About
Seikyu is a quiet island sanctuary, hidden far from the noise of the human world. Here, yokai spirits live in harmony with nature and the turning seasons.
You and your sister begin your new lives in an old farmhouse - a place filled with memories, and room to begin anew. There's always something to tend, someone to chat with, or a quiet corner you haven't discovered yet.
Seikyu isn't a place you rush through. It's a place you can return to.

Your days follow a rhythm you create. Tend the farm, wander into town, or follow a path you haven't explored before. Some days you'll harvest. Some days you'll decorate. Some days you'll stumble across something you weren't expecting.
Expand your fields at your own pace, grow seasonal crops, and raise chickens, cows, sheep, and capybaras. Craft furniture and gradually create a space that feels like home.

The people of Seikyu have their own lives, routines, and quiet worries. Torleone, the thoughtful otter fisherman. Sasaki, the well-meaning carpenter who's always in the middle of a project. Nyotengu, the watchful guardian of the island skies.
Spend time with them and you'll start to notice the small changes - new dialogue, shared traditions, and story moments that unfold naturally over time. Their stories are interwoven, and yours will become part of that tapestry.

As a descendant of the Fox Clan, you carry the gift of shapeshifting. Transform to experience the island in new ways - charge through fields as a boar, soar on the wind as a tengu, or slip beneath the waves as a water spirit. Each form opens new corners of Seikyu: hidden ruins, distant hilltops, and sunken treasures.

Cherry blossoms give way to summer heat. Autumn leaves fall. Snow settles on the rooftops. Seikyu lives and breathes through every season, shaping the crops you grow, the festivals you attend, and the pace of life around you.

Unfortunately, the game does not feel finished. I highly recommend finding an artist that can redraw the character portraits to match the aesthetic of the game models; otherwise you're going to have to deal with continued complaints. I find the level design is a bit awkward, with buildings placed haphazardly and creating lots of odd back areas that look out of place. I'll come back and see if anything has changed in a few months
At first, this game was great! Was cute and fun. I didn't like how empty the world was outside of the town though, and the sound design for watering and planting is...grating. It's EXTREMELY genshin coded with most animations, obviously the scenery too, but I was already aware of that from the trailer and stuff. The story felt...short. It's also a huge headache to get money in the game, but maybe there are secret money making ways I'm unaware of, unsure. But, I put all that aside cause I genuinely enjoyed the game. But, the more I played, the more the red flags kept popping up. The characters are boring, not much depth to most of them aside from maybe
Kincho
. A lot of the mysteries were also spoiled for me cause the models just weren't loading correctly for me. I'm disappointed by a lot of the dialogue with characters as well, as they mostly just repeat phrases or conversations. Especially the 3 newcomers later in the story. The animations for things like hugging and kissing also needs work. I would much rather be hugged than worry the person is about to suplex me. I would also prefer it to look like I'm getting kissed by someone instead of a robot that leans forward, tilts their head, and then leans back, with their eyes fully open. The ones that do have proper animations are EXTREMELY stiff, unnatural, and awkward. The animation issues also extend to the animals. I think the devs need to look at how a dog's or cat's legs work. And/or how a fox jumps. I was also disappointed when I clicked on "I would like to get to know you better" option, expecting to ask about their day or about them. The only options are to ask for a hug and/or a kiss. Going to spoiler the following just in case. It feels like a lot of the characters' stories are incomplete.
What do you mean we don't have to look for Sasaki's scales and we never get to see his Yokai form?????

There was a point in the story where the town is on fire, so one might expect the music to pick up or something to show urgency. Nope. Same music as if nothing happened. It was very jarring and ruined the mood.

The fox form looks cursed and eternally concerned. I think they were trying to make it the 'special one' with animated eyes and stuff, but omg it looks...uncanny. The dark fox is probably supposed to look spooky in the dreams, but he just looks goofy.
Random note: I HATE how the red pandas walk on two legs. As of right now, I can't recommend this game. I think they were too eager to pump this game out, it definitely needed more time.

-------------------------------------- Some of the dungeon quests almost drove me insane. You really have to wrap your head around those labyrinth-like paths just to figure out where the hell you're supposed to go. Changing into different forms totally rounds out the fun, though. Plus, you can adjust the game speed (in-game time) yourself and even build your own teleporters later on. Big downside: the Yokai chests are linked, but you still have to put the materials into your inventory to actually craft anything, and there's no auto-fill feature The main story drags a little bit at the end. But if you're looking for a beautiful, charming, and wonderfully wacky cozy game with a serious addiction factor, you just have to grab this one.
I'm guessing that a lot of people looking at this game already know what the farming game genre is like, but just in case there's someone on this planet that hasn't played harvest moon or Stardew Valley yet, here's the basic gameplay loop. -Get up -water your plants -harvest crops -plant new crops -take care of your animals -talk to your neighbors -fish/mine/fight monsters/forage as time allows -go to bed Now, let's go to the things that makes Tales of Seikyu stand out from others in the genre: -Kon: you have a little sister that sticks with you, helps out, comments on things, and just generally keeps you company. She helps root your character in the world by giving you someone to care for, and is very adorable. She can be a bit annoying from time to time, but what younger sibling isn't XD. -transformation: throughout the game you'll unlock a number of forms that help with the day-to-day farming and traversal, as well as solve puzzles in the mines and help with combat. -Japanese folklore inspired setting: everyone you meet is some kind of Yokai (though I think there's a few creatures from European folklore as well, I'm not versed enough in Japanese folklore to know if they have Minotaurs and Dryads), and the village and architecture are all clearly inspired by Japan, though with a mismatch of eras that gives the place a style of its own. -Combat: the combat in this game is a lot better than your average farming game, with three weapons with different combat styles, quick and heavy attacks and dodges. -capibaras: You can raise capibaras, and give them a hot spring to chill in. Need I say more? I'd also like to give a shout-out to three love interests that break the usual mould of 20-something bachelors and bachelorettes that are common in this genre. -Torleone is the towns fish-monger, a former pirate and acting single dad to his young nephew. It's a bit hard to read his age, what with him being a beefy otter-guy and all, but he reads as a forty-something guy. -Miss Ama is retired actress and the owner of the towns clothes-shop, I didn't get as far in her personal storyline, but like Torleone she reads as an older character (incidentally, if you pursue neither her nor Torleone, she and Torleone end up getting together) -Leon: he's the town priest, a man that has lived decades and can tell countless stories of his travels. He is also incredibly handsome and absolutely ripped. I'm making note of these as I've seen in quite a few other games people lamenting the lack of older love interests, and I'd say this game delivers on that front for those interested. Now, I do have to mention a few less good points of this game. I enjoyed my playthrough and recommend the game, but it is not a perfect masterpiece and you should be aware of these points as well if you're comparing different games in the genre: -Overall the game is just a little bit janky. There are no game-breaking bugs or anything, but there are some points that are just a little rough. The game tends to stutter when you enter the tow for the first time in a play session, and sometimes characters just teleport from point a to point b as their time-table demands, amongst other things. This didn't really dampen my enjoyment, but most players will be able to tell the game is a little rough around the edges still. -The pacing is just a little off: Days feel a little bit too long, except for when they feel way too short instead. Progress through the fox ruins (the games mining/combat area) goes pretty quickly, right up until you hit a barrier requiring new tools or expanding your farm to get certain resources, which feels like a sudden hard brake on your progress. Some character relationships advance way quicker than others, and you can complete a significant portion of the game, including all but one bundle, before even reaching your first winter. You can also get automation for your fields (watering and planting new crops) really quickly (before the end of spring), which undermines your transformations uses in farming a little. Overall, I'd rate this game a solid 8/10. If you like farming games, are interested in the Japan-inspired setting and have a tolerance for a game being a little rough around the edges I can definitely recommend it!
I'm feeling very mixed about this game. The only reason I'm still playing is because I do love the references to Japanese mythology. The game itself does not feel finished. The choices you make have very little actual influence and the story doesn't feel well-thought out.
I´ve enjoyed the game so far but unfortunately most of it just feels unpolished and unfinished. You´ll get your money´s worth, sure, but don´t expect Tales of Seikyu have the same kind of soul and care games like My Time at-series have.
I bought this game during its initial release and have tried getting into it multiple times. Even after re-downloading it following major updates, my opinion remains unchanged. Performance & World Building The performance issues are still present, and the game world feels completely lifeless. Animations are stiff as a statue. I do appreciate the character designs (I don't know how much AI they used) but everything else—the NPCs, the towns, and the terrain—feels disjointed and unnaturally empty. Nothing seamlessly blends together. Character customization also feels extremely limited. Gameplay & Romance Systems The gameplay sound promising on paper, but in practice, it feels awkward. Combat is clunky and unpolished. As someone who jumps into this genre mainly for the dating/social aspects, I was really disappointed—the romance mechanics are barely functional and lack depth. I haven't progressed far enough in the story to judge it properly, mainly because the core loop failed to hold my interest. Final Thoughts As a massive fan of 3D cozy/life-sim games, I was really hoping this would reach the level of quality seen in titles like Coral Island. Sadly, it’s nowhere near that yet. I still hold a hope for future updates, but right now, I can't recommend it. (I don't really like Kon in her fox form. When she follows me around the map or something like that, it looks weird to me. Her animation is stiff.)
This feels like a game in very early access... PROS: - cute cats - you can adopt cats CONS: - bland conversations with NPCs, no character whatsoever - poor mechanics - game feels very unfinished - everything is all over the place, the game isn't intuitive and unless you want to spend the majority of the time looking things up on google, i don't recommend it Another thing I noticed is the art... it's very odd and it wouldn't surprise me if the claims about AI were true.
