About
Gail Pilgrim. Starship captain, war hero, ambassador for the new Galactic Union and chancellor of the Pilgrim Space Academy.
After everything that she's been through since her carefree days as a common hauler of goods and passengers, there would seem to be very little left in the universe that could possibly daunt her. That is, until the day her crew answers a distress call from Latona Research Station, which proves to be the first chapter in an unprecedented tale of counter-revolution, espionage and betrayal.
Space Pilgrim Academy: Year 1 is a sequel to the popular Space Pilgrim Saga set nine years after the events of the last episode. In this brand new space adventure, you will play as both Gail Pilgrim and Margaret Dale, the academy's newest recruit.

As Gail Pilgrim, encounter some old acquaintances, travel to new locations and begin to uncover the mystery behind the destruction of Latona station.
As Margaret Dale, attend classes at the academy: cosmography, xenobiology, engineering and more. You can choose whether to try and impress or annoy the teachers, and your performance will impact her grades at the end of the term. Just remember to keep watch for those dark forces which might seek to do her harm.

Space Pilgrim Academy: Year 1, developed by Pilgrim Adventures and published by GrabTheGames, is a thoughtfully crafted point-and-click adventure that continues the Space Pilgrim saga while remaining accessible to new players. Set nine years after the events of the previous games, it introduces a new generation of characters while retaining the series’ signature mix of humor, intrigue, and emotional depth. The game successfully blends classic adventure gameplay with a richly woven narrative, offering both a nostalgic and fresh experience for fans of sci-fi storytelling. The story revolves around two primary protagonists: Gail Pilgrim, the experienced starship captain now serving as chancellor of the Pilgrim Space Academy, and Margaret Dale, a young girl rescued from the destroyed Latona Research Station. Players alternate between these two perspectives, navigating Gail’s investigation into the station’s destruction and Margaret’s experiences as a new cadet. This dual narrative provides an engaging balance between high-stakes mystery and personal growth, exploring themes such as identity, loyalty, and the challenges of interstellar diplomacy. The writing is witty, emotionally resonant, and punctuated with moments of levity that balance the tension of the plot. Gameplay adheres to the traditional point-and-click adventure style, with an emphasis on exploration, dialogue, and puzzle-solving. The Pilgrim Space Academy serves as a rich setting for the game, featuring classrooms, dormitories, and other facilities that encourage interaction with a diverse cast of cadets and faculty. Players must solve puzzles and investigate clues to advance the story, while character interactions deepen the narrative and reveal motivations. This structure creates a dynamic rhythm between investigative tasks and relationship-building, keeping the gameplay varied and engaging. Visually, the game employs a retro-inspired pixel art style that is both charming and effective in conveying character and setting. The character sprites are expressive, and the environments are detailed enough to evoke the academy’s atmosphere and the vastness of space. While not graphically modern, the aesthetic complements the narrative and enhances immersion, allowing players to focus on storytelling and exploration without distraction. The soundtrack adds a significant layer to the experience, blending orchestral and electronic elements to reflect the game’s combination of epic sci-fi scope and intimate character moments. Music dynamically supports the pacing, heightening tension during investigative sequences and providing emotional resonance during quieter, character-driven scenes. This careful attention to audio design helps establish mood and deepens the overall engagement with the story. Space Pilgrim Academy: Year 1 has been well-received for its compelling narrative, engaging characters, and faithful adaptation of classic adventure gameplay mechanics. While its puzzles are relatively approachable and may not provide intense challenge for seasoned adventure gamers, the game excels at delivering a story-driven experience that is both thoughtful and entertaining. Its humor, emotional depth, and exploration of complex themes make it appealing to both longtime fans of the series and newcomers looking for an accessible entry point into the Space Pilgrim universe. In summary, Space Pilgrim Academy: Year 1 is a richly detailed and engaging visual novel-style adventure that balances mystery, character development, and humor within a sci-fi setting. Its dual-protagonist narrative, charming pixel art, and immersive soundtrack create a compelling experience that rewards exploration and attention to detail. For players seeking a story-driven adventure with depth, wit, and a touch of nostalgia, this game offers a thoughtful and enjoyable journey through the intrigues and wonders of the Pilgrim Space Academy. fan service spinoff for a pretty good RPGmaker series
Klare Empfehlung meinerseits. Müsst ihr wissen! Lg SyS

This is the first installment in the sequel series to the Space Pilgrim tetralogy. While the Space Pilgrim Academy series can be enjoyed as a stand-alone title, the additional context from the earlier entries make it more engaging. It improves upon the earlier games with a larger map (with an "always dash" option that makes navigating it quicker), better music and more NPCs with interesting back-stories. Personally, I found the conclusion of the previous series too optimistic and oversimplified:
the corrupt galactic police, JACs, are beaten at Callisto and within "one year" the rebels bring about reforms and reunify the galaxy under a democratic government where everyone lives happily ever after
. This sequel series goes further in depth about how some tensions and resentment still linger, offering a more realistic and nuanced plot. It is a well-written point and click game with a compelling narrative and interesting characters. The plot is split among Maggie's shenanigans and classes at the titular "Space Pilgrim Academy", and Gail's investigation of new antagonists. More playtime is devoted to Maggie's relatively low-stakes missions: each class presents an unique puzzle. These provide a lot of variety and some world-building. On the downside, there is a lot running across the campus from one class to another that gets boring quickly. All in all it is fun, short game, well worth its price, especially when on sale.
i'm copy pasting the same review for all Space Pilgrim Academy game since they're basically one game split in multiple parts. With a limited system through RPGMaker this still manages to tell a very good story, with a fun soundtrack and decent puzzle challenges throughout. The characters returning from the previous series take a backseat to the new ones a lot which I don't mind as I prefer focusin on the generation, also going away from the idea that everything could've been solved quickly, instead focusing on the lingering effects of the conflict from Space Pilgrim.
Nice game, enjoyable series. Simple yet fun adventure. Soooome grind if you are trying to do all the achievements, which means going back and replaying. It would be nice to have a way of escaping/bypassing cut-scenes (or of saving in the middle). (Note that I have the same review for all the games in the series. They were all pretty fun in a low-key way.)
