Test Of Courage

Length <2hrs The game takes place in an abandoned school which has been taken over by Buffer, a creature which exists with the world after trauma is caused to living things. Test of Courage sees the player exploring the abandoned school in search of their friend who has gone into the monster infested place looking for answers to what closed the school. Most of the game is item searching, with a few puzzles at the end of the game. Some puzzles are creative and mess with the game's world and gravity. The puzzles on the other hand really step out of the horror of the game to give you maths and spelling puzzles. Test of Courage has a few scares, and there is one moment that did make me jump. Most of the horror is built up by the Slappy-esque doll hunting / following the player which has got quite a few decent moments within the game. I find the story the most interesting part of Test of Courage and how the Buffers come to form into the world. It is just a shame it is not a bigger part of the game, while at the same time Buffers we see in the game are not much of a scary or aggressive presence for the player. Overall the game is a great horror game, which at times feels slogged down by some of the tasks the player has to do. If you like the game then I recommend you check out the sequel, Born into Fear. This game had some great scares. BILLY! I liked the choices with different endings. The puzzles, church and school were all well created. The music changes made my body tense! I was fully invested in the story. I was scared, on the edge of my seat while determined to make the best of the situation going on in the game. A well thought out game. I loved the puzzles!

Дневник не работает (должен открываться по TAB). Вы всё время упираетесь в невидимые стены: иногда вам выдаётся текст, что «дальше идти пока не нужно», а иногда нет. Избегайте этой поделки.

I played Born Into Fear and was about to play Pact of Joy, but when I realised it was a whole universe I decided to play this first, and it explained a few things I wasn't sure of, so I'm looking forward to playing Pact of Joy even more now. I don't play a lot of horror games but it's a genre I'm trying to get into, this game was fun and I liked the story, the jump scares were good (I usually hate jump scares) and for a first game I think it's a pretty good attempt. Born Into Fear did feel more polished, and Pact of Joy is another big step in quality, so it's good to see the improvements from game to game. I'll be sticking around for any more games they make

Okay so, I played the first three games of this rather new developper (including "Was it worth it?" and "Born Into Fear"). Here is my opinion about Test of Courage: While it may look like a lot of indie Horror games, this one is a little different. Rather than "just" being a walking simulator with jumps scares and stealth mecanics, this one focuses on a supernatural atmosphere with puzzles and quite interesting story and backstory. They are not just telling you a story, they try to create a "world" with its lore, giving it a little more depth. I was never particularly "stuck" but english is not my primary language, and one the puzzles (which consists of unscrambling english words) proven to be quite difficult for me. As a first game though, it's pretty well done.

This was a lot of fun! It relies a little bit too much on jumpscares at some times that end up falling flat, being more funny than scary, but at the same time it does keep you on edge. There's enough done right here, and knowing it's the basis the universe they're building, it's really cool to see. Loved the world, the creepy elements, and the overall atmosphere of the game. good game. a better version of games similar to this. had good puzzles, story and enough intrigue to complete it. would recommend.
