Metal Slug 3 es, para mí, el mejor juego de toda la saga disponible en Steam y probablemente uno de los arcades más divertidos que se han hecho nunca. Además, jugarlo de nuevo me ha dado una nostalgia increíble, porque originalmente lo tuve en PS2 y recuerdo pasar horas jugándolo junto a mi hermana. Volver a este título ha sido como regresar directamente a esa época. Todo lo que hacía bien la saga alcanza aquí su mejor versión. Más variedad, más locura, mejores niveles, enemigos más espectaculares y una cantidad absurda de situaciones memorables. Este juego no deja de sorprender constantemente: transformaciones, rutas alternativas, vehículos nuevos, escenarios completamente diferentes entre sí y bosses gigantescos que siguen siendo una auténtica pasada incluso hoy en día. Además, el ritmo del juego es excelente. Se siente más grande y ambicioso que los anteriores, algo que también se nota en la duración, ya que es claramente el Metal Slug más largo de los disponibles en Steam. Y precisamente por eso también termina siendo el más complicado cuando intentas sacar el famoso logro de completar el juego sin usar continues. Aquí sí hace falta muchísima práctica, paciencia y aprenderse prácticamente cada sección del juego de memoria. Visualmente sigue siendo una maravilla del pixel art. Las animaciones tienen muchísimo detalle, los escenarios están llenos de vida y el carisma que desprende cada misión sigue siendo increíble. Además, el cooperativo vuelve a ser uno de sus mayores puntos fuertes; pocos juegos arcade son tan divertidos para jugar acompañado como este. Otra cosa que siempre me ha gustado mucho de Metal Slug 3 es cómo mezcla acción frenética con ese tono absurdo y desenfadado tan característico de la saga. Nunca sabes qué locura te vas a encontrar en la siguiente misión, y eso hace que cada partida siga siendo entretenida incluso después de tantos años. En definitiva, un clásico absoluto y, para mí, la mejor entrega de toda la franquicia. Nostálgico, divertidísimo y completamente atemporal. Si te gustan los arcades clásicos, este juego es prácticamente obligatorio.
