This is now pretty muchy my favorite VN game now but i am a sucker for intelligent (or seemingly intelligent) political conspiracy dialog games where graphics are not that important but the impact of decisions are. Not that many games of this type so i find this very refreshing in a sea of VNs The plots. the good dialog and good/bad sides you learn of the characters. I love it. Buy this at any price if you like VNs that are of this particular sub-genre. No Sakura girls here or any of that stuff. Just good storyline and surprising events that you as a regent have to deal with. Definitely a overlooked gem of a game as the game has been around for quite some time and not that many reviews.
Get it from the Indiegala's bundle and ... I don't know what to say... I'm kind of regret spending money on it and not save for my idol hell mini pack. The story not bad but I'm not really enjoy it and the art really need more improve.
AND WHY THE HELL REUBEN IS CANON?!? WHY THE HELL EVERYTHING ARE SERAFINA'S? ODELL DESERVE BETTER!
WARNING - This Game has regular use of profanity (offensive words) so if you are easily offended please consider avoiding this title Woodsy Studio the Developers behind The Echoes of the Fey series released this 2015 fantasy Visual Novel as a sequel to Serafina's Saga featuring past characters (such as Arken, Kallias, Nikolaos & Reuben) and introduces new characters that include the Female Protagonist role you play as - Odell Perin. The story starts off with the murder of Queen Belatrix leaving the Kingdom of Darzia without a Ruler, this causes Arken to find Odell Perin to become the temporary neutral Regent since all remaining successors to the throne will be under investigation. Those four successors each represent a Family House with political characteristics of : Military, Diplomat, Socialist and of course Serafina, the daughter of Arken, and her accused husband Reuben. As Odell, you not only take control of Royal decisions but also assist neutrally in the murder investigation by settling disputes and having evidence presented to you throughout the story for you to act on. There is a mini-game system used to help decide disputes or debates that involves being given a list of numbers (1-12) and the Highest or Lowest number to win over 3 or 4 rounds depending on if the Debate is Minor, Normal or Important. Each outcome will decide a ranking system for the Family Houses and this can be swayed further by choices made as the game progresses. You will get choice matters angles in the game that can gain you abilities to use in the mini game such as remove opponents number or double points. The story also has a romance angle and it's decided by which Family House you regularly interact with over the 5 chapters including an epilogue. There is also a costume feature that allows you to change Odell's appearance throughout the game via a shirt icon in the bottom left of the screen. For me, this game had a lot of variety to it including a hilarious sense of humour both in the superb voice acting & the story's progression. There are 25 Achievements each needing up to 4 playthroughs to fully complete making this excellent for replayabilty unless you save and reload to gain them. The Menu has many options including text-speed, skip dialogue, save & return (which can be done throughout the game except during the debate mini games by accessing the cogwheel icon in the right upper screen) and music or sound alongside Quit. Ingame you have music-player controls to the left upper screen for skip or text speed as well as a mute button for sound. I thoroughly enjoyed this Visual Novel (Thanks Ash!!) and would recommend it to anyone who often plays VNs or who enjoys a Fantasy plot with loads of funny moments and catchy signature voice acting that adds great depth to the characters. ~~~~~~~~Liked what you see? I liked it. It took politics and a murder mystery and actually made it engaging with the use of a mini game of high vs low numbers. Didn't love the PC being a crying lovesick mess out the gate, but luckily didn't have to deal with it much. I actually did really well at the mini game. And then I died a horrible death XD I may try it again someday, but once through was enough for now.
The immersion is so refreshing! Woodsy Studio, you've just solidified a fan of your works. Specifically speaking of the Serafina series. Both novels are beautifully designed and vibrantly decorated overall. Each character represented a regal house, pledged to a god cleverly that personifies aspects of the human psyche. The clash between each of their strategic and philosophical aspects created a very thrilling court drama. Lastly, the overall content's 'M +18' rating really allowed the novel's authenticity to really standout.
After playing through all the endings, I finally figured out the trick to the numbers mini game. As someone who teaches argument, I kind of wish the debates hadn't been reduced to a numbers game. It's an okay visual novel, but I grew tired of the mini game after a couple play throughs.
没中文,画风诡异,不推荐。 唯一可说的就是徽章设计的很好看。
This is one of these "Visual Novels" where you see a picture and then get some text/voice. But: it is in this regard one of the better ones. I started it and played it through to the end in one go. Most Visual Novels get closed and uninstalled by me after at most 15 minutes. Then, this game has more than just a story. You decide a lot of things, but you have to think a bit in a mini game to be able to get your decision through. This is a really good game! I like it and I will probably play it again to get another ending. I did not like my ending. But the story was good. Really good. Update: Now I really wanted to know more about the game world and who it was who did IT. I played the game many times with different choices now. Not even a tenth of the possible combinations did I test but now I got a good ending. I don't know if there are many good endings, but I found out who did IT and there was a very nice ending for "me". In case you are new to this kind of game. Many - this too - have a feature where you can auto skip all dialogs which you have already seen. So you just see choices and new dialogs. That way I did perhaps 4 playthroughs in the time I needed for the first one.
The story is great but the art REALLY needs work. There was this bit of the art that I would grade a 'B' so the question is why doesn't the game look like this all the time? http://cdn.edgecast.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/449340/ss_adb55256af8cbce558666beec5e64e2a379b1cb6.jpg?t=1458266830
