Been years since the last update. Abandoned game for some weird vr project.
Just go play Disputed Galaxy instead.
Very fun, engaging game with immense number of different ship and weapon combinations. Great leveling up scheme. Developer updates keep coming. Fun!!!

I was worried that it would not capture the same "feel" of the original (Disputed Galaxy), but much to my joy, it not only brought back some of my favorites (Plasma Launcher!!!!!) but the new content feels like it belongs in-universe, and the multiplayer is pretty smooth. So glad Ben didn't give up on this one!
i love it. does need more people but that's just how it be
This is quite a wonderful and cool indie game, I love it a lot. It reminds me a bit of the good old Escape Velocity, but it has its own soul and behavior. Is it worth the 20$? Imo it is. Big universe, many systems, many different ship types, factions, play on online (pvp)-server OR offline(pve)-server, a ton of different upgrade modules and weapons and quite detailed and complex mechanics to learn on how to configure and use ships, and to navigate through the universe and the systems... This is a huge compliment. Earn money by mining, complete missions, destroy enemies and take their loot. There's big dangerous bosses too, where you can get special powerful rewards (special weapons, modules, etc). when defeating them. All of this for 20$ and no other game out there offering this unique experience and the developer not abandoning what is clearly their passion project (sometimes he pops in to the game chat and you can talk to him, very cool down to earth dude (or dudette? I have no idea and who cares anyway). I'd probably buy this game again at some point, or find a way to donate. Games like this should be a part of our world. If you're a sucker for good old top down space games this is sure to scratch that itch :)
Starfighter: Infinity is an odd little game. Almost directly ripped and rebuilt based on Starfighter: disputed galaxy, one of my favorite space games of all time. This game has a lot of problems, but all of them remind me of the humorous bugs of olde. Camera is wonky, the models are meh, missions are predictable and run of the mill, the combat is difficult and travel is slow. And it's perfect. There's more good ideas per space game cliche than any space game I've played. Normal game mechanics normally reserved for the UI like fast travel are integrated into the game. level upgrades are research points, fast travel has an engine cool-down ect. All of this makes for an interesting and unique space game, despite it being virtually identical in appearance to so many others. Weapons and upgrades and perfecting your ship is part of the game and arguably one of the more fun aspects. Combat is interesting as you can completely customize your weapon load-out based on how you want to fight with the ship you are currently piloting. Different weapons have different ranges, types of damage, effects, guidance systems, and behaviors. There are also non-hostile and non-lethal options for whatever goals you need accomplished. Multiplayer is basically always on, but is almost never a problem given how large the maps are. My only actual gripe other that not being able to zoom out more in top down view is that when you do actually want to play with friends, It's hard to keep track and keep up with them unless one person has a slow ship and every one else uses them as a "base". very awkward co-op multiplayer. PVP is pretty decent though. This does come with the original Starfighter, Starfighter: Defender, and Starfighter: Disputed galaxy all to play in the extras menu option. Basically its a space RPG, that really delivers where you want it to. You should probably buy it man. because the old games come with it. 8.9/10
even if it is still beta access, it is pretty much a finished game.
Captivating, like HOMM3.
disputed galaxy was my childhood
