Sherlock Holmes and The Hound of The Baskervilles is similar in format to Frogwares' other game, Dracula: Love Kills, where as instead of Dracula and Dr. Van Helsing, you have Holmes and Watson. The story centers around the mystery of the Hound of The Baskervilles, it's apparently been summoned and decimated poor Henrys family. It is up to Holmes to deduce his way to banishing the hound. Rather lovecraftian inspired. Unlike Frogwares Dracula game, the narrative and thematic aspects are much weaker here. Sherlock Holmes is usually always borderline arrogant or outright so, but here he interupts his guest and instantly deduces everything about him and his purpose for visiting. Add to that Henry's voice over actor being on the weak side, you shouldn't pick up this game for it's theme, characters nor narrative aspects. As for the puzzles if you've played Frogwares' Dracula game, you'll find the same exact puzzles and mechanics here, more or less. If you haven't, I'll quote what I wrote about the Dracula game. "Though the game is more of a classic puzzle game, with the narrative driving the puzzles, it's also more than a simple hidden object game. A fusion of the two. The game features an interesting and well drawn art style, that still holds up in 2025, and never are you ever looking too long for hidden objects or things to interact with. The puzzles are also of mid difficulty and most of them don't overstay their welcome. And in the event that you feel that they do overstay, you can simply skip them after engaging with them for a limited amount of time." There's some awfully repetitve music that I ended up turning down to avoid going bonkers. The game clocks you in at around 4 hours.
