Vlambeer's SUPER CRATE BOX is coming to bring back the glory of the golden arcade age, when all that really mattered was getting on that high score list. Grab your baseball cap and loosen your pants, it's time to fight endless hordes of enemies and collect every weapon crate you can.

Good game, got 100% in ~3 hours but would play more to get 100 points in every map. Truly, a Vlambeer game TIP: Use "Browse local files" on Super Crate Box, open options.ini and set AlternateSyncMethod= to 0 if the game runs in 2000 FPS
Maybe the game is fun. But the game won't allow me to play it. The game runs at 5x speed, making it impossible to react to things in time. Most likely there is no frame rate limiter or delta time is not accounted for. Can't adjust audio settings, the game is quite loud at default. Can't write my name because "p" pauses the game and refreshes the insert name GUI. Bruh :( Art looks nice though.

I thought *Super Crate Box* was just another simple arcade game where you run around, grab things, and try not to die. I was wrong. The graphics are simple. The rules are simple. The goal is simple: collect crates while surviving as long as possible. That's it. And somehow, it's ridiculously addictive. Every crate gives you a different weapon, which means you never really know what you're going to get next. One second you're confidently destroying everything on screen, and the next you're holding a weapon you absolutely did not want while enemies are coming from every direction. You die. You try again. And somehow, five minutes turns into an hour. What I love most is how easy the game is to understand but how difficult it is to actually master. It doesn't need a huge story or complicated progression system. It just gives you a small arena, a pile of crates, and enough chaos to make you keep saying, "One more try." The music, fast pace, and pixel-art style all work perfectly together. I've played games with bigger worlds, longer campaigns, and far more content. I don't remember most of them. I'll remember *Super Crate Box*. Some games are fun for a few minutes. *Super Crate Box* makes you restart after dying and immediately think, "Okay, I can do better this time." 100% recommended.
it's alright. to me, leaving a negative review on a free game means that it's actively a waste of time. super crate box is not that. it's very hard, but at least it's consistent and somewhat polished. something marginally interesting to do for a few hours. in almost every way, it feels like a remaster of an NES game. simple, snappy controls. a LOT of replaying a very small amount of content - exactly three maps and three types of enemies. it's also quite difficult. unfortunately, half of that difficulty is from a series of minor annoyances that there's no easy solution to, other than lots and lots of practice. - a quarter of the weapons are practically useless, and almost all of them have limited verticality. falling and floating enemies are very annoying. - there's no indication of when enemies will spawn, or when your weapon has reloaded. these are big problems in a game where everything kills you in one hit. - the controls are so snappy that it works against you a lot of the time. the fire pit, deceptively, requires almost perfect precision to jump across. maybe the biggest issue is the static difficulty. you have a few seconds to collect the first 3 crates, and then the enemies begin pouring in at full force. they will never slow down. their hitboxes are not very generous and barely scraping one means instant death. there's absolutely no reward for surviving a certain length of time or killing X enemies, just crates, crates, crates. so have fun if a crate spawns on the dreaded upper layer while you're working with a peashooter. some other design decisions are just mean, not hard in a fun way. but hey, it's free. this was a fun piece of history as someone who really enjoyed nuclear throne. i also love the aesthetic of grungy cartoon violence. they pulled off super meat boy's look (and spelunky's music) almost better than the original did.
Simple, fast, and just plain fun. It’s one of those games you can jump into without overthinking anything and immediately have a good time.
great game, my fingers hurt and the best score i've got is 8 but 10/10 would play again
Прикольная игра
This weird cube thing goes on a shooting spree in random locations, killing monsters with all sorts of guns. Its good for a free game with an interesting style for its gameplay. Its an arcade game where you gain points by switching weapons, forcing a sense of adaptability to get to the next weapon pickup without dying along the way. Other than that, its pretty tame in terms of content, but its good enough for being a free game.
Sadly this game is unplayable unless you change your refresh rate to 60 fps, I assume. The game is one of those that depends completely on frame rate. So if you have a 180 hz monitor like me, the game is at 3x speed. And it doesn't have a dedicated FPS limiter, which is quite the oversight. I do have fond memories of playing this game for a bit but it was too hard for me as I was very young when first playing this. Since it's free, I can't give this a thumbs down. Half an hour played and I still remember this game very well.
в игре 8к фпс, это круто. Я прошел первый уровень и с гордостью могу заявить о том, что я первый умолишенный геймер в своей стране, который достиг такой дичи. В общем игра не сбалансирована и скучна!
