Going against the grain from what all the other reviews say about this game, SMITE 2 is good! You should give this game a try! I have about 2000 hours on the original Smite 1 I think and I can say with confidence that this game is a big improvement from its predecessor. The gameplay and mechanics feel smooth (as smooth as they can on Unreal Slop 5) and the game balance generally feels like it's in a good place (for now). If you're looking to scratch that MOBA itch, especially with friends, I would recommend this game above all others in its genre. This game's hook being that you get to play as gods and mythological characters and throw hands on the battlefield is awesome, casting abilites and swinging around weapons in this game feels better then ever for Smite standards. The new gods this game has (like Aladdin and Mordred) that SMITE 1 didn't have are also a very welcome addition with very interesting kits that weren't present in SMITE 1. The dev team feels like they are trying their best to make a really great game with the manpower and resources they currently have, they have a show they run on their youtube channel called Titan Talk with multiple episodes a week answering questions from the community and showing off new additions to the game, it feels like Hi-Rez is trying it's best to be as honest and transparent with the community as they can and it feels like they genuinely care about this game and its players (Yes this is Hi-Rez I'm talking about here but I don't believe it's run by evil incompetent corporate overlords anymore, just some people keen to make a cool game) HOWEVER it can feel a teeny bit hostile to newer players, the tutorials kinda suck, the community is unforgiving and downright hateful at times and for the love of god PLEASE GO INTO SETTINGS AND TURN OFF ACTION CAM AND TURN ON CLASSIC CAM. I do not know why this is forced on every new player, this is not Fortnite, your experience with this game will be far worse on action cam. I got a couple of gripes with the other reviews here though... 9/10 reviews are people being salty about skins they paid for in SMITE 1 not all being available in SMITE 2. I mean sure, it does suck not immediately having all your skins from 13+ year old game, but the dev team doesn't just have a button they can press to port ALL the skins immediately, they need to remake every skin from scratch again which is something they are trying to do plus adding new skins too. They are just skins, you don't need them to have fun and enjoy the game they are just differently coloured pixels in a video game at the end of the day. Plus it's a bit like buying clothes in real life, you don't just wear the same shirt for 13 years and expect it to last. AND people who bought skins in SMITE 1 were compensated fairly with legacy gems so you can still get all the skins you had in the original, even the ones that aren't out yet. Idk man, game is fun go play it. Get some friends on it as well, you'll have a blast.
I broke my monitor, but it was worth it because before losing my 7th game in a row, I shredded a team of three single-handedly as Baron Samedi. I'll get anger management therapy, but in the meantime, I'll dream of this game.
Terrible game.
As a player who really enjoyed SMITE (but haven't played in a few years), I have been really enjoying SMITE 2. I'm typically a League of Legends player, and dabbled in some Deadlock for a while. Needed to change it up bit and SMITE 2 is scratching that itch for now.
can we just go back to smite
Runs terrible (looks mediocre but runs like ♥♥♥♥♥, not to mention the FPS spikes every match), monetization dialed up to 11x10, New Gods on Release always OP (probably to sell them, MONEEEE) like Bastet, Chronos and recently Xing Tian.
smite 2 has made me try gods i never liked to play in smite 1 now that they are changing how some stuff works and with some aspects being really good combos with new builds
