Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

Reviews
The script is lifted from the charisma void that is the PSP version. So instead of the original PSX dialogue thats so badly translated it actually becomes charming, in this version its just bad
An excellent RPG featuring incredible visuals, engaging gameplay, a good story, well rounded protagonists, acceptable to great voice acting, good music, plenty of reasons to replay the game (new game +, various characters to recruit), and forgiving battles. If you're looking for a challenge bump the difficulty up right away, and don't grind much.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 1: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.78/day in the week to Aug 4 → 1.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Has been one of my favorite RPG's since I played it as a kid on my playstation ages ago, and the remake lived up to every bit of that. 10/10
Personally my Fav Game ever made on Ps1 probably one of the best JRPGS of its era to see it remastered is amazing and should of been done much sooner. purchased on ps5 and PC
Great Remake of the PS1 classic. Game keeps almost all the elements from the original gameplay and streamlines them. The quests and Private Actions are now much easier to track now same with companions affection. The battles are still just as hard as the original version from PS1 and you can still get the infamous difficulty spike if you so choose. Major upside to this version, no loading times and you don't have to swap a disc half way through. I run into a lag spike or two while playing, but it was negligible and typically clears up rather quickly (I don't recall a lag spike lasting more than 5 or 6 seconds). The game also adds a lot more voice acting for the main story parts and Private Actions, so that's nice. Stuff I wish they did for this remake: I wish they touched up the character sprites just a bit more, but that's just a minor nitpick. Wish they also had the sound test like the original that you could unlock. (there is a sound test, but it's just a generic, lackluster one) There is a New Game+ feature, but it's almost not worth it. Even if you change scenarios it carries over EVERYTHING from your previous playthrough. (Why is that bad?) That means your character affection stats also get carried over and you'll have to grind items in the game's crafting to change them. Also it raises the difficulty and that spike will hit hard latter in game, just FYI on that. Over all I'd give this game a passing score of 75/100. It's a good remake, but could have used just a bit more polish
A remaster to the 1998 version. Has both English and Japanese voiceovers. If you like the Tales Series but want a Sci-fi twist to it, you will enjoy this game. The story liking is personal preference whether if you like it or not.
hidden gem really good game
Star Ocean games are about being lost in the space-boonies, where the alien civilization is less developed than humans. While keeping a low profile, you make allies and use your advanced scientific knowledge, and some local hoodoo, to navigate a trecherous journey home. This is the best version of the best Star Ocean game, and it's the new gold standard for art direction relating to classic-style JRPG remasters. I can't stress how lovingly crafted this remaster is. The action combat has a cool new dodge, a welcome defensive option. Every missable event shows up on your minimap. There's no random battles, and every collectible in-game achievement rewards you with items, gear, money and SP. Dodge 50 times for 100k Fol! That'll get you started! Star Ocean 2's weakest AND strongest feature is it's unique take on Item Creation, especially compared to what comes later in the series. You can virtually do it all right away, meaning it's really easy to screw up your build at the start of the game, but you can also become SUPER overpowered... like at level 3.
Amazing remake of an already great RPG.
Amazing remaster, weak base game. I loved the premise of a space cadet getting stranded on a fantasy planet, loved the starting characters and their interactions. It is a pity that the story falls off fast. Claude and Rena are cute, Ashton's design is amazing. Environments, pixel arts, and character portraits are gorgeous. Sadly, that's all there is to it. Still, the game left a positive impression on me, so I'm giving it a thumbs up. There is a demo, so go try it first.
