Starpoint Gemini 2

Starpoint Gemini 2, in its core, is a space exploration sandbox, featuring a huge galaxy with lots of things to do. It has a relaxed pace, quite a bit of depth, not too high of a difficulty and a nice game flow. Main downsides are horrible balancing and a very boring main story line. Personally I was annoyed as well that you can either pick story mode or sandbox mode, but not really do both at the same time, which felt limiting ore missing out content at times, but in the long run turned out to be ok. There's better games out there, but for fans of the genre this can truly be a bargain on sale due to the massive amount of hours one can sink into this. It's fun enough to play it for quite a while at the least

Пока пытаюсь "пройти" порог вхождения, и немного почуствовать геймплей, но то что я уже увидел - действительно убогий интерфейс c шрифтом, сильно отпугивает. В итоге я переключился на английский язык, но это не решило особо ничего. Игра достаточно быстро выкидывает в открытый мир, и ориентирвана на гринд, и несмотря на то что я выбрал развитие в формате сюжета, почуствовал скорее гринд-гейтволлы уже на третьей миссии. Как многие пишут в обзорах, это одна из лучших игр студии. Я с этим не согласен. Warlords - на мой взгляд, куда удачнее.

На моем экране ноутбука (1366x768) текст на русском очень плохо читается, уж не знаю шрифт ли подобран плохо или по дурацки отмасштабирован. Любое изменение настроей графики требует перезапуска игры, а иногда они вовсе сбиваются. Те 20 минут что я провел в игре я не вылазил из настроек. Интрефейс выглядит как в играх начала нулевых, некрасивый, неудобный.

This game can be fun to play, but at the same time very frustrating to complete. This is due to a bug that occur several times while doing the main quests that prevent any further dialogue to open up and tell you where to go next. You are going to have to revert to either the autosave or prior saves. This will likely lose you the time you grind on the side quests and their rewards. I did a few new games and never get to finish the main story because the game is bugged and could not continue forward every time.

A very empty game in terms of content. Have fun for maybe 10 hours and you've basically done everything you can in the game. Wouldn't recommend even if it was on sale. Save that money for something else.

Starpoint Gemini 2 is really the kind of game Steam needs more of. It's a third person "space sim" where you control a big ship and go blasting your way around the galaxy, looting and upgrading to your heart's content. The unfortunate thing is, the game is very old and while there's 4K support there's no UI scaling, so text and UI elements are impossibly small. There's no way to correct this defect in the game. Because the game will look bad and display poorly on modern PCs (remember, 4K entered the mainstream the same year this game launched so there's no excuses), I can't recommend it, and that's a shame. Also, the game is superseded by Starpoint Gemini 3. It's really not okay for these guys to be charging about $35 for an obsolete game that doesn't even work well on modern gaming rigs.

Excellent game with many ways to play. Good quality graphics without being overwhelming for older machines. Ever play Privateer? You'll love this one!

Can recommend this game, particularly if you like the style of game presented by rebel galaxy. However, there's a wee bit of a grind with this game, and also quite a lurning curve - only just figuring out some of the advanced basics now. Having said that, if you have time time to dedicate a few hours to learning this game, I have no doubt that you'll enjoy it.
