Sonic Adventure DX

El juego es bastante entretenido y disfruté completarlo al 100%, mi única queja es que las mecánicas de big son bastante toscas e incómodas de jugar

Difficulty Overall : 5/10 Approximate Amount of Time Required for 100% : 30-40 hours. This is easily one of my favorite 3D Sonic games. The sense of speed, memorable level design, amazing soundtrack, and unique adventure atmosphere make it a game I keep coming back to. Sonic's stages are especially fun, offering a great mix of platforming and fast-paced action that still feels satisfying years later. If you're planning to play the Steam version, I highly recommend following the SADX Mod Installer guide available in the Steam Community Hub. It takes only a few minutes to set up and greatly improves the overall experience with visual, audio, and quality-of-life enhancements while staying faithful to the original game. However, age has not been kind to every aspect of the game. The camera can be unreliable, animations and voice acting are often awkward, and some gameplay styles, especially Big's fishing stages, feel far less polished than Sonic's levels. The Steam version is also based on a weaker port that suffers from graphical and technical issues compared to the original Dreamcast release. With the mod installed, it feels much closer to the experience fans remember and remains an absolute blast to play. The charm, music, characters, and sense of adventure are timeless. A classic Sonic game that still holds up remarkably well and is absolutely worth playing in 2026.

I'm writing this review on my Steam Deck Oled (where i was playing in this game). Playing this game is absolute blast - the key is to lie down on your bed and immerse yourself i Sonic's world and that classic gaming atmosphere. I definitely recommend play'n it, though I didn't manage to complete the storylines for every characters since I want to make time for other titles too. Still, I might will finish them in the futue

The first Sonic Adventure is, for me, the best 3D Sonic game in the entire franchise. Great character designs, really cool soundtracks, missions (except Big the Cat, because they're awesome). It's a little sad that collecting 130 emblems gave us a Sonic reskin, although we could have gotten content from Sonic RPG, two unique levels that were changed in the release, and reskins of Sonic and Tails. I think that would have been much better than just a reskin of Sonic alone.

It's EXACTLY the game I remembered, and wanted it to be. Mod it for Dreamcast graphics and you're golden.

First off, I played this start to finish on Steam Deck. It’s rated as unsupported but I played it absolutely fine without needing to change anything. There were some audio glitches and a very rare visual bug but I have no idea if that’s got anything to do with being run on Steam Deck. I wanted to replay this because of it being significant to me during childhood. I have lots of memories of playing this and other Sonic games on Gamecube with my siblings. In the modern age though, I don’t honestly know if I can recommend it wholeheartedly. I will give it a positive rating but it is 100% nostalgia bias. As a full grown adult now with responsibilities that prevent me from enjoying my favorite hobby the way that I once did, I have been seeking out the games I played a lot as a kid. Most of them have been remakes or remasters but this one is basically the same as it was and I think that is its biggest issue. There are many other game series that evolved into 3D and while maybe they didn’t take some of the chances this one did or they were just simpler concepts that lent themselves easier to a 3D transition, I don’t know. This one though, good lord it has aged very badly. This is the same year that gave us Super Smash bros, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Spyro 2, and Donkey Kong 64. All of these games are just as significant to me as Sonic Adventure and I think they’re ALL far better aged. I can’t even sit here and say it was impressive for the time because even as a kid I felt there was something off about the animations or the weird “story” elements. But I enjoyed it and I played the hell out of it then, I even thought it was cool for god’s sake. Now, as an adult, sadly I couldn’t wait for it to be over. There is still some charm here and it was a nice trip down memory lane. I had fun but I knew it was just because I was reliving an old experience. I enjoy the music still, the stages themselves are all mostly good, and I like some of the things they tried that were new (Chao Garden, Mission Mode, the whole concept of E-102, the open world, etc.) but man, it just did not hold up at all. Maybe someday it will be updated and revamped and maybe that will make it a better modern day experience. I don’t think there are many people that genuinely want to experience it for the first time in 2026, but if you are one of those people I just gotta say good luck. There are far, far worse games, Sonic or otherwise, out there and so it wouldn’t be a complete slog because there is a somewhat decent game underneath all the corniness. Genuinely though, I think this one is better left to memory. I cannot deny the impact it had on me and just how much it has stuck with me after all this tine. Even if it isn’t that great now that I can see it clearly, there must be a reason I can’t give it a negative. I liked it more before I revisited it, but it still felt like visiting an old friend that I grew very far apart from.
