As someone who really enjoyed Crimsonland and Neon Chrome, this just ain't it. The gameplay is... okay. All the levels are samey, there's no real story/plot, and no real depth to the gameplay. As others have noted, RNG is a major factor - get the right passives/weapon and you're set, otherwise you'll struggle, maybe die. I finished the first difficulty level of the campaign, and I kept waiting the whole time for it to get really good, to get some cool new upgrades or something exciting, and that never really happened. I have no interest in replaying the campaign 1-2 more times on harder difficulty levels to grind out meta upgrades and maybe see a "true ending". I'd say maybe give it 5 bucks if it's on sale, but no more.
I've completed this now on Steam and the PS4. It's a nice little twin-stick shooter with fun, basic mechanics. It may get slightly repetitive after a while, but it's short enough to not overstay its welcome. Recommended if you can get it on sale.

5$ is the most I'd spend on it. Whether you win or lose is 100% RNG and enemy spawn rates are so insane I can set off a screen nuke to kill everything and the total number of enemies will actually go up.
Applied physics vs. Untold horrors: that feels right. The plot is simple but it is enough; story takes you through the iconic locations from Lovecraft stories with Tesla's mystical bullet-hell inventions. The battles really feel epic with quite a number of entities on screen at all times and also very dynamic where the next upgrade can totally turn the tables. The game does not feel boring to play: it is a power fantasy we deserve
