Would be super fun, but the difficulty level is absurd. The AI blatantly cheats, the game can randomly kill your players and your team never seeks out plausible scoring opportunites. I would like to recommend it because there is a fun game in here. But needed more work in the UI aspect and AI balancing.
I recommend this game if you want an arcade hockey and brawler mix. It has simply hockey gameplay: pass, shoot, check, and switch player. If you hold the pass or shoot button you can charge up your action and aim it some. However, this game doesn't have any hockey rules like offsides or icing, so don't go in thinking it's a hockey sim. This game focuses on the violence of hockey, if you check/punch a player there is a chance a fight breaks out. The team that loses the fight essential gets a power play. The amount of time you get depends on the injury of the player that went down. Sometimes they aren't seriously hurt and are down for a bit, sometimes they get a minor injury and can come back. There are times when a player gets a major injury or dies, and they are out for the entire match. This can lead to a huge man advantage and you can kill/maim the entire opposing team. Now, that I have written the gist of the game, I'd like to talk about the other features. I enjoy the challenge modes and tourney modes, but I don't feel like they have much replayability. My favorite part of the game is the franchise mode. You manage your prison hockey team by constructing the roster and managing your players. You give them different tasks to increase certain stats and you manage their diets to make them better at skating or being beefy enforcers. The injury management adds depth to the game since your players can really get messed up or even die. Be sure to focus the accuracy stat since you can't micromanage it like the other stats. Now for my complaints, the AI of your teammates can be really frustrating. There are plenty of times where they puck chase or go somewhere random instead of getting into the scoring lane. While on the other hand, the AI of the opposing team can only really score by rushing the goalie while spamming pass and shoot. Sometimes they'll do something actually hockey-like, but it's rare. You can also easily get a one goal lead and sit behind your net to win a game.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I found that this lacked what really mattered to me in a hockey game and that was good hockey gameplay. This simply doesn't have that. It's a very arcade look at hockey and the management of the team didn't quite hit the core things that I wanted out of a hockey game. I was bummed there was no full sim mode to watch my team battle it out without my influence, I also found the tasks of running around and finding my players in the jail hub quite annoying. Overall this game is titled correctly, Hockey is the third most important thing here.
It's fun game and I found myself playing for hours at time. The overall game-loop is fun until the 2nd season+ , but It'd be nice if there was a way I could manage all teammates at once, Instead of having to run around, looking for each individual player. I also found that I'd mix up which player's I needed to change for the day because they'd have similar sprites. I would be running around back to the info sheet. It got so bad I started writing down what I wanted to do for the day while I was at the dietary sheet, changing up their routines would get repetitive after the first season, when I have to manage n train up my 3rd/4rd-line. Maybe using the clipboard the manager is always holding around, being able to change the diet/workout with a task sheet and already shows the dietary info/workout info (+/-). There's also the manager's PC, or eventually being able to buy an assistant that runs around and changes the inmates' daily routine to make the loop less repetitive
It's basically Blades of steel (nes version) on steam with some extras. 3 difficulties to pick from, exhibition mode, tornament mode, RPG like franchise mode and some extra challenge modes that unlock different ways to play. Currently the best hockey game on steam 9/10
Super Blood Hockey is a quirky indie hockey game that creatively blends the intensity of hockey with retro-style graphics and humor. The fast-paced and chaotic gameplay features unique mechanics like brawls and injuries that keep players engaged. The franchise mode allows you to recruit new players and manage their training, food intake, and even controlled drug use to boost stats while risking overdose/death. Overall, it offers an entertaining and hilarious experience that provides a fun twist on traditional sports games. If you enjoy retro-style hockey games, this one is definitely a must-have!
Hockey. over-the-top violence, retro graphics, hilarious injuries. I absolutely love this game!
