About
Star Stuff is deceptively cute programming puzzle game for curious minds of all kinds. Join Mija, a brand-new star engineer, as they take on over 150 mind-bending factory puzzles.

Looks cute, right? Making stars isn’t as easy as you might think, but you aren’t alone! Your work in the factory is supported by a variety of bots with many different capabilities. Some bots are able to lift heavy objects, and some can solve complex problems with lasers - which is a pretty enviable skill. Just make sure you keep your goggles on.

Once you’ve programmed your bots, join in on the manual labor fun! Unlike most automation and programming games, you have to work in sync with your bots from time to time. It’s a team effort here at the Star Stuff factory in order to get those stars made. If at first you don’t succeed, brush off that stardust and try, try again.

The star factory is extremely forgiving and you won’t even get fired. You can always reset, undo, and try puzzles over and over again. You can take breaks in this whimsical atmosphere with a stellar soundtrack. And remember, it’s only been 32,767 rotations since the last major incident. You can help maintain that record!
Exercise your brain. Automating bots is tricky, despite their whimsical appearances. Every problem is a chance to learn something new.
Over 150 celestial levels to tease your brain with even when you’re on your mandated lunch break.
You are part of the puzzles! Your bots can’t do this on their own - you have to pitch in sometimes to help the machines solve the obstacles they face in the star-making process.
Simple but deep mechanics make this title accessible and family-friendly. Try playing along with a friend or family member nearby!
Unleash your creativity as you delve into coding logic to craft your own bot programs. And don’t worry! Programming is just puzzle solving at the end of the day.
There’s a whole cosmic universe out there waiting to be built if you’re up for the challenge. Shine on!

A great programming puzzle game. It's a unique mix - you don't just program the little robots to do things in a certain sequence but also have to factor in your own movement and actions while the program is running. I think it's biggest strength is the difficulty curve; this is something hard to get right, especially with puzzle games. I found that it eases you in to it's ideas and mechanics and gradually ramps up in difficulty at a steady pace. I often felt like I was at the limit of my puzzle solving abilities on each puzzle throughout the latter half of the game, but managed to keep going thanks to each challenge being only just a little bit more demanding than the previous one. The game also lets you tackle a series of puzzles in any order, and doesn't demand you complete all of them to move on. I'm a bit too smooth-brained to go for 100% but I am glad I played and finished this one. Played start to finish on Steam Deck with no issues.
Fun puzzle game that utilizes programming mechanics. Now I am biased because I'm a programmer so this game really speaks to me. However, I think this game does a great job of simplifying programming so many people can enjoy it. The game can be broken down into controlling your character and programming robots with simplified lines of code. You'll write short lines of code to control robots in each puzzle. At the same time the robots do things, you'll be able to walk around, pick up items, and influence the puzzle with your character. This results in cool puzzles that aren't just programming or controlling your character. The game also does a great job of slowly introducing new mechanics. Every time you enter a new area, you must complete a simple tutorial puzzle that shows you how to use a new programming idea. This can be simple ideas like having a robot wait until your character does something or having the robot loop through multiple lines of code over and over. Each area will use this mechanic and ramp up in difficulty as it combines older mechanics with the new mechanic. There is also a good hint system in case you get stuck. It wont give a full solution, but it will give you half of the solution. When you ask for a hint, it'll give you all the lines of code but only 'half' of the line and it'll be up to you to fill in the missing part of each line of code. This lets you experiment with different solutions while knowing your definitely on the right path

I received a free key for the game. This is a super cute and approachable puzzle game! I love the mixture of programming/automation with real time movement of your own character. It makes it so the programming puzzles don’t get too difficult and it also makes for some fun puzzles where you have to think about the programming and what you can do while the robots move. The whole game is very polished with cute animations and music too. There’s a hint system that gives you the order of the code and that can be very helpful without giving you the answer (although I had to look up an answer once or twice).
Star Stuff is a clever and welcoming puzzle automation game developed by Ánimo Games Studio and published by Astra Logical that transforms complex programming and factory-building concepts into an enjoyable adventure filled with charm, creativity, and satisfying problem-solving. Rather than targeting only hardcore automation enthusiasts, the game takes a more approachable route, introducing players to logical thinking and process optimization through a colorful science-fiction setting. The result is a game that successfully balances accessibility with depth, making it appealing to both newcomers and experienced puzzle fans. The story follows Mija, an aspiring star engineer working in a futuristic facility responsible for creating and managing stars. While the narrative remains lighthearted and playful, it provides enough context and personality to make progression feel meaningful. Mija's journey through various factory sectors serves as a framework for introducing increasingly challenging puzzles, allowing gameplay to remain the primary focus without completely abandoning character-driven moments. The game's cheerful tone helps distinguish it from more serious automation simulators and creates an inviting atmosphere from beginning to end. The core gameplay revolves around controlling and programming robotic assistants known as Bots. Each puzzle presents a production problem that must be solved by assigning tasks, organizing workflows, and creating efficient routines. Players must carefully plan how Bots move through environments, interact with machinery, transport resources, and complete objectives. Although the mechanics draw inspiration from programming concepts, the interface remains intuitive enough that players can quickly understand the basics while gradually mastering more advanced systems. One of the game's greatest accomplishments is the way it introduces complexity. Early stages focus on simple movement patterns and straightforward objectives, allowing players to become familiar with the fundamentals before introducing additional layers of challenge. As progression continues, new mechanics, machines, and environmental obstacles appear, expanding the possibilities without overwhelming the player. This carefully structured learning curve ensures that every new concept feels like a natural extension of previously learned skills. The puzzle design consistently encourages experimentation and creativity. Rarely does the game force a single solution upon the player. Instead, many challenges can be completed using different approaches, rewarding those who enjoy optimizing processes and refining their strategies. Watching an automated sequence operate flawlessly after careful planning creates a strong sense of accomplishment, especially when complex systems come together exactly as intended. This satisfaction becomes one of the primary motivations for continuing through the campaign. As the puzzles become more sophisticated, players are asked to think several steps ahead. Resource management, machine timing, path efficiency, and instruction sequencing all become increasingly important. Later stages require a deeper understanding of how various systems interact, transforming what initially appears to be a simple puzzle game into a surprisingly thoughtful exercise in logic and planning. Despite the growing complexity, the game remains approachable because it consistently builds upon established ideas rather than introducing unnecessary complications. The visual presentation contributes significantly to the overall experience. Star Stuff embraces a bright and colorful art style that immediately communicates its playful nature. The futuristic environments are filled with personality, and the robotic workers are animated with enough charm to make them feel like more than simple tools. Every area is visually distinct, helping maintain a sense of progression while reinforcing the whimsical science-fiction setting. The game's sound design complements its relaxed atmosphere perfectly. Gentle music and satisfying mechanical sound effects create an environment that encourages thoughtful experimentation rather than pressure-filled decision-making. Even when puzzles become more challenging, the overall presentation remains inviting and stress-free. This balance allows players to focus on solving problems without feeling overwhelmed by the difficulty. Another strength is the sense of progression that extends beyond simply completing puzzles. New tools, mechanics, and factory systems gradually expand the player's options, ensuring that the gameplay remains fresh throughout the adventure. The constant introduction of new ideas helps prevent repetition while reinforcing the feeling that players are becoming increasingly skilled engineers capable of handling more advanced challenges. Star Stuff also succeeds in making educational concepts entertaining. While it is never presented as a teaching tool, the game naturally introduces players to ideas related to automation, logical sequencing, efficiency, and problem-solving. These lessons emerge organically through gameplay, creating a rewarding learning experience without ever feeling like a classroom exercise. Players often discover themselves developing more efficient solutions simply because the game encourages curiosity and experimentation. The game's few shortcomings are relatively minor. Some advanced puzzles may become quite demanding, particularly for players unfamiliar with automation mechanics or programming logic. Certain solutions require careful observation and patience, which may not appeal to those seeking a faster-paced experience. Additionally, players looking for a deep narrative may find the story secondary to the puzzle design. However, these elements are largely a reflection of the game's focus rather than significant flaws. What ultimately makes Star Stuff stand out is its ability to make automation enjoyable without sacrificing depth. It captures the satisfaction of building efficient systems while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere that encourages experimentation. The combination of thoughtful puzzle design, steady progression, charming presentation, and flexible solutions creates an experience that remains engaging throughout its entire runtime. For players who enjoy logic puzzles, optimization challenges, and automation-focused gameplay, Star Stuff offers a rewarding and highly polished adventure. Its accessible design makes it easy to learn, while its later challenges provide enough depth to keep experienced players engaged. By combining educational concepts with creativity and personality, the game delivers a memorable experience that proves automation games can be both intellectually stimulating and genuinely fun.
Great puzzle game. It's on the easier side, as the solution space tends to be quite small, but some puzzles are very satisfying to figure out. Runs well on Steam Deck too.
Fun puzzles! Could have had a bit more difficult challenge puzzles though.
