A review copy was provided by the developer.
🔶 Speed Limit is a fast arcade game, one hit = you die, a fast travel run into 11 different stages . 🔶 Overall good graphics, mainly pixel based but easy of them have his own atmosphere. Gameplay is good, but also really hard, one hit = you die, multiples checkpoints on each stage (at last on easy setup), multiples different gameplay (racing games, runner / shooter, …) 11 different stages on the game. Game is pretty short, a run will take around 1 hour – 1.5 hours, a easy, normal and infinite mode after beating the game at last one, some others additional gamemode to unlock, like a neon mode (racing mode on a neon atmosphere) Overall, Speed Limit is a nice old arcade game like, but also really hard, and unfortunately really too short, at last recommended for his multiples & unique gameplay 💚💚💚 : - Really good gameplay, multiple types of gameplays - Can easily replay previous completed levels for a fast run / training. ❌❌❌ : - Really hard, not for everyone (one hit = you die) - Really too short, only 11 stages for around 1 – 1.5 hours for complexion, lack of bonus content after beating the game …
Follow IndieGems for more reviews like this one. One of the only Steam games I've ever refunded. I think a lot of the problem is that this game isn't at all what it claims to be. The game constantly mentions that it is an "arcade-style" experience, but it's definitely not. If this was a real arcade game people would put 1-2 quarters max and then walk away and say "this game sucks". The backbone of the arcade experience is tied to high scores. Arcade-style games give you many opportunities to earn points, and as you get better you'll find more and more ways to get them. This necessitates a significant amount of freedom to the gameplay, as in a game where the viable actions you can take are extremely limited there's no room for skill differentiation between a novice player and an expert. Speed Limit is an example of such a game that has no freedom. Everything in this game kills you in one hit, and such things are thrown at you constantly at a speed that no one could possibly react to. There is no score, the only thing you can do is simply survive it all, which comes down to simply memorizing the order of the obstacles and pressing the correct direction or button to dodge them. The fact that the gameplay frequently changes its visual style is irrelevant because this concept of avoiding unreactably fast one-hit kill obstacles persists through the entire game, making every stage play essentially the same. It's not actually that hard to progress, because there are relatively frequent checkpoints and you get infinite lives (note that this is also the exact opposite of how an Arcade game works), but it's never fun. I made it to the fifth stage in about 20 minutes, then gave up because it was clear that it would never get any better. I'm sure I could have beaten it, but it's simply not worth my time.
I LOVED this game. I finished the first run just now (on Arcade difficulty) and I was grinning the whole time. I will give 2 advice for people who are playing this game: #1: If you are playing this game for 1st time, Play it on Arcade difficulty. It will give you full flavour of the game without being tedious. Once you finish it once then you may decide to play it on other difficulties and you will be prepared for upcoming challenges. #2: Use a controller. There are sections which need Twin stick shooting. So use a controller. Heed my advice and you will see that this game is insanely fun. 4/5
Fresh little action arcade game with some unique ideas. Unfortunately a bit too short.
Speed Limit

twitch.tv/cafeteriaplay
CafeteriaCast - Seu Podcast de Games e Cultura Pop
what a weird game, it just forces you through it, button mash, go forward, die, continue, it feels like there is not skill and being push through it, unless its because i have just been playing ghousl and ghost remastered on here but its feels like infinite enemys and button mash, not good for me
Its just not fun.
I want to like this game, it seems like something I should enjoy but I just don't. I get what it's trying to do and it just feels kind of tedious rather than action packed for me. I have started this game up a bunch of times and it just fails to grab my attention. If you do buy this and you like the side scrolling shooter stuff you should buy Elevator Action instead. I recommend it because it seems to be well made. it's just not for me.
