Full disclosure: I received this game through a Twitch stream for free, however I have since felt compelled to spend money on the in game store to support the developers because this is a little underrated gem. Spiritvale's cutesy artstyle does not take away from what is otherwise a very oldschool MMORPG experience. There is no story (yet), you just have your respective class, with a sprinkle of the holy trinity for endgame content, and you play the game to power up your character and farm different equipment combos. PROs: Speaking of equipment, Spiritvale has a huge diverse set of different gear pieces which can be meshed together to create unique builds. Currently some are more popular than others but due to the combination of armours, set bonuses, cards (mob/boss drops that have unique traits you can slot into gear), a runes/artefact system and gems (for augmenting your runes/artefacts to boost the power of your class main skills). A lot of thought and care has obviously gone into each of these, and combining them in different ways makes the game stand out in its versatility for theorycrafting. There is a detailed refining system for several aspects of the gear (which could do with some clearer explanations) including a gamba (in game currency only) refining system, a RNG based trait rolling system that uses gems you collect from mob drops and more. The complexity is surprising to me for a game of this art style as I had at first assumed it to be more "chill" but you can sweat lord this system if you wish to minmax your characters. Whilst compact, the maps of Spiritvale feel unique to one another, while the mobs can sometimes feel repetitive in the late game they each have different strengths, weaknesses and types (poison/holy/ghost/shadow/water/fire etc) which correspond to your own abilities, card choices and skillsets. Instancing is used to help try and avoid too much congestion on maps and the developers constantly tinker with this to achieve the right balance. There is a cosmetic store, but the items are purely cosmetic rather than P2W. The only elements you may consider P2W are the mounts for movement speed (though you can farm a small amount of mounts in the game) and pets (which are more common than mounts, but essential for auto loot and helpful in the early game). Otherwise I look forward to seeing what art designs are put into the game in the future to help encourage financial support for the game beyond it's one time purchase price. Bosses also have unique skill sets to one another, though due to their disproportionate strength you will often be one tapped by them. The encouragement here is to assemble a party to take on the boss, of which you can have up to 12 members and party participation is encouraged by both EXP and loot drop rate success. Classes definitely feel unique to one another, but it should be noted the typical "tank" or "healer" tropes of being too weak to solo dev do not apply in this game. Cons: There is a big botting problem in this game currently, devs have signposted they plan on working on this, but it should be noted there is some quite obvious botting going on. The reporting system for this is clunky, as you have to report it via discord ticket - I think the game would benefit from an in game report system so that GMs can review cases and take auction quicker. The review period for bot reports also seems to be quite long, but conversely there are bot hunters moving around the game to try and mitigate this issue. Currently however, it remains unresolved. Server lag and instability remains a challenge, whilst it has significantly improved from the initial launch, you still can get propelled into a grey/blue screen when changing maps from time to time, there are some noticeable stutters when casting skills, especially around other players with flashy skills, and currently no way to turn that down. Several hotfixes have been deployed and this is something the devs are working hard to improve. Auction House/Trade/Guild duping/RMT has been a known issue since the initial release of the game. Rumours quickly circulated of rare items being duplicated, and this was compounded by the action house and trade overloading the infrastructure the game was running on. Subsequently, there is no trade or auction in the game at the time of this review as it has been taken offline. Devs have been working to remove duplicated items and to rebuild the architecture behind the auction house, so I am optimistic that this will improve and be up and running soon. It should also be commended that despite this, you can still farm everything in this game yourself if you're prepared to grind. The party menus are currently bugged, causing previous parties you've joined to pop up or make you rejoin them upon changing instance or reloading the game. This results in a frustrating house keeping exercise of leaving them before you can join another party. It is a minor non game breaking bug, but honestly the one i've noticed the most as having a real terms detriment to my gameplay, so I hope this is fixed soon. Conclusions: While the game is not without some quirks, I think it is genuinely worth its asking price - the developers are responsive and actively working to fix the challenges this game has at this stage of early access, and if my 100+ hours of gameplay didn't speak for themselves, I obviously enjoy playing. There is a roadmap on their discord which outlines the plans for this game, and if successfully implemented then this could put the game in a strong position compared to its P2W heavy competitors in the MMORPG market. On balance, whilst there are some things that definitely need to be fixed, I would still recommend this game.
Succeeds at gameplay (being a budget Ragnarok knockoff) but fails at what I'm playing the game for (relaxation). The game launched too early and in a rough state, with all the usual day1 issues every MMO has. The dev is doing a commendable job of ironing the systemic problems out, but the game still suffers protracted lagspikes and gameplay problems. QoL issues like not being able to interact with NPCs without getting jumped by mobs, not having safe beachheads around zone-ins to prevent being dogpiled by mobs and killed while still on a loading screen, and randomly having enemies spawn in unpredictable groups and positions that regularly bury you in wads of newly-spawned quaasi-elites while you're in the middle of a fight are issues I hope will be ironed out. The other players are the main source of irritation. You can't take two steps without tripping over somebody. It's nice that you can tag mobs to prevent kill stealing, but that just pushes people to rush around tagging everything all the time. This incentivizes an EffYouGotMine sort of mentality that isn't helped by the party system either being vestigial, broken, or just ignored by everybody; I've been randomly removed from groups, randomly added to groups, randomly moved to a different instance (or channel) of a zone from my group and been in a group but still getting looting errors. Game will be great given another month of polish and a 66% reduction in map population density.
畫面蠻可愛的,但是LAG情況也蠻嚴重的
Launch issues aside which are constantly being improved right now this is a great game with unique and fun classes and addictive gameplay. It's a mix between ARPG and MMORPG, kind of like LostArk without all the cancerous stuff like homework /dailys/quests/cash shop. Just login and grind away.
OK Game, is fun for a bit until your "fresh start joy" fades off and you see whats happening around your Character and u cant ignore the negatives anymore. the following is my opinion and not fact checked. Been there since Day 2 and all the Excuses and Decisions said and made dont Reflect whats told to us. First off a hughe FU to the Demo ppl by disabling it, to save on Server costs and blaming their Criminal behaviours, if i woudnt have bought it before i would never have, thats a big nono you cant split the Community like that. WEEKS later Servers still lag, Maps have 10 ppl limited so the cheap servers can handle them introducing new problems when entering as a 4-6 ppl party into an almost full "room"... ChatGPT-like-Code sure didnt see that coming...feels like one of those.. if you Coded with GPT you know what i mean. Trades still got closed, Storages (Personal AND Guild) got closed AFTER Demo-kill, Selling Closed afterwards... basically anything thats "Online" functionality but the annoying 10 secondy to sync ur LIMITED storage (that you can BUY with more realmoney to increase ?!?!?!?!) to still lose 300+ items in one go if you click "too fast" to your next Grind Map, isnt fixed. Blame the Free leechers that dare to play ur game and rate it Positivley to be then just Removed and blamed for all the bad things happening... That I-dont-give-a-dam-about-you-just-gimme-your-money mantality keeps on going. Classes are not all released yet but lets NERF things that made ppl still keep playing this GPT Coded game (YES my Storage is OVERWEIGHT not full and any Message leading into not Saving any functions... ooof what a pain as player to redo the "storing in FULL again). Its a Ragnarok Online Clone and it does some things nice and brings many QoL such as non breaking Upgrades but it all goes down to the way of handling this Game. And f**k the Nerfs thats such a Disrespect into ppls GRIND into this game (in any game ever.... ) before you actually fix anything relevant and improving of GAMEPLAY or make CONTENT!!....be more creative about chaning gear and items not just number down haha easy.....such bad priorities Cant talk purely about the game, whats happening around it is so awfull its not worth paying!!!! to be then greeted with alot more PAYING on a bought Game for NOT JUST COSMETICS...... dont buy this!! youre just a wallet for him. Let this Clone just die out.. it had its moment, greed killed it already... its down the gutter... Goldfarmers and sellers are also plagueing the server and oh no its not them Demo dudes.... oops...
