Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.71/day in the week to Aug 22 → 1.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
There is no "Average" response to review so I will go with Negative one. Unfortunately game is bit shallow at all gameplay aspects - hardest level of game still is too easy, combat feel shallow and you don't feel you control much in the game. The story is super-linear (even if more or less interesting). Exploring aspect is actually only about landing on some planets during linear story, nothing really fancy - just some extra resources usually and that's it. Visually it's ok 2D shooter, nothing really fancy as of 2026, but it's ok. Can't tell much about music or sounds as I usually play silent cause of kids. I found only one minor visual bug during game, and one scripting bug shows up on console, but nothing that stop me from playing so this is good state of game I would say. I also did try to play polish translation and is quite bad for the major UI elements, while kind of OK for story stuff. Translating "Fixed guns" is completely off, same for running surveys on planets. But those are minor issues. It doesn't change my impression of the game in any direction thou.

Starcom Unknown Space is the sequel to Starcom Nexus, and is overall quite similar in most aspects, with incremental changes to the gameplay (such as new weapon types, a more involved ship building system with heat now being a consideration, somewhat dynamic prices for trading, better autopilot capabilities for deep space cruising...). The problem is, both Starcom games are ultimately not about shipbuilding or combat or any of the small steps along the way, they're about the broader adventure of exploring a new world and figuring out what's going on: and while Nexus managed to craft a compelling adventure, Unknown Space sets up a lot of mysteries and hints and conflicts but doesn't answer any of them in a satisfying manner. Example: there's a legendary hero flying around in a fabulous and nigh invincible pink ship, which is cool and makes you wonder what his deal might be, and you can eventually figure out that he used to be
an officer in the Empire's First Legion
, which is... nothing, none of that matters, if you scour the whole game world you can get the vagues idea of what that means
as the relevant paragraph is like one of the three pieces of info on the First Legion across the whole game
but even if you find out all of that there simply isn't enough substance for the discovery to have actual meaning let alone any sort of emotional impact. The big secret ending that is intertwined with the main story isn't any better, and without hyperbole can be summed up as
helping some minor enemies you couldn't communicate with reach a distant place both you and them know nothing about
: all info that is dropped on you at the 11th hour by the way, no build up, no foreshadowing, nothing. Sure, Nexus had its fair share of issues especially towards the end, but they were mostly gameplay annoyances that Unknown Space not only didn't solve but supplemented with far more fundamental problems. For the most egregious case, progressing the main story is locked for no sensible reason behind
turning the Kyrnan-Nimion cold war into an open conflict
, which requires the player to "fall" for what is obviously a trap
(that is, finding the Nimion homeworld and delivering a Krynan "gift" there)
: up until that point, the game has taught you that solutions aren't always obvious and that you should be careful if you notice something odd, but here you're supposed to ignore the information that
the Kyrnan-Nimion hostility is being orchestrated by the main antagonists
because the option to act on it will only open up after you go along with the trap. Finally, even the incremental gameplay changes aren't all that good: the autopilot becomes less and less reliable as you unlock bigger ships and more powerful engines, the new weapons are mostly ineffective and the ones that used to be ineffective (such as lasers) have not received any changes, heat management receives barely any explaination and is quite unintuitive (big vents look like they vent above the ship but actually they don't and vent heat in the hex they're pointed at, fixed cannons can cool down from the sides into empty space but not into vents...), warp tech is now a total meme that can't even get you out of slow nebulas in a reasonable amount of time... Just play Starcom Nexus instead.
Starcom: Unknown Space is a compact space adventure full of exploration, weird anomalies. Upgrading your ship feels great — by mid‑game you’re basically doing calibrations worthy of Garrus himself. Combat is smooth, the mystery is engaging, and the universe is fun to uncover. There’s a grind wall later on, but then your allmost at the endgame and ends before it becomes negative. Oh, and : No red, blue, or green ending waiting to ambush you. Endnote: Worth your time.
a Nice game to just chill and explore, easy to forget how long you have been playing.
Good Game, eas to play. Also for short Sessions. Nice Detektiv Elements
Enjoyable, but who you meet and where they are doesn't change. Just the rolls on skill checks are random, but even some of them seem fixed to happen or not.
This game filled that Starsector shaped hole in my heart, 30 hours and 100%. I only wish I could have gotten more.
These games always make me feel like a spec on a spec on a spec. A decent sequel (or maybe just another storyline in the same universe?). I like the ship management aspects and controls. The crew progression is meh and would have thought it should have been tied into more of the actions of the ship rather than planets serveyed. Hopefully one day you could play as a different race or faction as it would be interesting to play from their persective and ship designs. As for content, it is just like the last game, abundant. I feel like it would take 100+ hours to fully explore and do all the side quests. I hope they continue making these games. I would give it an 8/10. Good but always room for improvement.
Story? What story? I just got jumped on by hordes of enemies, took hours to deal with. Ah, and there is an infinite amount of them... It's like hitting your head on a wall
