Slayer Shock is like an Eldritch-meets-XCOM melee FPS with goofy weapons like toy dart guns and even sports stealth mechanics with damage sponge enemies in the late-game, but I straight up just run up on them leeches. I can't sneak around for jack. You have to find the Vampire Nests with research which costs currency in the place of Vampire Dust, which lets you play the finale [strike]on Cydonia[/strike] wherever the mission takes place on the map. If you fail missions too much or let mission areas become overrun, the [strike]aliens take over geoscape[/strike] vampires take over Lancaster and you fail. After you complete it, you proceed to the next Season like every mission is an episode on a vampire-killing TV show and keep all upgrades, weapons, and unlocked abilities. Tererererers or whatever they're called don't drop enough dust for the amount of damage they need to take before the player wins. Yeah those swole-ass mufukus should be dropping Bens worth of dust like it's national Yanggang day and you got your neetbuxxxxx. #PatchItIn Each map is procedurally generated but lack variety in terms of buildings, not enough variety, and too much thorn vine land mines. Those ground thorns keep me on my toes, hell I don't even walk on the grass no more, it's even growing inside office buildings, I hate it. #PatchItOut Would recommend on sale, pretty groovy tunes, definitely upbeat for a halloween themed London refugee crisis simulator. Very fun afternoon! #HellYeah

I looked at the screenshots and assumed there would be depth in the combat engagements, or depth in the stealth (since I found this in the "stealth" category on steam). The stealth is broken - it doesn't work. You can crouch to go less-visible, and there is tall grass to be even less visible. Enemies will still see you in this from 20m away, and will yell and start sprinting at you instantly without any hints or warnings that you're doing anything wrong. And because you don't get any hints, or warnings, then you don't know how to improve on your actions while playing making it very unintuitive. There are also enemies that spawn on proxmity as you approach some objects in the game without any warning this will happen, and they instantly permanently break your stealth (some objectives have optional 'do the level stealthily', which are instantly failed). The level design - I didn't see any benefit to this being procedurally generated. The stealth wasn't improved by having the randomness. And the combat feels the same across all levels, whether indoors or outdoors - no difference. What's the point? As other commenters have said, the starting weapon, the stake, is the supreme ultimate weapon. It has the highest DPS and because you are right beside the enemy you are almost garunteed to hit the enemy, as opposed to missing from a distance with the recoil on the guns. Using any other weapon felt like an immediate downgrade, and made me wonder why I bothered purchasing the weapon and the ammo at all.
Bad mechanics. Loved another title from this dev, Eldritch, but every other title I've played from him has fallen flat. Stealth: I was spotted from a decent distance awhile while in shadows and in a bush. Ridiculous. It seems like the vampires have darkvision, making shadows worthless. I quickly gave up on stealth and just sprinted my way through. Weapons: The stake is the best weapon. Good damage, great attack speed. The katana does good damage, but is pitifully slow in comparison. All of the ranged weapons are god awful and do pitiful damage. I was hoping with the katana and crossbow to be able to one or two shot minions. Would make sense, dontcha think? Season/Episode: At the very least, there is a build up, where when you succeed or fail, you tend to start out with more resources than you had. Skills and gear carry over to the next season. Missions: Some missions are vastly superior to others. With 'Steal', 'Hostage', and 'Patrol' missions, I literally just sprinted around the map to the objectives. 'Ritual' and 'Trick or Treat', those were more challenging. Some monsters take quite a bit longer to kill (and are not worth it in the grand scheme of things). Survival really comes down to having enough healing, and those quests have less chests (where 'Steal' restocks your bandages every time you seize one relic). Skills: If you play this, I recommend going down the bandage track first. Chests give you bandages, so having more means more full-heals. You start with more, too. Combat: As stated, the stake is supreme. Monsters are either pretty easy to kill or take awhile to go down. Easy to kill monsters tend not to drop vampire dust (and are probably not worth the effort), and hard to kill ones are not worth the effort based on the dust you receive and the effect they have on your success with the mission. Eldritch had a simplified system. An enemy had a point or two (or a few) of health. A knife did one point. A gun did x points. Simple. The water gun has recoil, which is absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous. Overall, this game is okay, but I do not recommend okay games. There are better titles out there and better uses of your time.
Within my 0.3 hours I was sick of the repetitive music (about 1 minute of it, it sounded like?), sick of left-clicking on enemies who were completely unaware of my existence, sick of some enemies just being arbitrarily hard to kill while dealing massive damage through closed doors, and especially sick of spinning my mouse cursor around (in the form of a lock pick) while listening for a rattle which didn't always seem evident. The scariest thing about the whole experience for me is that, full price on Steam right now, it's $15. The mind boggles.
It's a really good concept and they have a lot of cool mechanics BUT the game has soooo many flaws. First off, the game is a 5-10 dollar game disguised as a 20 dollar game. Super minimal, not a whole lot of variety in content, and overall doesn't stay fun for longer than maybe 30 minutes (after dinner mint kinda game). There is also a bunch of bugs! Constant crashing with no sort of bug report system or anything of that sort which really sucks. The sneaking the game relies on heavily is absolute and utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The guns do little to no damage unless you get "bracelets" which sometimes don't show up in the shops so you're basically screwed in range combat. The vampires are so frequent and everywhere that it defeats the purpose of EVEN SNEAKING IN THE FIRST PLACE! I would recommend it if the game was maybe 5 dollars or something cause I still think its kind of cool but ♥♥♥♥ 20 dollars for this???? HELL NAH
If this game ever got a polished up sequel, I would probably buy it immediately. Sadly this promising premise constantly feels like it doesn't want my approval! I found myself struggling on the easiest difficulty, but the only other option was 'tourist' where it makes all the enemies non-hostile. Stealth is clearly designed to be nuanced, with it rarely making you feel completely invisible but still important. However when stealth fails you, which it will often, you are forced into combat 99% of the time and that is not this game's strongest suite: it's simplistic and lacks a sense of impact. Likewise there is a clear love of monster-hunting TV in the game's presentation, but the random generation of levels coupled with dull NPC interaction gives no sense of love for where you are or why you're here. In essence, this game tries to straddle too many ideas without investing enough. Conceptualizing the entire scope of Buffy the Vampire Slayer into a bare bones indie title was too ambitious. This would of made a great tabletop RPG, or a PC game that focused on one aspect above all others, but as it's a bit of a failed experiment. Play Eldritch or anything else by this talented team instead!
Замечательное дерьмо. начиная с того что большая часть оружия это бесполезная пластмасса, заканчивая бесконечным спавном мобов на локации. Очень не понравилось
Buffy the Vampire Slayer reimagined as a high-mobility stealth FPS, from the creator of Eldritch. Pretty incredible.
