About
Species: Unknown is a first-person survival horror game, playable in co-op with up to 4 players (private or public servers) or solo. You play as a mercenary sent aboard an abandoned spaceship. Your job? Execute high-risk contracts, make it out alive, and claim your reward. But keep in mind that you’re not alone. Something is hunting you…
Form a squad of up to 4 players to take on different contracts with escalating difficulty. Each mission plays differently depending on your objective, your teammates, the map and which of the 5 intelligent threats is stalking you. No one survives alone, but you can try.

Proximity Chat & Radio are available: distance matters, walls matter. Proximity Chat is bringing more tension, sometimes chaos, and unforgettable moments to your co-op sessions.

Every contract drops you into a different nightmare. Whether you're tasked with extracting a black box, capturing or eliminating an unknown threat, or even destroying the ship to prevent the creature from escaping… Each mission demands a specific strategy and none of them are easy.
The specimen is chosen procedurally from a growing roster of terrifying monsters. Each one comes with distinct behaviors, hunting patterns, strengths, and weaknesses. You’ll need to investigate your surroundings to gather vital clues and identify the threat in order to proceed smoothly (or not). Do your job and get rewarded, or die without anyone knowing.

Strategize as a group, make smart use of your tools that can turn the tide, if only for a moment:
Motion Tracker : Detect nearby movement and prepare for what's coming
Shield : Block deadly attacks and buy time for your team
Health Syringe : Heal yourself or allies in the heat of battle
Mini-Map : Navigate pitch-black corridors with real-time positional data
Guns won’t always save you. Some threats are too resistant or simply untouchable. But the right weapon, found at the right time, can help you push through or even take the creature down.

The higher the risk, the higher the reward. Completing contracts earns you credits you can use to:
Upgrade your gear
Buy new tools
Customize your appearance
Gather lore and build your own creature museum

A perfect match for alien isolation and phasmophobia!
if you got a crew of friends this is a must
I tried to play the game because it actually looked interesting. When the game started it was just a black screen and nothing to do.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 18.86/day in the week to Jul 31 → 19.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Very fun game with variety and leveling. Great stuff!
Great game with amazing graphics and very unique specimens to play against that give it very good replayability.
I initially was excited to try this game after seeing and hearing some very positive things about it, and after buying and playing it I have to come back and contribute to that positivity. This game is awesome. Think of it as dead space meets phasmophobia. You and a team of up to 3 other players (preferably friends) are mercenaries boarding a space ship in order to complete 1 of 4 missions. At the start of the game, you'll spend your time looking at corpses to try to gather information about which specimen you'll be facing. Then you'll typically head up to the command deck to turn on the power and use the map of the ship to plan out your route. You'll read about the specimen and how to handle it and then you'll have to head out to try to fulfill whatever your mission is. After playing for around 30 hours I feel pretty competent, but those first missions are scary and tense. Some things to note: - This is an early access game. While there is plenty of variety to get you going for only $10, there's still a lot that hasn't yet been added. But it seems like active development to add more maps and specimens are in the works. - I recommend playing this game blind. I know it can be frustrating to someone trying to avoid wasting money, but I promise its a good game and your experience will be so much better figuring out the puzzles and map with your friends instead of just knowing what to do and where to go. - For an early access game, it feels pretty polished. My group did occasionally run into issues, but usually nothing too serious. Typically all that was required was restarting the lobby. The graphics are great too. - I highly recommend going into setting --> general --> turn on "HUD effects" for immersion. - Use the in game voice chat for proximity voice and radio usage instead of being in a separate call. You can still talk whenever by using the radio but its way more immersive. Seriously, I cant recommend this game enough. Even in early access when it doesn't have the most content it is an absolute steal for $10. Great graphics, amazing atmosphere, tense games watching your friends die while you run away screaming. The upgrade system feels great too, quite literally the only thing this game needs are to polish out some bugs, and add more content, both of which are coming with time. This game is awesome, we spent extra money to buy the supporter pack on day 2 just because we were enjoying it so much. You and your friends are going to have a blast in this game, dont pass it up.
vivement les prochaines mis a jour !
I like it
A really good game to play with friends. Chaotic, funny and scary. I hope one day they will add different cruisers/ships that we can go to for missions, just to have a variety of maps! I also wish it was up to 6 players, but other than that I love this game. I can't wait to see what future updates hold :)
Первые 2-3 мисси лучше проходить соло. А так афигенная командная игра
