Writing is good and the gameplay is pretty unique but as soon as the puzzles get more complicated I just stopped enjoying the game.
I didn't really have any expectations or really knowledge about the game going in, just that it'd shown up in passing on my socials. Very glad I picked it up. Cage match meets escape room. The early levels generally tend to just ask you to clear the room of enemies, but later on you'll need to balance that with completing objectives. There are also optional 'Confidence' objectives for each post-tutorial map that are a treat to accomplish. Don't worry if you can't complete one right away, you can try again after unlocking new abilities/characters. You can't unlock every ability in a playthrough, as the max character levels are very low, but it seems to be technically possible to achieve any and all Confidence objectives regardless of build (don't quote me on that, just the vibe I'm getting). The story's entertaining enough but doesn't really push the envelope - it's an 'ace goes rogue and sidekick has to stop them' narrative but decked out in magic and with some nice character moments from the team. Speaking of the team, I'd say Zan and Dall are the emotional hearts of the story. Zan is the aforementioned 'sidekick' and Dall is a freedom fighter you meet about halfway through the game. Jen, Banks and Rion are entertaining, but their own characterisation is more hit-and-miss. The final boss is a treat, though, as she's been kicking your arse all game long, and you finally get to take her down with the entire team. The unique mechanic for the final boss really gets you thinking, and it really shows your teamwork as your characters work together to counter the boss' gamebreaker powerset. It's a really fun time, and I happily went back and played through missions multiple times with different characters I didn't have the first time to enjoy the refreshed experience (once you unlock Dall's re-useable charge, AKA 'The Pain Train', you'll really start to enjoy clearing rooms with greater efficiency and abandon). Great game, you'll enjoy it.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 21: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

I bought this because I was expecting a tactics and story oriented game akin to XCOM: Chimera Squad. It is not that. This is a puzzle game to the core and it is a fantastic one at that.
I was skeptical when I picked this up because I'm not much of a puzzle fan, but I loved the vibe so much I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm so glad I did. This game is a gem. Whether you're a tactical puzzle fan, or just a fan of turn-based games with fun, satisfying combat and fantastic characters and story, you don't want to miss this one. The number one thing is that the puzzle elements are mostly optional. Every level has optional goals, which reward the *confidence* the characters need to wear new outfits. If you're determined to get all of these, every level is going to feel like a puzzle with a limited set of possible solutions. On the other hand, if you ignore the optional goals completely, you can just enjoy throwing people out windows with the occasional open-ended tactical challenge. Personally, after some uncertainty over what to make of this system, I found my own sweet spot, which was, funny enough, treating the optional goals as optional: trying for them when they felt like fun challenges and ignoring them when the trial and error started to feel frustrating. It helps that I've never been much of a completionist. If you are, and hate puzzles, you might struggle to enjoy the game. Otherwise though, I feel like just about anyone could find the right approach to enjoy it. I mean, I'd recommend this game for the story alone, so if you like turn-based tactics at all, don't mind optional puzzles, and you're clearly intrigued by this game because you're reading reviews, buy it! You won't be disappointed.
Incredible pacing, keeps flowing so seamlessly between gameplay, story, humor. Really an amazing experience.
I learned the word "defenestration" from this game

Great story and tactical puzzles.
I wasn't as struck with characters as some other reviewers, but I agree that this game has a pretty good cast: the banter is funny, at least. And puzzles are well-designed and varied enough. All in all, a worthy buy.
Really loved this game. I hope it gets a sequel someday. This type of playstyle is what I have been searching for in games.
