I double dipped for this game but of course I had to get this masterpiece on another platform. I experienced my own version of Game Transfer Phenomena when I started playing Tetris religiously. The concept of that being the name and the idea behind this game is genius. For me, Tetris Effect has been my go-to game when I feel stressed or down. Something about controlling and watching the pieces while they fall provides enough of the happy chemicals to get through another day. It's not a surprise that this game makes me emotional as a result. It's no wonder the Tetris games were a source of comfort for me during the pandemic. I'm so glad it led me down the path to playing this game since it's now one of my favourite games of all time <3
Tetris Llevado a Otra Dimensión
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.78/day in the week to Aug 4 → 2.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Classic gameplay, incredible atmosphere. Now I just want a brick breaker game with the same treatment.
It's an absolutely beautiful game, and a really good fixed tuning experience for seasoned stacker veterans. The visuals are spectacular and the soundtrack is wonderful, with a lot of fun gamemodes to choose from. HOWEVER. I simply CANNOT recommend this game due to how horrid the netplay is. Finish a 25 minute match (YES, A SINGLE ZONE BATTLE SET LASTS THIS LONG.) and manage to just barely scrape out a victory? TOO BAD, Your opponent can just disconnect and deny you any SR gain because the game quits out to the menu whilst essentially declaring the match "no contest". This is a VERY frequent occurrence at lower rating brackets (it stops at around 9.5k but that's an absolute chore to get to.) If I could refund this game solely because of that, I would, at least until it's fixed. Until then, I cannot recommend this game as a fair versus environment.
Easily my favorite way to play Tetris, but it is NOT worth $40. If you looove Tetris, buy it on sale, otherwise, search 'Tetris' on google. And play it through your browser I'm sure you can set up Steam's desktop controller support to play Tetris on chrome with a controller, but there's not denying that Tetris Effect is hella cool.
As someone with "fast" Tetris background (Jstris, Tetr.io), this game is a refreshing edition to the block stacking genre. For the technical part, gone away are the 0 ARR and instant softdrop, welcome back to good old DAS management and skill stopping. The control may feel a bit clunky at first, but once you get used to it, placing 2 pieces per second should be doable. It takes a while to get used to higher levels and 20G as well. It certainly helps if you have experience with other guideline Tetris games like Puyo Puyo Tetris, Tetris.com and Tetris 99. Regarding the content, I enjoy all three modes in the game. The journey mode is blessed with mesmerizing visuals and captivating music. Each stage is uncertainly a brand new adventure with different paces and challenges. The effect mode is filled with interesting and creative game modes. Along side the traditional Sprint and Ultra mode, I particularly find the Purify mode really enjoyable. The downstacking is more varied compared to Jstris' Cheese race, and the "purification" effects are beautiful. Lastly, the multiplayer modes are decent. I play Zone Battle the most and matchmaking is quick enough at low SR. The only bad apples are the players quitting before losing so that they don't lose rating points. This should be an easy fix with some kind of rating penalty for such players. Overall, a 9/10 game and I definitely recommend it.
most atmospheric beautiful game of tetris ever created. worth the money if youre insane about tetris like me. we're all connected. i suggest watching the commercial and also jacob geller's video essay on tetris effect and other games with immaculate vibes.
I'm reviewing this from the perspective of a VR only player. I've never played the game outside of VR. I love Tetris. I love VR. Yet for some reason I thought the idea of Tetris in VR sounded... unnecessary. I was very wrong. The journey mode is incredibly beautiful and something that is best experienced in VR. The visuals and music are moving and add way more to the immersion than I would have thought possible. Outside of journey, the multiplayer is great and I've never had trouble connecting with other players. As a Tetris lover I have no doubt that multiplayer is fun on screen mode as well, but VR ruined me and now I can't see playing Tetris any other way. If you love Tetris and you love VR, don't hesitate. On paper this game should have no business being in my top 5 VR games of all time along with heavy hitters like The Forest and Valheim, yet its earned a solid spot at the top and I don't think its ever going to be knocked down.
It's fine but not worth the full price imo. It's still just Tetris.
