I tried Starsand Island on Gamepass, and it quickly won me over. It has some bugs, I've noticed when I spend a good amount of time in build mode that upon leaving build mode I can no longer pause, neither escape on my keyboard or the pause button on my Xbox controller triggers the pause menu, so I wait until an autosave is prompted by time or by sleeping for the day, then I Alt+F4 or "Stop" in my Steam Library, then restart the game, after which the pause menu functions once again. Another bug relates to build mode, I will choose an item to place in the world, like the trellis(which I will have multiple of), and despite it showing me another trellis ready to place it suddenly switches to another item(typically the item first listed). Can't dismantle a duplicate crafting item, in my game I built a spinning wheel before I was provided one at no cost or materials, so I have an extra I do not need, and I cannot get rid of it, or I simply don't know how. Other than that I've had a wonderful time, the music is fun and upbeat, the game itself isn't too difficult or demanding, at least in my opinion, and I prefer games that focus on fun rather than grind/difficulty, so Starsand Island for me is a perfect fit and has become my go-to game for when I'm burnt out from other games that tend to ask more from the player than they give to the player in exchange for time and money invested.

A bit to unpack here, is it good? Yes. I have played a few cozy or farming sims, this game is incredibly massive. You could spend hundreds of hours and still have more to do, theres alot to explore, see do, customization is massive. World feels loving, characters feel friendly, you can spend hours not even farming and instead just crafting and exploring, game doesnt get angry at that because it even tells you at the start you choose your first path but your not locked in. It feels like they took everything you want in a farming sim and slammed it into one game. Negatives: -Story....is meh, honestly I dont care, its a cozy farming sim, stardew had a meh story yet people still loved that. -Driving is weird but nice to have. -No beards, not surprising but I am deducting one point for that. -The amount to do can feel overwhelming but its not forcing you to do any of it, its just saying "hey if you want this is here too, if not then cool have fun!" -Some of the DLC are way too expensive for what they offer, but they are also just cosmetics, completely ignorable or wait for heavy discount. Do I think this is worth 50$? Yes, theres way too much content and the quality is extremely good to be less, and its still early access....I dont understand how, I have seen AAA 90$ games with not even 1/3 the quality and content.

Super cute and aesthetic game, you won my heart with the capybaras. Lots of stuff to do and many cool mounts or vehicles! If you could add a bit of story and romance this would be the perfect game. Also please add more capybaras <3 Haha

This game has been really enjoyable for me so far. It's always been a bit difficult for me to get into games like this if they don't have romance options - I see it as an end goal for myself in these games - but so far, there's enough in it that's been able to make it come back to it! I loved the "new game" intro Starsand Island, I've been enjoying the learning systems they have in place for farming, ranching and the like, and I've absolutely enjoyed being able to find multiple things to do every single day in the game! There's always bugs and fish you can catch if you've finished dealing with your crops and/or animals; can always go mining since the resources respawn every day. Even the Community Board adds little missions that you can do to fill the time, and helps you earn coins! To top it all off, this game is listed early access, but it doesn't even feel like an early access game to me. No bugs that I've encountered so far, no janky textures, lag spikes, getting stuck, nothing that I've encountered so far. It's great! I'll hope they'll keep this kind of fine-tuning for future patches! I will say though: do not bother with purchasing their one "DLC." It's $20 for what is essentially just cosmetics, and it doesn't add anything else to the game. Other than this, I'd highly recommend this game!
Slow paced but not too slow!
like the game but wish the romance was actually there. Even after they move in with you there is nothing. They are just casually hanging around your farm. No romantic interactions at all...not even a hand hold. Then while they are living with you thee is still a date options for other people. Like this game has not morals with the romance and needs to fix it or at least have some consequences. They really did not develop the relationships at all.
