you want discover mystery) or you just GIVE UP unless i am missing something... this dlc is biggest .. i dunno , cant say scam... but close to it... dlc is all about oasis. and in end you still dont know what or how... this is idiotism... thus will swap to thumbs up ONLY when i will find out what with oasis ! Шедевр.
но концовка грустная
Si vous avez aimé The Alters, foncez sur The Last Variable.
A good addition to The Alters and worth the price. Piping is a bit clunky but nowhere near as bad as many reviews make out. Another outstanding performance from the voice actor. If you enjoyed the main game and want more time on the planet with Jan(s), get it.
It was dope 10/10, except for those freaking pipes and Unreal Engine crashes
改變人生的神作
one of the best dlc ive ever played it could easily be a standalone
Ana oyunun kalitesiyle aynı, finali daha iyi
