A good game overall. The only other space sim I've played is X3:TC, so I'll compare it to that. Pros: - Easier to get started, probably a better "first space sim" - Better story (not *great*, but there is more emphasis on a main campaing than in X3) - I liked the RPG aspect: levels, perks, and abilities. Cons: - There's no fleet or empire to control, so i guess the sandbox experience is reduced. but I guess that's why they created "warlords", which I'll try soon-ish. - Trading is mostly pointless, you soon find out the only way to make money is to capture ships (which is much easier than in X3) - Factions and ships are a bit more "semi-ish" - The balance is quite bad; you're either under or overpowered most of the time. Very annoying. Overall i enjoyed it. A more than decent game for RPG enjoyers wanting to get into space sims. Decided to skip the DLCs but I hope Starpoint Gemini Warlords will strike better the balance i crave between space sim sandbox and RPG narrative.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

A long overdue thumbs-up for this game! Steam says I've got about 30-odd hours on it. Twenty-something of that was back in 2015. I enjoyed it a lot at the time, but I got distracted by one spacey-game after another and kinda forgot about it. Flash-forward a decade, and I had a space game itch that the usual suspects weren't quite scratching. On a whim I went back to Rebel Galaxy and this game - and I'm glad I did! This is a fun and chill game, and was exactly what I needed. I'm just playing the Free Roam game, as I like that freedom best. I started from scratch again and have been enjoying the gradual build from zero to now 'just-slight-more-than-zero'. Chill exploration, mining, and missions, with a side order of trade and combat. It's got its quirks, and its not perfect, but it's very enjoyable. A little hint of Freelancer, some similarities to Rebel Galaxy and maybe Astrox Imperium, but very much its own thing. A fun spaceship rpg game, and a great way to escape and chill. Now that I've re-discovered it, I suspect I'll be putting a good bit more game-time into it. So: Yes, a recommend - even now, a decade after release.
Wow... That has to be one of the worst first 15 minutes of a games I've experienced in a decade. There may be an awesome game somewhere in there, but I'll never know:

The kitchen sink thrown at you all at once with dozens of tutorials that are just walls of text accompanied by a screenshot. Awful, awful, awful... Just the WORSt way to iuntroduce your game to someone.
90% of this first 15 minutes was just me with my hands foled in front of me as my slow-ass ship went from the main fleet to the plane and then back again. Literally just sitting there.
Also, terrible, terrible voice acting, but frankly, that's no big deal. Thats aid, if the voice acting is going to be that bad, I'd rather just see the text and not hear it.
es una mierda de juego solo. porque no esta en español, 5 idiomas tiene pero no el español
As much as I like the game concept, I cannot recommend the game when it has several game breaking bugs. Like literal show stopping to where you cannot progress. The only way to bypass is to re-load an old save, do the mission over again, then hope at the end it doesn't break...not much of a plan and extremely frustrating. Unfortunately, they never fixed this issue and it happens at multiple points in the game (probably why I was never able to finish). Example of one; For one mission, if you approach an objective from the wrong angle, the mission will break. If you approach from a different angle it will work. Yeah, ok...makes me wonder if they even tested this game. The game also has atrocious voice acting and too many extended bad cut-scenes that unfortunately you cannot skip. Having the missions break, and then having to do them over again and go through the often unintelligible voice acting multiple times is torture.
Can't even remember how i got this game. But after about 30 minutes of playing i said to my self "Is this just a flashy and open world version of Freelancer?" Enjoyable. Campaign felt too easy. might play it again
Han decidido, una vez, mas ignorar el español. Solo por eso ya es un voto negativo. Aun así el juego no merece la pena... esta demasiado poco pulido para merecer la pena.
Intro tutorial is just three pages of text delivered point form, all at the same time. Horrendous, impossible to remember without writing it down.
If you ever played any space sim like Freelancer, X or similars, this game more or less goes in that way, but there's less simulation. Some reviews complain that the tutorials are long and that controls are complicated. Frankly, I think that's one of the things that's really easy to get. Disable tutorials, check/rebind control keys and you're good to go. Most stuff can be done with a context menu key+mouse click, like setting course to a point, enabling fire at will, boarding, etc. In X, for instance, you'd have to memorize the controls and the order to use them. Two things really make me not recommend this game too much: economy and ship customization. 1- I haven't played enough to see how much the so called events affect economy. One thing I did not and did not like, however, is that all cargo is the same, exactly like Galaxy on Fire. What I mean is, 45 units of medicine occupies the same space as 45 combat mechs. There's no reason to go for the least valuable stuff. 2- You can't change the engine, shield, reactor and two other things of your ship. You buy a ship, it comes with that, end of story. You can buy some minor enhancements to these parts, but you can't buy different ones. Another thing that I personally disliked, the game feels more like an RPG than a space game. And I mean this because you have 4 powers and lots of consumables that really leave a taste of "your skills aren't that important". But maybe some people prefer it like this. EDIT After playing this game further, I am even more sure on NOT recommending this game: - Alt-tabbing while in full screen makes the game windowed - I had a bug where I clicked the full-size window icon while playing windowed. Next time I started the game, the resolution was broken and the main menu wouldn't appear! Had to manually change the config file (Resolution set itself to 1366 705, wtf!?) - Game crashed twice right after I killed a veteran or bounty or whatever (round star icon) - I modded the game so trading wouldn't be so terrible and ships would be slightly faster. Doubling the speed wasn't that big of a difference, just so you have an idea of how SLOW they feel, even the "fast" ones. - The universe feels extremely mechanic and empty. You see ships flying around, but it's not like they're going anywhere. - Most stuff only renders once it's within 3000 distance units. - Fogs, nebulae and assorted gas clouds completely destroy framerate. Hell, even having a station being most of your field of view will drop your framerate! - FPS while in station menus is the same as outside... So stations out in the above FPS droppers are hell to click through. Yes, the interface lags while in a paused menu. Go figure. At least planets are smooth like the main menu. - I still don't know how the point of Firewall rating on stuff. Thus far, I haven't seen anything remotely related to hacking.
If you like traipsing around space getting yourself into trouble while exploring, this is a decent game for it.
So while the campaign wasn't terribly gripping, it didn't matter much for me because with these games it's all about the free roam shenanigans.
