Tactical Breach Wizards is a masterfully crafted tactics/puzzle game, backed up with brilliant writing and a genuinely gripping story. You play as a team of wizards, each with a unique tactical/magical role, and breach your way into a series of rooms filled with enemies to take out, cover to hide behind, and windows to tactically defenestrate enemies out of. Gameplay wise, what at first seems like a typical tactics game gradually reveals itself to be more of a puzzle game (it reminded me of Into The Breach in that respect). You have to complete your objectives, but are given a lot of freedom in how to do so, especially when it comes to inventive use of your wizard’s abilities. Each mission also has optional “confidence” objectives, which provide an extra challenge for specific party members (such as completing the level in a certain number of turns, or use an ability in a certain way) in exchange for points you can use to unlock cosmetic rewards for your wizards (the idea being that they already have the outfits, but need the extra confidence to pull them off). As you progress, you earn experience points for you wizards for use in unlocking new modifies for their abilities, sometimes radically changing them and opening up new play style options and even more creativity. Each level is handcrafted and offers unique challenges, and solving each puzzle remains deeply satisfying throughout the experience. The game has strong visuals, combining stylistic, simple faces with outfits and environments with a surprising amount of detail when you take a closer look. I particularly like Zan’s gun, which upon closer inspection isn’t actually a gun, but a wand in a combat stock. The game is also backed by strong audio design, both in terms of the music, which provides the required thriller vibes whilst staying comfortably in the background while you are planning your next moves, and general audio design, with each shot and spell having great audio feedback. There is no voice acting, which is a shame, but that’s a minor gripe compared to the whole package. I had an absolute blast with Tactical Breach Wizards. It is both satisfying to play and incredibly well written, and I was excited to see what new twists and challenges I would be facing next. It doesn’t take too long to beat the main story, but there are also plenty of extra challenges to take on, from the confidence goals mentioned above, to additional challenge missions and a survival mode, so if you love the game there is plenty of extra content to keep you entertained. Great game, strongly recommended.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 21: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

An incredibly enjoyable tactical experience. You control a team of wizard characters as they breach and clear various locations on a globetrotting quest to stop the world's most dangerous rogue operative from basically taking over the world. Each of the five characters you get access to have unique abilities and skillsets. There's Jen, who has a strong focus on mobility with two upgrades that refresh her move and the ability to teleport from one window to another. Her skillset has a heavy emphasis on pushing, allowing you to deal impact damage that ignores armor or push enemies out of windows for instant kills. Zan has a mix of utility that lets him waste enemy attacks, give actions to allies, and provide supportive fire in several ways. Other characters are a bit more spoilery so I'll focus on those two for examples. From about three abilities per character you get an incredible array of strategic intracacies. For example, Zan's predictive shot cannot be aimed directy at an enemy, but will only fire if an enemy crosses the beam... or if the beam crosses an enemy. If the enemy in question can't be moved, Jen can use her main attack to shove Zan into position. With five total characters you can imagine just how wild your strategies can get. I once killed a heavy enemy by phasing a charge attack through them to an enemy behind, then using a redirect ability to transfer the knockback back onto said heavy enemy, knocking them into my own character to gain enough impact damage to kill them. There's a built-in undo mechanic; at any time you can reverse an action, all the way back to the start of your turn. As long as you don't end your turn you can keep trying different approaches to things to find the most efficient one. There's a significant story focus too. It's not exactly lighthearted (the stakes are set very early; a world war that kills tens of thousands if you don't stop the evil plot) but it doesn't take itself seriously all the time either. It's not everyone's kind of humor but I definitely enjoyed it. The game offers two standard difficulties and a custom difficulty. There's easy and hard, hard removes a lot of the sources of mana (which fuels at least one ability on each character - typically the strongest ones) and increases enemy damage and reinforcement count. I recently finished a re-playthrough on hard and it was quite an enjoyable challenge. Custom lets you set the parameters individually, so if you didn't like the increased reinforcements or the lack of mana you can turn those off individually, and it provides some other optional settings for even more (or less) of a challenge. Speaking of challenge, almost every level comes with some optional "confidence goals" which are little bonus objectives usually revolving around using abilities effectively or being efficient in general. They give points that are used to unlock new outfits for your characters, and are nice little puzzles to complete. You can also always come back to a level later with more perks to make the challenges easier, as some aren't possible without certain perks. There's also a built-in level editor and community workshop for even more content to play through. Ignoring that, expect a campaign time of about 15 hours.
Scratches that Fire Emblem itch with a great sense of humour and fun characters. And magical assault rifles.
Had this game on wishlist for ages, finally got it, it is incredible innovative on the game genre as a whole Amazing design in terms of levels, character and gameplay THE most unique game in the genre i have played in a long time
Здесь нет "Шанс попадания 95%". Здесь есть Окно. Окно никогда не предаст
Really fun game! However, before you buy you must know this is a puzzle game far more than it is a turn based strategy game, but it's a really fun puzzle game! Especially if you go for the bonus objectives there's some really good brain teasers in there, and if you don't there's still a fantastic artstyle and satisfying combat. The one thing that might be hit or miss for some is the writing, personally I find it funny, but I can see the constant humor getting annoying for some.
I have been tricked into playing a puzzle game. This games vibes are off the chart. Really fun humor, deep puzzle gameplay. I think this is my favorite turn based combat now. It was into the breach before but I don't love roguelikes so handcrafted levels here really improves things.
Tactical Breach Wizards is a game whose Steam rating is misleading because it benefits highly from the ‘thumbs up’ or ‘thumbs down’ binary. It’s a solid, competent game, whose trailers and description clearly showcase what the game is about, both mechanically (grid-based puzzle game) and tonally (quippy). So I would say it’s a rock solid 7/10, which can be tough to give a thumbs-down to. The problem, then, is that rock solid 7/10 leads to a 97% thumbs-up that gets interpreted as a 9.7/10. This game ain’t that. Even if you decide to buy this game, you should not go into it expecting something at that level. It doesn’t have the spectacle or the depth or the aesthetics or the ingenious design or anything else you would associate with a 9/10 or a 10/10 video game. Instead let me offer a simple decision path for whether you should purchase this game: Have you played Into the Breach? If not, go play that one first. If so, next question: Do you want to play more of Into the Breach? If not, do not play this game. If so, then consider playing this game, as the mechanics and aesthetic do offer some fresh aspects to this type of game. That’s it. I wish I had realized the similarity before I played this game past its refund window. Because I wasn’t a huge fan of Into the Breach for much the same reason I’m not a fan of Tactical Breach Wizards. I find the gameplay superficial and unengaging. The problem is that when you have a completely deterministic puzzle game, highly constrained to a handful of actions within a grid-based gaming board, with essentially unlimited and friction-less rewinds, then the gameplay has no stakes, no surprise, no shocking moments, no real sense of discovery and wonder. It just feels like work to me: I’m doing something I already know I’ve mastered and have no real chance of failure but the work’s still gotta get done. Pretty much the opposite of what I’m looking for in a game. You may be different.
