Soulmask is currently best experienced with keyboard and mouse. We're actively working toward full controller and Steam Deck support, with a target of completing this in 2026. If you primarily play on a gamepad, we'd encourage you to wishlist the game and check back once that update lands.

I was originally going to give this game a thumbs up and give it something like a 7 out of 10 rating, but because of some of the bad mechanics in this game, combined with the "cherry on top" (the final boss fight, which is freakin' stupid), it deserves a thumbs down. There's more I could type, but I'm really annoyed by the final boss fight, so here you go. For what it's worth, it can be fun to build and design bases around the map.
Better than the sum of its parts. Played in Survival mode (stated to be the default experience) on the Cloud Mist Jungle map. At first it the mode presents itself as a survival game, but it's fairly light on the survival elements past the very start. Most of the gathering and crafting will be resolved by building your base and automating your tribesmen, who will gather resources from the wild, care for your crops and animals, and man crafting workbenches to produce the items you need. The main way to acquire other resources is to visit exploration points that respawn every in-game day. By midgame only mining may be the survival activity you'll occasionally do yourself. Thus the game is heavy on exploration and combat as you find locations and beat up those in them, including scouts that will reveal other locations to you. The map is fixed, but it's packed full of locations all around. It has an enormous amount of subsystems, and the more you master each of them, the more powerful you become. Leveling up, unlocking technologies, getting better gear and new consumables, unlocking new masks and improving them, capturing beasts to serve as mounts, recruiting tribesmen and training them up into ideal ones, controlling them directly or bringing them as companions. Tribesmen themselves are incredibly diverse, with likes and dislikes, specific roles, particular talents, individual stats and weapon techniques. Expect to spend a lot of time managing them. Base building is fairly straightforward as you set up production chains. For the number of items the game has, inventory management is full of conveniences and it only becomes an issue when far from home. There's a defensive element as well but invasions never triggered for me using the default settings. Making visually appealing builds is something of a challenge I wasn't very successful in. This game lets you customize your experience to a ridiculous degree, having four different rule sets and hundreds of individual settings you can use to make the game more focused on a certain aspect or adding more challenges or removing rules you may not like. The large number of systems mean this game is full of menus and there's the occasional rough edge bug here and there, but never something that broke the game outright, so it doesn't feel unfinished. Only sometimes cryptic. It is hard to find information, sometimes tooltips are missing or the localization fails. The guidance system only helps set up your base early on and leaves you to figure it all out from there on, at most telling you what and where your next intended target is. Nonetheless it's clear the developers give special care and they can work out the kinks with their community. My full achievement playthrough took roughly 200 hours, and I enjoyed my time. Taking a break before engaging with the DLC map.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This game has more factory micromanagement options than a factory automation game. The name doesn't even fit the game. The upkeep sucks. Nobody wants to jump the hoops of fixing base walls, everyone hates this mechanic. It drains your resources for no reason. Find a better way to manage your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ server resources and don't burden this on the player.
Fine if you're an eagle-eyed child. For my friend and I (gamers for 30+ years) the text is way too tiny. There is no accessibility option, which is ridiculous because this is a bare-minimum QoL item. Once we discovered the problem we looked into it, and people have been complaining for years with no response from Devs. So neither of us will be playing it, and will get our refunds. Looked pretty decent, but oh well; there's lots of games out there with this basic functionality to choose from.
Had potential but. The combat is whack. Probably not designed to solo. There's a game mechanic that causes infinite waves of reinforcement for enemies. So...yeah. Fun? No... And you'd think the tribesmen mechanic would cover this. But there's a few modes you can set for them in combat. Passive, which does what you think it does. Assist, which means they take the actions you take, and fight what you're fighting, so they get in the way with this. And then Active, which means they attack everything and run off like maniacs. They will skip enemy soldiers and attack chickens. Stupid.
